Li Weidong arrived in the city, and before he even reached the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, he saw Ji Dahai waiting at the entrance.
"Brother Weidong, you've arrived!"
Ji Dahai jogged over, beaming, "I've taken care of all the formalities, you just need to sign."
Li Weidong parked the car and nodded, saying, "Thank you for your hard work."
A simple, understated sentence, yet it made Ji Dahai's heart flutter with joy.
He shook his head repeatedly: "It's not hard work, it's not hard work at all, it's just a small thing!"
In his heart, Li Weidong was like a god. Being able to work for Li Weidong and receive his praise was more joyful than drinking honey.
Li Weidong smiled and followed him into the bank.
The bank manager personally came out to greet them.
When he saw Li Weidong, he was stunned for a moment and couldn't help but take a few more glances.
After all, someone who can command such respect from Ji Dahai, the richest man in the county and a figure with connections in both the legitimate and underworld circles, must be no ordinary person.
It turns out it was such a young man?
I don't know what's so special about them...
Li Weidong noticed his gaze but didn't pay it any mind. After signing the document, he stood up and said, "Alright, I'll be going now. I'll have to trouble Brother Ji to take care of the rest."
Ji Dahai quickly replied, "Don't worry, leave it to me. I guarantee I'll get it done!"
Then he added, "By the way, my shop received a batch of new ingredients today. Why don't you come over for a meal?"
His words were respectful and ingratiating.
The bank manager was increasingly shocked.
If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, who would believe that Ji Dahai had this side to him?
Li Weidong shook his head: "No need, I have things to do. I'll go next time!"
I don't know what happened to Xing Guodong, I need to go and check on him as soon as possible.
Ji Dahai was somewhat disappointed, but he didn't say much. He just nodded and said, "Okay, then you go ahead and get busy. If you have time after you're done, come to the restaurant and I'll have the kitchen prepare some nice dishes to treat you."
"Um."
Li Weidong waved his hand, got into the car, and headed straight for the police station.
He had never been to this police station before. After arriving, he parked his car and started to walk inside.
"What are you doing!"
The security guard stopped him, looked him up and down, and asked, "Are you reporting a crime or looking for someone?"
Li Weidong explained, "I've come to see your Captain Xing."
"Looking for Captain Xing?"
The security guard frowned: "Do you have an appointment?"
Li Weidong thought for a moment, then shook his head and said, "No, it was your Captain Xing who called me over."
There's no way to make an appointment for this!
The security guard's face immediately darkened: "You dare to come here without an appointment?"
"And you even said Captain Xing called you? Stop trying to make yourself look good!"
Who is Captain Xing?
Captain of the Criminal Investigation Team!
A person who is extremely busy!
If every Tom, Dick, and Harry comes to his door looking for him, wouldn't that create chaos?
Li Weidong was speechless: "It really was your Captain Xing who sent me!"
Unfortunately, he left in a hurry and didn't bring his mobile phone with him, otherwise he could have just made a phone call and been done with it.
Now that's bad, we can't even get through the door, where are we supposed to find someone?
The gatekeeper gave them the order to leave: "Alright, you're awake. Stop blocking the way and go somewhere cool to stay!"
Li Weidong sighed, inwardly grumbling.
Xing Guodong, it's not that I don't want to help you, it's just that your threshold is too high, I can't get in!
He turned to leave.
As luck would have it, Xing Guodong came out.
Upon seeing him, he immediately became excited: "Brother Weidong, you've finally arrived! Come in, come in!"
As he spoke, he rushed to Li Weidong's side with a broad smile.
The gatekeeper was dumbfounded and stammered, "Captain Xing, he... he's your guest?"
"yes!"
Xing Guodong, unaware of what had just happened, solemnly said, "This is a distinguished guest!"
They even deliberately emphasized the word 'expensive'.
The gatekeeper's face turned deathly pale in an instant, and he unconsciously looked at Li Weidong with a pleading look in his eyes.
If Captain Xing finds out how he treated his distinguished guest, he'll probably lose his job.
Li Weidong naturally didn't care, and simply said to Xing Guodong, "Alright, let's go inside and talk!"
Xing Guodong nodded quickly: "Okay, okay, let's go inside and talk. My brother-in-law just gave me a cake of good tea. I'll brew it for you to try later."
As he spoke, he led Li Weidong into the house.
The security guard finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Then, however, he became puzzled.
I don't know who this young man is, but he made Captain Xing so enthusiastic, even respectful.
You know, I've never seen him act like this, not even with the bureau chief!
The gatekeeper thought to himself, secretly memorizing Li Weidong's appearance.
This is a very important guest. Next time we come, we absolutely must not misjudge him!
...
Xing Guodong took Li Weidong to his office and then started making tea.
Li Weidong said directly, "Stop with the formalities and tell me what's going on!"
If something hadn't happened, he would never have called me in such a hurry.
Xing Guodong gave a wry smile: "It's a long story. Our deputy director has been transferred."
"Um?"
Li Weidong raised an eyebrow.
Xing Guodong continued, "Logically speaking, with the deputy director gone, the position is vacant, and the only people with the best chance of taking over are me and Fu Junqiang from the second criminal investigation team."
"Isn't this a good thing?"
Li Weidong picked up the kettle on the table, poured himself a glass of water, and asked, somewhat puzzled, "You have a chance to be promoted, so why are you looking so gloomy?"
