Kill the evil dragon

Kill the evil dragon

The disciples of the Shanchi Sect were naturally aware of the Xuantian Sect's reputation. They quickly suppressed their astonishment and solemnly cupped their hands, saying, "Please come with me, fellow Daoist. The sect leader is currently cultivating, so I will take you to the elders."

Upon hearing this, Ruan Qingyu frowned slightly. However, she still jumped off Yun Yin's back and followed the gatekeeper into the Shanchi Sect.

Seeing Ruan Qingyu get off his back, Yun Yin opened his mouth, bit her hem unhappily, and followed behind, swishing his tail hard, which swept up the dust on the ground of the Mountain Pool Sect.

The Mountain Pool Sect wasn't large; the two men and the leopard arrived at the elder's courtyard in a quarter of an hour. The gatekeeper disciple cleverly knocked on the door and said, "Elder Yang, the disciples from the upper sect have accepted the mission to kill the dragon, and they've arrived."

No sooner had he finished speaking than the courtyard gate was flung open with a bang! A gray-robed cultivator, with a thick, black beard, appeared, seemingly in his prime.

"We are so sorry to have failed to welcome our distinguished guest. Please wait here, fellow Daoist, while I contact the sect leader." Elder Yang's eyes flashed with surprise when he first saw Ruan Qingyu, but then only deep envy remained.

The Xuantian Sect truly lives up to its reputation as a major sect; these disciples on the mission are not only highly talented, but have already reached the Foundation Establishment stage at a young age. Looking at the exceptionally powerful black leopard behind her, Elder Yang felt that the vicious dragon that had devoured several of their Shanchi Sect disciples could finally be subdued.

She thought that meeting Elder Yang would give her the latest news on the evil dragon, but little did she know that she would also have to meet the sect leader of the Mountain Pool Sect. Even though the Xuan Tian Sect was powerful, she was currently just a disciple who had been assigned a task, yet she still had to meet their junior sect leader.

Thinking of this, Ruan Qingyu frowned. Her depressed mood was quickly noticed by Yun Yin beside her, who couldn't help but stretch out his tail and wrap it around her ankle.

The furry, slightly prickly touch quickly brought Ruan Qingyu back to her senses. Glancing discreetly at the black panther beside her, Ruan Qingyu simply waved her hand and leaned back against Yun Yin, sitting down again.

The gatekeeper, who had stayed behind out of curiosity, widened his eyes upon seeing this. He swore he had never seen a cultivator act like this before, but considering the cultivation level of this disciple from a major sect, he felt that this was the proper way for a senior to behave.

Elder Yang, however, seemed oblivious to everything, continuing to communicate with the talisman in his hand, sometimes frowning, sometimes relaxing, and finally adopting a knowing expression.

A quarter of an hour later, Elder Yang cleared his throat and bowed to Ruan Qingyu with a gentle smile, saying, "Fellow Daoist Ruan has come from afar, and our sect leader should have received you personally. However, our sect leader is currently at a crucial stage of cultivation and is unable to come out."

After a pause, seeing that Ruan Qingyu's expression remained unchanged, Elder Yang's expression became even more amiable as he said, "Although it has taken up some time, our sect leader has noted down the location of that evil dragon. We will now hand it over to Fellow Daoist Ruan. Please be careful, Fellow Daoist Ruan."

After speaking, Elder Yang suddenly produced a palm-sized map in his right palm. Seeing that the map was indeed accurate, Ruan Qingyu quickly took it.

"Thank you Elder Yang, and thank you Sect Master Shanchi." Ruan Qingyu bowed slightly, then let Yun Yin lead her away.

In fact, Yunyin had been impatiently sharpening his claws on the ground for a while, finding the gatekeeper who kept peeking over annoying, and the clueless Elder Yang even more annoying.

After leaving the Shanchi Sect, Yun Yin slowed down his pace. He let Ruan Qingyu sit on his back and carefully examine the map of Shanchi that day. The location marked in particular was where the evil dragon was.

"Yunyin, this map marks the locations where the seven evil dragons often appear. Let's go and take a look one by one." Ruan Qingyu patted Yunyin on the back while looking at the map.

“Why search for them one by one? If this evil dragon goes up, it will transform into a dragon. You can lure it out by summoning your true form.” Yun Yin paused, then continued walking towards the summit of Tianshan Pool.

They still needed to get their hands on the Lingzhi from that mountain. Rather than wasting time at the foot of the mountain, they might as well go up and take care of it all at once. Yunyin echoed these thoughts.

Upon hearing this, Ruan Qingyu raised an eyebrow slightly: "I'll transform into my true form?" Her tone was quite like that of someone sharpening a knife and preparing to attack Yun Yin.

Although he didn't know why the person on his body suddenly became upset, Yunyin still nodded: "The phoenix and the dragon have been at odds since ancient times. You only need to transform for a moment. I won't peek."

No sooner had he finished speaking than Yun Yin felt another solid slap land on his head. Annoyed, he quickened his pace, forgetting that his back remained steady no matter how fast he moved.

“So what if I change my true form? How does that involve you peeping? It’s not like I’m ashamed to be seen by others,” Ruan Qingyu said through gritted teeth.

This time, Yunyin realized his mistake and didn't say a word. He quickened his pace and ran towards the top of Tianshan Pool.

Half an hour later, the surrounding lush green forests gradually transformed into a snow-covered landscape. Further ahead, however, a scene of rising water vapor appeared, constantly turning from water vapor into frost and then back into water vapor.

“There is no trace of the evil dragon around this Tianshan Pool.” Yunyin sniffed and scanned the surroundings with his divine sense, and did see a few Tianshan Lingzhi mushrooms.

