Chapter 139 Arrest

Chapter 139 Arrest

Ding Chunmei gave Zhou Yi the impression of being capable, pragmatic, proactive and having a sense of justice.

People with this kind of personality can easily become workaholics.

Zhou Yi couldn't help but think of his ex-wife in his previous life. To some extent, there were some things in Ding Chunmei that were very similar to her.

This type of people can often accomplish great things and move forward courageously towards their goals, but the prerequisite is that you are friends or colleagues with this type of people, not family members.

Because they are fully committed to their work, they need people around them to pay for other things.

Zhou Yi did not reject Ding Chunmei's idea. He took her back to the Municipal Bureau and arranged her in the office of the Third Brigade to charge the camera.

Ding Chunmei didn't disturb anyone. She found a corner, took out a pen and notebook, and started writing.

At about two o'clock in the morning, just when Zhou Yi was drowsy, the phone on the table suddenly rang, scaring him away from his sleepiness.

Ding Chunmei, who was lying in the corner, was also awakened.

"Hello, this is the office of the Third Brigade of the Municipal Bureau."

A familiar voice on the phone said anxiously, "I'm Zhang Ning, a police officer from the Nanhu Subdistrict Police Station. I want to report a situation. I think I've discovered the whereabouts of Sun Kun, who was mentioned in the joint investigation notice."

"Master?"

"Zhou Yi? It's you."

Zhou Yi lowered his voice and asked, "Master, what's going on?"

Not long ago, on the way back from Liyang County, Zhou Yi had been thinking about how to catch Sun Kun as soon as possible.

Although he has the memory of his previous life as a guarantee, it is better for Sun Kun to be caught as soon as possible.

Zhou Yi's original plan was to guide Zhang Ning to patrol the area around the public telephone where Sun Kun made his first call tomorrow night, because that area happened to be under the jurisdiction of the Nanhu Street Police Station.

At that time, let Zhang Ning report Sun Kun's whereabouts and then capture him directly.

This makes sense.

He explained to Zhang Ning that the city bureau had located several locations where Sun Kun frequented and had sent officers to monitor him, but that some other locations were secondary locations and lacked sufficient police resources. Zhou Yi, however, felt that these areas warranted patrols, so he asked Zhang Ning to keep an eye on them tomorrow.

Unexpectedly, Zhang Ning called me in the early morning.

"Zhou Yi, I really found someone who looks very much like Sun Kun in the joint investigation notice. Do you want to come over and take a look?" Zhang Ning's tone on the phone was very serious.

"Master, where are you now?"

"I'm at the intersection of Youdian Road and Jianshe West Road."

Postal and Telecommunications Road? Wasn't the public phone used for the first call on Postal and Telecommunications Road? How could Sun Kun appear nearby so early?

"Okay, we'll be there right away. Master, don't be impulsive and don't put yourself in danger." Zhou Yi reminded him that Zhang Ning was just an ordinary police officer and it would be troublesome if anything dangerous happened.

"I know. I'll just stare and do nothing until you come."

After hanging up the phone, Zhou Yi found that Chen Yan had already picked up the car keys. They had just been sorting out Sun Kun's social relationships in the office.

"Is there something going on?" Chen Yan asked.

Zhou Yi nodded: "My former master at the police station said that someone who looked like Sun Kun was found. Brother Yan, shall we go check it out?"

Ding Chunmei immediately stood up and said, "Officer Zhou, can I come with you? The camera is fully charged."

"Okay. But remember, prioritize your own safety."

Ding Chunmei nodded immediately: "Don't worry, Officer Zhou, I won't cause any trouble for you."

Zhou Yi and his team quickly drove to the agreed location. Wu Yongcheng had let Wu Yongcheng drive away the Santana from the Third Brigade, so they drove a police car.

When they were approaching the intersection of Jianshe West Road and Youdian Road, Zhou Yi asked Chen Yan to turn off the car lights to avoid alerting the enemy.

As the car door opened, a gust of cold wind rushed in, cheering up the three people.

