Chapter 100 Changing the Crystal Core

“You’re not that much older than us,” Jiang Chao retorted weakly, “How can you call us kids?”

Banxia remained silent. Was this the key point?

Why not send the children to an official base?

Li Lin sighed deeply: "The road is too far, and the child is too young. We have no means of transportation, and we'll probably be devoured by zombies before we even get there."

They also considered sending the children to small, privately-run bases nearby, but these bases either required them to work in exchange for food or to engage in shady activities.

How could they bear to do this to several children, the oldest being six and the youngest two?

So the three of them decided to wait for official rescue, but the rescue was delayed and delayed, and they have been raising the children to this day.

Banxia was silent for a moment, then asked, "We're going to the official base. Do you want to come along?"

She wasn't as kind as the three teenagers, but she could still give them a ride along the way.

"Yes, yes, yes!!!"

Jiang Chao and his two companions were overjoyed. They had wanted to ask the two men for a ride while they were in the car, but they were too shy to ask.

"Is half an hour enough to pack your things?"

Enough, enough, enough!!!

Banxia gave them half an hour, but the group seemed afraid that they would drive away early, so they packed their belongings and got into the car with the children in just ten minutes.

The three boys spent some time with them and knew that the two were not mean people. They smiled shyly and sat down in their seats, while the five children timidly squeezed into their seats, not daring to move.

Looking at the children's pitifully thin arms and legs, Banxia hesitated for a moment, then took out a few packets of cranberry cookies, each about the size of a child's palm, and handed them over: "We'll probably be at the base in about an hour, have a cookie to tide you over."

The five children's stomachs immediately rumbled, their eyes were fixed on her hand, and they unconsciously licked their lips, but none of them dared to move.

Jiang Chao, who was standing nearby, quickly stepped in to refuse, saying, "Thank you, we have food."

He rummaged through his luggage and pulled out a packet of instant noodles, crumbled it, and handed it to the children: "Jingjing, Tingting, Xiaoyuan, Xiaohua, Xiaoming, you eat this. And don't lick your hands!"

Banxia knew that Jiang Chao made the children eat instant noodles to save water and fuel, and to avoid the aroma attracting bad people, because she had done the same thing in her previous life when eating in front of strangers.

She forcefully shoved the biscuit into Jiang Chao's hand: "Now that I've given it away, I'm not taking it back."

Jiang Chao stared blankly at the biscuit for a few seconds, his eyes quietly reddening.

An hour later, we arrived at the new base without incident.

Upon hearing the news, Li Kongyuan came out to greet them, but was shocked when he saw the dilapidated RV: "Have you encountered any danger?"

Nanxing gave a brief explanation, then added, "We encountered several survivors."

He asked Jiang Chao and the others to get out of the car and explained their background.

Li Kongyuan hurriedly instructed his men to take Jiang Chao and the others to a nearby tent for a temporary rest, and they would officially register to join the base three hours later.

It wasn't that they were deliberately making things difficult for the survivors, but rather to prevent some people from refusing to report being infected with the zombie virus and bringing danger into the base.

Jiang Chao and the others quickly waved goodbye to Banxia and her companion, saying, "Thank you!"

"You are welcome!"

Nanxing waved to them as well.

“The supplies are on the truck,” Banxia changed the subject. “Some of the packaging is quite damaged, so please be careful when you move them.”

"Alright," Li Kongyuan said with a wry smile, "Will you settle today's payment after we've tallied it up, or will you settle it tomorrow?"

Having things to do tonight, Banxia said without hesitation, "Tomorrow, I'd like to exchange all my rewards for crystal cores, is that alright?"

Li Kongyuan gave her a deep look: "Okay."

He wasn't unaware that the crystal core would be extremely useful in the future, but for now, the medicine was more important.

After the supplies were transferred from the vehicle, Li Kongyuan invited them to have dinner before leaving, but the two declined, citing the safety of walking at night.

After driving the car a few hundred meters from the base, Nanxing turned to Banxia and asked, "Wife, are you planning to go see Pan Wu and Da Hei Niu tonight?"

"Big Black Bull will come to me on his own," Banxia said, her eyes filled with murderous intent. "Let's find a place to park and eat first, then we'll deal with that scum!"

The two stopped in front of an office building where there were no living people. Banxia carried Tiantian and killed all the zombies wandering around nearby. Then they randomly found a room as cover to enter the space.

The Devouring Tree stuffed the crystal core back into the box, ate some ice cream while chatting with Banxia: "I picked up the big black bull's tail when no one was looking, I'll cook it and eat it when I have time."

The black bull has a huge body, so its tail is naturally heavy, weighing more than 300 pounds, enough to feed them for at least a month!

Banxia had never eaten a mutated cow's tail before, so she immediately agreed, and even unconsciously felt a craving: "When I catch a big black cow, I must cut off a piece of beef to eat."

As one man and a tree drooled over how to eat the mutated beef, Nanxing, who had just finished getting his food from next door, interrupted, "Wife, let's eat."

After dinner, the two rested for three hours. Under the cover of night, they put the RV into their space, switched to a lighter off-road vehicle, and headed towards the location where Pan Wu's men had confessed.

Nanxing opened the offline map: "Wife, sleep a little longer. I'll wake you when we get there."

Banxia shook her head: "I'm not sleepy."

The night was dark, but not quiet.

The zombies become extremely active at night, running around the streets making "hohoho" noises.

The noisy SUV was like a walking zombie aggregator, attracting countless zombies to chase after it.

When the two arrived at the food factory occupied by Pan Wu, two or three thousand zombies were following behind their car.

As soon as the car came to a stop, Banxia activated her supernatural ability and put both herself and the car into her spatial dimension.
