Chapter 2 The Wedding Banquet

Under the watchful eyes of a crowd, the newlyweds entered the courtyard and then headed towards the house.

The young woman holding the umbrella for Li Xue'e was Yuan Mengge's godmother. The godmother was also beautiful, with a face full of collagen, youthful and radiant.

She was the prettiest of the bridesmaids.

Several young women followed behind, and the groomsmen carried the dowry unloaded from the car.

Yuan Mengge was observing these people when she was suddenly pulled away by someone next to her.

“Pingping, here, take this to your brother and sister-in-law and tell them to give the elders candy and cigarettes first before they can go into the room.”

Yuan Mengge turned her head and saw that her middle-aged grandmother was holding a fruit plate with cigarettes, wedding candies and cakes in it.

When the newlyweds arrive at the family home, they should first offer candy and cigarettes to the elders, and then serve tea a little later.

Yuan Mengge silently carried the plate over and called her own mother "sister-in-law".

Li Xue'e glanced at her before taking the plate, and then walked with Yuan Dasheng toward the elders sitting in the central hall.

Only after the cigarettes and candies have been distributed can the bride be allowed to enter the bridal chamber to rest.

Then the groom went out and continued to hand out cigarettes to the groomsmen and guests in the courtyard.

Taking advantage of this moment, Yuan Mengge slipped into the new house and quietly walked to her godmother's side.

"Sister... there's something I want to tell you."

Her godmother, Hu Yuanyuan, gave her a strange look but didn't say anything. Then Li Xue'e asked curiously, "What is it?"

Yuan Mengge looked at the children who were still gathered in the room watching the bride and called them all out: "You all go out for a bit, go out, and come back to watch later."

The children were reluctantly dragged outside by her, and she closed the door behind them.

Then Yuan Mengge pulled Hu Yuanyuan aside and whispered to her, "Sister, remember, don't drink too much. I'll prepare a bottle of fake alcohol for you later, you can decide what to do. Also, don't be alone, make sure someone is with you, okay? Because some men are eyeing you... trying to take advantage of you while you're drunk, so be careful."

Regardless, we should first give the person involved a heads-up, so that she is on guard.

Upon hearing her words, Hu Yuanyuan's face immediately darkened.

She looked at Yuan Mengge and said, "Are you telling the truth?"

How come I couldn't see it before?

Yuan Mengge nodded, then solemnly reminded her, "Anyway, you have to be careful today, understand?"

Seeing the two women whispering to each other, the others curiously came over and asked, "What are you talking about?"

Hu Yuanyuan didn't look too good and told them everything Yuan Mengge had said.

Li Xue'e's expression also darkened.

Just then, someone knocked on the door and called out, "Bride, come out quickly, it's time to serve tea. Oh dear, why is the door locked? Open the door quickly."

The voice was unmistakably Sister Yuan's.

Yuan Mengge went to open the door, then looked at Hu Yuanyuan and said, "Sister, remember what I said."

Then he opened the door and went out.

Then Yuan Dasheng walked over and waved to Li Xue'e: "Quickly, come out and serve tea."

The newlyweds come out to serve tea to their elders, and after serving the tea, they sit at the wedding table to drink and eat.

Then the best man and maid of honor accompany the newlyweds to eat and drink. The newlyweds need to eat something first, because they will be toasting the guests later.

Yuan Mengge felt hungry, so she took a bowl, filled it with rice, went to the kitchen to get some vegetables, put them in a bowl, and then found a quiet corner to sit down and eat.

The bride and groom had barely sat down and taken a few bites of their meal when people outside started bringing in glasses and bottles of wine to toast them.

Then the groom's parents came in and took the two of them out to toast everyone.

When the two of them went out, the best man and maid of honor also went out, as they needed to help fend off drinks.

However, guests usually don't pour drinks for the bride; they only pour them for the groom, and the bride just takes a sip or a small sip.

Yuan Mengge wasn't worried about this part, because after they finished toasting, the groomsmen and some relatives and friends of the same generation would come in to drink with the bride and groom.

The groomsmen can relax and drink as much as they want.

That's when we should be worried.

While Yuan Dasheng and his wife, along with their best man and bridesmaids, were being led out to toast the guests, the groomsmen sitting at the newlyweds' table began eating and drinking with the bridesmaids.

Yuan Mengge ate in a corner while observing these people.

She didn't know which of the groomsmen was the main culprit, because Hu Yuanyuan hadn't told her beforehand.

When Yuan Mengge heard Hu Yuanyuan tell this story, she was so angry that she wanted to beat that person to death.

But Hu Yuanyuan was worried that she was a professional player, so she didn't dare to tell her.

Because if she threw that punch, the other person might really die.

More importantly, it will also affect Yuan Mengge's career, and Hu Yuanyuan refuses to say who that person is.

Yuan Mengge looked at each of the groomsmen one by one.

Her father wasn't a good person, and naturally, his brothers weren't good people either.

Not long after, the bride and groom returned after toasting everyone.

The groom and his best man were both drunk quite a bit, and their eyes and faces turned red.

Only the bride and bridesmaid remained relatively sober. As they entered, they gave Yuan Mengge, who was standing in the hallway outside the door holding a rice bowl, a meaningful look.

After Yuan Dasheng and his best man entered, they both sat down on the stools, almost unsteady on their feet.

"Hahaha~~ This is only the first round, Ah Sheng, and you're already done for?"

"Alan, you can't handle it either. You're usually a good drinker, aren't you?"

The groomsmen all laughed and teased him and his best man.