It's April now, and it doesn't feel too cold even in the middle of the night.

"Zhou Yi?" a voice called out from the darkness.

"Master, is that you?"

"It's me." Zhang Ning came over.

With the dim light, Zhou Yi saw that Zhang Ning was not wearing a police uniform, but casual clothes.

"Master, what's going on?"

"Look, after I got home from get off work last night, I kept thinking about Sun Kun. I couldn't sleep because of it. Since I couldn't sleep, I decided to go out for a run. I've always had the habit of running at night. You know this Zhou Yi."

Zhou Yi nodded.

"I ended up running around here. Then I saw a middle-aged man standing suspiciously downstairs of that building."

Zhang Ning said this, pointing to a building in front.

Zhou Yi looked up and saw a six-story building. It was either a community building or a residential building built along the street. The first floor was usually commercial housing.

Zhou Yi discovered that at the moment, only one window on the fifth floor of the entire building had a light on, but it could be seen that the light was coming from the edge of the tight curtains.

Zhang Ning continued, "The presence of someone in the middle of the night was already suspicious enough, but then I discovered the person who came downstairs to open the door was a prostitute."

"Prostitute?" Chen Yan asked.

"Well, we local police officers are very sensitive to this kind of people. I knew that woman was involved in the sex trade the moment I saw her."

Zhou Yi pointed to the lighted window on the fifth floor and asked, "Master, is this the one?"

Zhang Ning nodded. "When the prostitute came downstairs to open the security door for him, the lights came on and I saw that she looked a bit like Sun Kun from the joint investigation notice. So I called you right away."

"How long have they been up there?"

"I went up there about ten minutes before I called you."

Zhou Yi winked at Chen Yan, who understood, and they both drew their guns immediately.

When Ding Chunmei saw them draw their guns, she suddenly became nervous.

"Master, you stay downstairs and call for reinforcements if any other suspicious people appear."

"OK."

"Reporter Ding, I suggest you keep your distance from us and stay safe."

Ding Chunmei nodded quickly and held the camera tightly in her hand.

The three of them arrived at the entrance of the corridor. Zhou Yi pulled the iron door, which made a bang but was not opened.

"What should we do?" Chen Yan asked in a low voice.

Zhou Yi checked the iron door and lock and found that this kind of iron fence door could be used to reach in from the side.

But Zhou Yi could only barely fit a little more than his palm in. Chen Yan tried but couldn't reach the door lock inside.

"Let me try." Ding Chunmei said in a low voice.

Zhou Yi and Chen Yan made way. Ding Chunmei rolled up her sleeves, stretched her slender arms into the iron fence, and then easily opened the door.

"Thank you very much."

Zhou Yi thanked them and immediately opened the door and went upstairs, walking in front, followed closely by Chen Yan. Ding Chunmei was holding a camera and was about seven or eight steps away from them.

As they went up the stairs, the three of them kept their steps light, and even the sensor lights above their heads were not activated.

Zhou Yi and Chen Yan came to the fifth floor. After confirming the door, they looked at each other and nodded.

Ding Chunmei stood at the corner of the stairs on the fourth floor and pointed the camera at the two of them.

"Knock knock knock." Chen Yan knocked on the door.

After several minutes, a woman's voice came from the room and cursed: "Who the hell is this, in the middle of the night?"

The moment the door opened, Zhou Yi pulled it outwards suddenly to prevent it from closing suddenly.

Chen Yan quickly and decisively controlled the woman who opened the door. The woman was dressed quite lightly, and looked all white in Ding Chunmei's camera.

She was about to struggle and scream when Chen Yan covered her mouth.

Zhou Yi rushed into the house like lightning and went straight to the lighted room.

In the room, on the bed, a naked man was lying on the bed with his lower body covered with a quilt.

The man noticed the noise and just opened his eyes to see the black muzzle of a gun pointed at him. The man held up silver handcuffs and said, "Sun Kun, you are suspected of committing a crime. You are now being detained and summoned according to the law."
