After saying that, Yao Dongqing looked at Yuan Mengge angrily and said, "And what are you saying? What do you mean by marrying into a bad family? Aren't you part of our family? Even cats and dogs don't look down on their poor family, and you're looking down on them?"
While picking up food, Yuan Mengge retorted without hesitation, "Did I say we're poor? I said we're bad people! I wouldn't have married into this family if it were me; there's not a single good person among them. If I had a choice, I wouldn't want to be born into this family either!"
Upon hearing this, Yao Dongqing angrily threw down her bowl, pointed at her, and said, "What did you say? Say it again!"
These kinds of words are the most hurtful to any mother.
Yuan Mengge wasn't the real Yuan Pingping, but she knew that saying such things under Yuan Pingping's identity would infuriate Yao Dongqing.
Upon hearing Yuan Mengge's words, Yuan Dasheng, who was just walking in, became so angry that he pointed at her and started cursing: "Then what kind of good person are you? We're not good people, but don't you have the same blood as us? So you're a good person?"
Then she added, "Who taught you to talk like that? You talk to your mother like that? Did you even consider her feelings? How dare you say such things? Huh?"
Yuan Mengge snorted coldly and ignored him.
If she were Yuan Pingping, she certainly wouldn't say that, but she isn't.
She could never forget how Yao Dongqing treated the sick Li Xue'e, and she could never forgive Yao Dongqing.
Yuan Xiangyong walked in and also heard what Yuan Mengge had just said.
I had initially felt a little goodwill towards Yuan Mengge for throwing a hornet's nest at the Li family's house today, but I didn't expect that this goodwill would be ruined so quickly by Yuan Mengge.
"I think you've been possessed by a ghost these past few days! Are you out of your mind? Huh? If you're going to say things like that, then don't stay in this house! Get out!"
Yuan Mengge carried her rice bowl out, saying as she went, "Do you think I'll leave so you can bully Sister Xue'e? Let me tell you, unless Yuan Dasheng divorces her, I won't leave this house."
The way she said that made it sound as if she only stayed because of Li Xue'e.
Upon hearing her say that she only stayed in the family for an outsider, the three members of the Yuan family became so angry that they all started cursing.
"Then don't eat our food! Don't live in our house! Get out!"
"What a waste of money to raise such an ungrateful child! What's the point of spending so much money on your schooling? To teach you how to argue with us?"
"For the past ten years or so, you've eaten our food, worn our clothes, used our products, and taken our money to go to school. Now you're not even an adult yet and you're already learning to be ungrateful, is that it? Do you even understand what ingratitude means? Did your teacher ever teach you that?"
"I think you've lost your mind, haven't you!"
Yuan Mengge didn't argue with them; instead, she took the rice bowl and gave it to Li Xue'e.
The three members of the Yuan family sat in the kitchen, continuing to curse and grumble, completely bewildered as to why the girl had become like this in the past few days.
Yuan Mengge brought the food into the room and saw Li Xue'e wiping away tears.
When Li Xue'e saw her come in, she quickly turned her head and wiped her eyes.
Yuan Mengge put the bowl on the table, then sat down next to her and patted her back, saying, "Don't cry, don't cry. It's no good to cry for these people. Don't waste your tears. Let's eat first. Only when we're full can we win the battle, you know?"
Li Xue'e was amused by her words and asked in confusion, "What are you talking about? What war?"
Yuan Mengge said to her, "Don't expect my parents to treat you like family. They'll never treat you like their own daughter. They just want you to give them a grandson as soon as possible so they can carry on the Yuan family line."
Li Xue'e said in confusion, "I married into this family to carry on their family line, right? What's wrong with that?"
Upon hearing this, Yuan Mengge knew that her thinking had been heavily influenced by the Li family, and said to her:
"First of all, your thinking is wrong. Their requirement for you to carry on the family line is to give birth to a son. If you give birth to a daughter, they will look down on you and say that you cannot give birth to a son."
But this idea is fundamentally flawed. Leaving aside the fact that boys and girls are equal, they're just treating you as a breeding machine, not as a human being to be respected, understand?
Li Xue'e looked somewhat bewildered and confused when she heard these words.
After all, this was contrary to the ideas she had been taught since childhood, and everyone around her said it was only natural and correct.
But now Yuan Mengge is telling her that all of this is wrong.
This left Li Xue'e very confused and bewildered, but she also often felt that what Yuan Mengge said made some sense.
So she stared blankly at Yuan Mengge: "Huh...?"
"Anyway, you have to put yourself first. You are the most important person. You have to protect yourself, your dignity, your personality, your body, and so on. Yuan Mengge calmly said, "I'm not afraid of their insults. They can only insult me verbally. Anyway, if I hear them, I'll insult them back. I have a mouth too."
Looking at her, Li Xue'e suddenly felt a little better.
However, she had just eaten noodles outside and wasn't very hungry.
She said, "I'm not very hungry yet, you eat first."
Yuan Mengge: "Then leave it here for now. Eat it if you get hungry."
After saying that, she walked out of the bedroom and then turned and went to the back wall of the house.
