Li Weidong, along with Shen Xiaoyan and Zhang Bin, boarded the car bound for Yinan.
Along the way, the three chatted and laughed, their words filled with anticipation for the future.
Li Weidong got carried away and couldn't help but say, "Don't look at how backward and inconvenient we are now. In another twenty years, our country will develop in a way that will shock the whole world!"
By then, skyscrapers will be everywhere, and cars, which are rare now, will be all over the streets.
Airplanes and high-speed trains are commonplace; wherever you want to go, all you need is a ticket, and the journey is incredibly fast!
Zhang Bin couldn't help but curl his lip: "Wei Dong, I agree with the speed of our country's development, but I don't believe you can say that it has shocked the world."
"I don't believe it either!"
Shen Xiaoyan nodded in agreement: "There are still so many people who don't have enough to eat. Twenty years sounds like a long time, but it's actually gone in the blink of an eye. How can things change that quickly?"
Li Weidong laughed: "Just wait and see, our country is not far from eradicating poverty completely."
"In the future, everyone will be able to live a good life!"
Even in the poorest remote mountain villages, the government has poverty alleviation teams to ensure that everyone has enough to eat and wear.
"That era was the best of times..."
A glimmer of longing flashed in Li Weidong's eyes.
Even though he lived a muddled life due to various setbacks in his past life, he was still aware of the changes in the outside world.
This country will only get better and better!
Zhang Bin joked, "Look at what you're saying, it's like you've actually experienced it!"
Li Weidong came to his senses and smiled mysteriously: "Maybe I've been through it myself?"
"You're talking nonsense!"
The two started arguing.
Shen Xiaoyan sat to the side watching the two bicker, and the corners of her mouth couldn't help but turn up.
She looked up out the window and happened to pass a field of rapeseed flowers.
Under the blue sky and white clouds, the golden rapeseed flowers are a breathtaking sight.
Shen Xiaoyan's deepest aspirations were also amplified.
The future...
What a beautiful word!
After a bumpy three-hour bus ride, the three finally arrived in Yinan County.
Zhang Bin's home is located in a small village in Zhangzhuang Town, Yinan County, which is some distance from the county seat.
Li Weidong had been here a few times before. Each time he got off the bus, he had to transfer to a minibus to get to the town. If he was lucky, he would be able to catch a market day and get a vehicle into the village.
If it's not market day, the town is deserted; there are hardly any cars or people to be seen.
That means you have to walk more than ten miles to get there.
But now that he's not short of money, he's planning to hire a car to go in.
Before anyone could even speak, Zhang Bin waved to someone in the distance.
"Uncle, over here, over here!"
As he shouted, a dilapidated minivan drove up.
The car door opened, and a man who looked to be in his fifties stepped out, his deeply lined face beaming with a smile that resembled a blooming chrysanthemum.
Zhang Bin introduced, "Wei Dong, this is our village chief."
After saying that, he introduced her to the village chief: "Village chief, this is Li Weidong, whom I told you about. This is also our partner, Sister Shen Xiaoyan."
Hello everyone!
The village chief rubbed his hands vigorously on his clothes before extending his hand: "I am Zhang Datong, the village chief of Zhangjia Village."
"When Zhang Bin told us that you were willing to come and lead the whole village in growing mushrooms, the villagers were overjoyed!"
At this point, his eyes reddened, and he said apologetically, "I'm sorry, I got too excited. Life here is really tough!"
Zhangjia Village is located in a remote mountain valley with inconvenient transportation. It's not that no one has tried to raise livestock or grow crops, but firstly, there's no one to teach them, and secondly, even if they succeed, transportation and sales are major problems.
Previously, when Zhang Bin was doing it, he also suggested that Zhang Bin expand the scale and bring other villagers along to do it.
But Zhang Bin said that his abilities were limited, and the sales channels he had found were barely enough to support his own and his relatives' mushroom sales, so he couldn't possibly help anyone else.
Now that Li Weidong has suddenly appeared, how could he not be happy?
Li Weidong grasped Zhang Datong's hand and said with a smile, "Village Chief, don't get excited, let's get in the car and talk first!"
"Yes, yes, get on the bus, get on the bus! What a lapse in my memory!"
Zhang Datong quickly ushered everyone into the car.
The driver was a young man in his early twenties with an honest and simple appearance. He greeted us and started driving.
Sitting in the car, Zhang Datong became increasingly embarrassed: "Our village is poor, and the whole village can't afford a decent car. This car is borrowed, so please don't mind it."
The car was indeed in terrible condition; the seats were riddled with holes, and there was even a large hole in the door.
Despite its dilapidated state, it was clearly well-maintained, with the entire car thoroughly cleaned inside and out.
Li Weidong couldn't help but sigh inwardly, "Zhangjia Village has shown all its sincerity!"
They chatted along the way and soon arrived at the village.
Before even entering the village, you could see a large crowd waiting at the village entrance.
Li Weidong was startled: "This...this was all waiting for us?"
"you do not say!"
Zhang Datong laughed and said, "Everyone was excited when they knew you were coming today! They're all looking forward to growing mushrooms and making big money with you, so that's why we're waiting at the village entrance!"
Li Weidong chuckled: "Let everyone go back first. We've been traveling for ages, we need to rest, don't we?"
"Let's start the work first thing tomorrow morning, don't rush."
Zhang Datong nodded quickly: "Okay, I'll send them back right away!"
As he spoke, he rolled down the car window, leaned out, and started yelling, "What are you all standing here for? Have you finished your work in the fields? Go back, all of you!"
A group of villagers swarmed over and started asking questions all at once.
