Chapter 73 A Walk on the Beach

While standing on the beach, Yuan Mengge turned to Li Xue'e and called out, "Sister Xue'e, take off your shoes and come step on the sand!"

Seeing her bare feet stepping on the fine sand, Li Xue'e felt a strong urge to try it herself.

"Oh~ you're here." She walked out of the coconut grove, then took off her shoes and stepped onto the sand.

The sand near the edge of the coconut grove was rather dirty and messy, with some weeds and short twigs mixed in, making it a bit uncomfortable to walk on.

However, once we got out of that area and onto the clean sand ahead, it felt much more comfortable.

She had never been to the beach before; this was her first time, and also the first time she had walked barefoot on the sand.

Seeing that the two of them had taken off their shoes, Yuan Shuyun also took off her shoes and walked on the sand like them.

Unlike Li Xue'e, who was visiting for the first time, she had been here many times.

Li Xue'e jogged over to Yuan Mengge's side, looked at the seawater, and asked, "Isn't the water very cold?"

Yuan Mengge said, "Why don't you go down and try?"

Li Xue'e smiled and shook her head: "Never mind, I don't want it."

The two walked along the beach, stepping on the sand to the other side, watching the vast sea as waves were pushed in from afar and finally crashed onto the beach.

My mood has calmed down considerably.

As Li Xue'e walked, she suddenly remembered something, turned to look at Yuan Mengge, and asked, "By the way, you've come to the city, does your mother know?"

Yuan Mengge said, "Didn't she tell you before you came? She came after me, but she couldn't catch up."

Li Xue'e said, "She did say she came after you, but she didn't know you had already arrived at your fifth uncle's house, did she? And she also said that you had money but didn't give it to her, instead giving it to your sister-in-law..."

At this point, she looked at Yuan Mengge.

Yuan Mengge chuckled softly and said, "When we get back, I'll give her the rest of the money, and I'll have her sign a note. After that, they won't have the right to control you or force you to have Yuan Dasheng's child. You can go wherever you want and do whatever you want."

Li Xue'e looked at her, completely baffled as to why she would go to such lengths for her: "Pingping, why are you so good to me? If word gets out, people will think you're my own sister..."

Before the marriage, they were not close sisters-in-law, and the younger sister-in-law seemed quite unhappy with her before the marriage.

The other party's attitude towards her had changed so drastically in the past few days that she couldn't help but suspect their intentions.

If a complete stranger suddenly becomes nice to you, offering unsolicited favors, there's probably something fishy going on.

But then I wondered, what could I possibly gain from a girl who's only a teenager?

Just to get her away from her brother?

So she has been observing Yuan Mengge for the past few days.

I don't know if she kept urging me to leave, whether it was for my own good or for Yuan Dasheng's.

If Li Xue'e hadn't seen Yuan Mengge really beat Yuan Dasheng into a pulp, she wouldn't have believed that Yuan Mengge had been doing this for her own good these past few days.

Without God's perspective, she naturally didn't know why Yuan Mengge was so earnestly advising her to leave.

All she knew was that this was only the second person in her life she had met who treated her so well.

The first one is my good friend Hu Yuanyuan.

Perhaps it's because birds of a feather flock together, but both she and Hu Yuanyuan are gentle-natured.

But at least Hu Yuanyuan's family treated her well, unlike herself...

Hearing her words and seeing her probing gaze, Yuan Mengge said, "How should I put it? It's a long and complicated story... And you might not believe it, but I've been having dreams about the future lately... At first, I didn't believe it either, but I also dreamed about what they wanted to do to Sister Yuanyuan at the wedding."

After hearing her words, Li Xue'e looked at her speechlessly: "...(ー_ー)"

Upon seeing her expression, Yuan Mengge laughed and said, "Haha~ Look at your expression~ I was just kidding! You actually believed me?"

Li Xue'e: "..."

Yuan Mengge said, "I just don't want my brother to have a good life. You've seen how biased my parents are, haven't you? If I'm not having a good life, he shouldn't either! Not only you, but if he marries someone else in the future, I'll ruin it for him."

Li Xue'e looked at her in surprise: "You hate him that much just because your parents are biased towards him?"

This reason doesn't seem necessary, does it?

Yuan Mengge gritted her teeth and said, "Hate? How could I not hate him? It's one thing for my parents to favor him, but he himself treats me badly. I've been beaten and scolded by him since I was little. Why should I let him have a good life? A piece of trash like him is a good deal for any decent girl to marry him. If he's going to marry, he should marry someone with the same character as him!"

Then she glanced at Li Xue'e and shook her head: "You won't do. With your personality, marrying him will only shorten your life. You won't live to be forty."

Li Xue'e: "...Just say it, why are you cursing me?"

Yuan Mengge said, "If you don't believe me, then so be it."

Li Xue'e said, "I will find a way to pay you back your money later."

Yuan Mengge: "First of all, you need to go out and find a job to earn some stable money. But before you go out to earn money, I need to take you somewhere. If it weren't for the fact that school is about to start, I would have liked to help you with this myself."

Upon hearing this, Li Xue'e looked at her and asked in confusion, "Huh? Where to?"

Yuan Mengge said, "I'll send you to learn self-defense skills and techniques. I'll find someone to train you for six months, so that I won't worry about your safety after you go out to work."

After hearing this, Li Xue'e looked confused and puzzled: "Huh??? Self-defense? Six months of training??? Is that really necessary?"

For girls of her generation, the word "self-defense" was unheard of, and to spend six months learning it seemed like a huge waste of time.

She had no concept of it at all; to her, it was something new but not something ordinary people should do.

Yuan Mengge said, "If it were me, I certainly wouldn't need to, but for you... I think it's absolutely necessary."

As for where to send her for training, she has already decided.

In this era, there were no training camps, but many skilled individuals in the community were willing to take on a few disciples and provide them with training.

Six months later, she will be on vacation after finishing her middle school entrance exam, and I will train with her personally for two more months.

Just then, Yuan Shuyun ran up from behind: "What are you two talking about? Wait for me! Why did you leave me behind?"

As Li Xue'e and the other person were talking, they heard her voice and turned to look behind them.

Yuan Mengge: "We didn't talk about much, we just thought about whether we should stay here tonight, since there are no buses back tonight anyway."