The wariness on Ruan Qingyu's face did not dissipate. She lightly leaped off Yun Yin's back. After searching the surroundings with her divine sense and finding no other living creatures, Ruan Qingyu couldn't help but take a deep breath.

Immediately, he formed hand seals, and his entire body was enveloped in a fiery red light. When the light dissipated, what appeared in the spot was a small red phoenix, about the size of a palm, except that its tail feathers were much longer than they had been several months ago.

Yun Yin pounced on Ruan Qingyu the moment she transformed into a little phoenix. At this moment, all he could see was the little phoenix with its red and orange feathers.

Its tail swung rapidly, and its hot breath sprayed onto the little phoenix, causing its feathers to flutter slightly.

Ruan Qingyu quickly adapted to her body and flapped her wings to fly onto Yun Yin's head. Instantly, Yun Yin's pupils, which had been dilated with excitement, contracted.

Ruan Qingyu opened her mouth and made a "chirp chirp" sound, then immediately closed it again. She paced awkwardly back and forth on Yun Yin's head, then thought to herself, "Is it enough to just transform into the phoenix's true form?"

Yunyin quickly replied, "Try releasing the Phoenix Divine Fire. Besides, I can understand your bird language."

With a nervous flap of its wings, Ruan Qingyu flew straight to another open space in Tianshan Pool. After carefully preparing herself, she slowly opened her mouth and spewed a ball of phoenix divine fire into the sky.

The crimson fireballs shifted and changed in the air, yet never disappeared. The snow that had been falling on the summit of Tianshan Lake suddenly stopped, and the air became deathly still.

Only the ball of fire above Ruan Qingyu's head continued to burn until the hot spring in Tianshanchi began to boil violently, like boiling water.

In the blink of an eye, Yun Yin leaped to Ruan Qingyu's side: "It's ready. I could smell the stench of that evil dragon just now."

In an instant, Ruan Qingyu's little phoenix transformed back into a human, but the phoenix divine fire still floated in mid-air, and most of the surrounding ice and snow melted away.

As the hot spring water reached its boiling point, a brown, ferocious dragon with only three claws suddenly burst forth. With a roar that sounded like both a dragon and a snake, it lunged towards Ruan Qingyu's location.

Those claws gleamed with silver light, sharper than any blade. If you were caught by those claws, your flesh and skin would likely be torn off along with them.

However, Ruan Qingyu did not intend to sit idly by and wait for death. She and Yun Yin, along with the leopard, separated on either side. Ruan Qingyu raised her right hand and then quickly fell.

The Phoenix Divine Fire, which had been floating statically, seemed to receive an instruction and suddenly charged towards the evil dragon that had missed its attack and was about to bite her to death.

The evil dragon spun twice in the air, its head and tail at different angles. Although its head dodged the attack, its tail was struck by the Phoenix Divine Fire and melted almost completely.

"Awooo—" The evil dragon's roar echoed through the heavens and earth, its hatred for the person who caused it to appear in its current state growing ever stronger. It had originally emerged because of the phoenix's aura, and now not only was it no longer visible, but the lingering aura still clung to Ruan Qingyu.

In an instant, the evil dragon's originally black pupils turned blood red, and as it opened its mouth to exhale, a ball of black flames shot out.

Just as it was about to strike near Ruan Qingyu, it suddenly split into dozens of small fireballs. It was determined to completely surround Ruan Qingyu, leaving her nowhere to hide.

Immediately, Ruan Qingyu did not dodge. She stood straight in place, and fiery red ripples spread around her, instantly transforming into a pair of phoenix wings that enveloped her.

No matter how corrosive the evil dragon's black breath was, it was completely annihilated by the Phoenix Divine Fire before it could even touch Ruan Qingyu's body.

This evil dragon was able to devour many disciples of the Mountain Pool Sect, demonstrating its considerable intelligence. Seeing that its attacks were ineffective against Ruan Qingyu, the evil dragon passed directly through its own breath and pounced on Ruan Qingyu once more.

Before the enormous dragon's head even touched its opponent, it extended its claws. These claws had four sharp, slender claws that gleamed with a chilling light.

Having just dodged a burst of breath, Ruan Qingyu immediately rolled away, avoiding the claw. Seeing the evil dragon's head already close to her, Ruan Qingyu couldn't help but look up at the sky.

The fire spirit energy within his body continued to spread until finally, a pair of phoenix fire wings sprouted, carrying Ruan Qingyu as they flew into the sky.

Instead of escaping the area of Tianshan Pool, it flipped several times and landed on the evil dragon. The evil dragon thrashed even more violently, but it was unable to reach its claws onto itself.

With a roar from the evil dragon, it simply carried Ruan Qingyu into the sky, constantly maneuvering in the air, trying to throw Ruan Qingyu off.

Ruan Qingyu began to fly towards the top of the evil dragon's head, while the evil dragon, unable to shake her off after several attempts, began to breathe on its own body.

The highly corrosive breath landed on the scales, yet left no trace. In the blink of an eye, the area was as if it had been raining.

Countless drops of black mist formed water droplets and fell to the ground. Yunyin, who had been waiting for Ruan Qingyu on the ground, instantly noticed the poisonous rain in this area.

If left unchecked, this poisonous rain will inevitably fall onto the ground and into the hot springs. Then the Ganoderma lucidum growing in this area will become unusable, certainly withering or losing much of its medicinal efficacy.

The Cloud-Hidden Beast's pupils widened slightly, and it raised its head to spray a purple sphere formed of lightning towards the poisonous rain, which collided with the poisonous rain in mid-air.

Suddenly it transformed into a dark purple cloud, which gradually dissipated without a single drop falling.

After doing all this, Yunyin curled his tail up again and placed it under his feet, looking up at the man and the dragon high in the sky.
