Chapter 198 Birthday Banquet

Yuan Mengge saw her run over to a busy middle-aged woman and say something. After listening, her mother glanced over, nodded, said something to Wei Jingting, and then pointed to the room.

After listening, Wei Jingting turned around and ran back, saying to the group, "I'll take you to your room to put your things away first, and then we'll come out to eat."

“Okay.” Yuan Mengge and the others nodded.

Wei Jingting led them into the main hall. Seeing the elderly ladies and gentlemen sitting in the living room, she pointed to one of them and said, "This is my grandmother, this is my grandfather. This is my third great-uncle, and this is my eldest uncle."

Yuan Mengge and the others greeted the elders in unison: "Hello, Grandma and Grandpa, hello, Third Uncle, hello, Eldest Uncle."

Wei Jingting's grandfather smiled slightly and said, "You are all Xiaoting's classmates, right? Put your things down and go eat quickly."

"Okay." Yuan Mengge and the others responded, then turned and went into Wei Jingting's room, placing their backpacks on her bed.

He then came out of the room and went into the yard.

Wei Jingting led them to a table that hadn't been fully set up yet and said, "Please sit here and wait a while. The food will be served once the table is full. I have to go help out, so I can't sit with you. I'm sorry, please eat first."

Yuan Mengge waved her hand and said, "It's okay, you go ahead with your work, don't worry about us."

Hearing her say that, the others nodded in agreement: "Yes, don't worry about us, we'll be fine."

Wei Jingting said apologetically, "I'm sorry, I'll have more fun with you tomorrow."

The group waved their hands repeatedly, saying, "It's alright, it's alright! You go ahead and get busy!"

Wei Jingting then turned and left, then suddenly said something to a young man in his twenties, and pointed to Yuan Mengge and her group's table.

That guy glanced over here and nodded.

Wei Jingting then went to help.

After a while, the guy brought over a few canned drinks and walked up to Yuan Mengge, saying, "You guys are Xiaoting's roommates, right? Here, have some drinks. I'm Xiaoting's older brother, you can just call me Brother Ahui."

Yuan Mengge and the others looked at the older brother who resembled Wei Jingting somewhat, and all smiled and nodded in greeting: "Hello, Brother Ahui. Thank you."

Ah Yao said, "Please wait a little while, the food will be served soon."

"Okay," they all replied politely.

Then they looked at the older brother, who said he was Wei Jingting's older brother. They remembered that Wei Jingting had two older brothers and one older sister.

She is the youngest.

Yuan Mengge and the others sat and waited for their food, while taking in the surroundings of Wei Jingting's house.

Their yard was quite large, and the banquet tables were set up from the front yard to the open space next to the house.

Preparations for today's banquet began this morning; we had one meal at noon and another in the afternoon.

The dishes were all the same, with no changes.

It was just a bit more lively in the afternoon, with about half as many people coming as in the morning.

After Yuan Mengge and the others sat for a while, their table was not full yet, but the dishes were served quickly.

The village's big pot dishes are very fragrant, with plenty of ingredients to fill you up, and the cooks are all quite skilled.

Children who grew up in the countryside loved eating all kinds of feasts because they had fish and meat to eat.

Yuan Mengge looked at the dishes that were served, picked up her chopsticks, and started eating.

There were nine dishes in total, seven meat dishes and two vegetarian dishes.

Chicken, duck, fish, shrimp, pork ribs, pig's feet, etc.

"Wow, this is delicious," Yuan Mengge said to them while gnawing on a pork rib.

The group of people, along with several other strangers who had come to the feast, sat together and ate their own food.

After a hearty meal, Yuan Mengge and the others got up to help clear the plates. They poured the leftover food into a bucket and then piled the plates up at the dishwashing area.

With nothing else to do, the group went to Wei Jingting to ask for arrangements.

"Squad leader, do you need our help?"

Wei Jingting was initially embarrassed to ask them for help, since they were first-time guests.

But after being persuaded by Yuan Mengge for a while, she hesitated for a moment, then turned around and ran to ask her mother.

After listening, Wei's mother thought about it and did not refuse. She then asked them to help serve the dishes and clear away the plates.

They helped out until dark. Gradually, the people who came to eat the feast left. Around seven or eight o'clock, only a few tables remained, still drinking and chatting happily.

After finishing up, the remaining cleanup work was left to the Wei family members, and Yuan Mengge and the others went to Wei Jingting's room to sit down and rest.

After Wei Jingting finished her work, she suddenly brought in a few bowls and spoons, placed them on the table, and said to them, "There's taro soup. I'll bring it in for you to drink."

After saying that, he went out again, and after a while, he brought in a pot of taro soup.

It's actually just taro sweet soup.

"Come on, scoop it yourself." Wei Jingting put the pot on the table, then sat down and wiped her sweat.

"Phew, I'm exhausted."

"Are you done with your work?" Yuan Mengge asked, looking at her.

Wei Jingting said, "Yes, I'm done. My older brother and sister will handle the finishing touches; I don't need to go."

After a while, a girl in her early twenties came in with a bowl and smiled at the group, saying, "Is the taro soup sweet enough? I wonder if you put in enough sugar."

"It's alright. I think it's enough," Yuan Mengge and the others said.

Wei Jingting said, "This is my older sister, Fenglan."

Yuan Mengge and the others: "Hello, sister~"

After ladling out a bowl of taro soup, Wei Fenglan stood by the door and said to them, "Please make yourselves at home, don't be so polite. By the way, you're all Xiaoting's roommates, right? What are your names?"

Yuan Mengge said, "My name is Aping."

"My name is Su Yue," Su Yue said.

"My name is Guo Ju."

"I am Cao Dan. We are not only roommates, but also classmates."

Wei Fenglan nodded upon hearing this: "Oh~~ You'll see each other very little after graduation, have fun."

After chatting for a few minutes, she left Wei Jingting's room.

"By the way, class monitor, where are we sleeping tonight? Your room probably doesn't have enough beds for the five of us!" Su Yue suddenly asked Wei Jingting.

Wei Jingting calmly replied, "Don't worry, there's plenty of room at my house. I'll sleep with my sister tonight, and you can sleep in my room and my second brother's room."

"And what about your second brother?" Guo Ju asked.

“My second brother can sleep with my eldest brother, or he can sleep somewhere else, like in the hut, or at my uncle’s house, or at his friend’s house,” Wei Jingting replied.

So, a place for sleeping that night was arranged.

After taking a shower, the girls squeezed onto Wei Jingting's bed to play cards and read books. Perhaps because it was their first time visiting the class monitor's house, they were all quite excited and didn't want to sleep until midnight.

Then her older sister ran over and knocked on the door, peeking in to tell them to go to sleep early.
