Banxia took out a mask and transparent goggles from her spatial storage and handed them to Nanxing. She then took a pair for herself and put them on, which finally managed to stop her cough.
The wind howled, occasionally scattering sand, gravel, and trash against the buildings with a clanging sound. The whole world seemed to have turned orange-yellow, with sand swirling wildly in the air, obscuring even buildings less than fifty meters away.
All the glass was shattered, and a thick layer of sand had accumulated on the floor. Banxia stomped on it and found that it was already four or five centimeters thick.
She pulled Nanxing back into the space: "The sandstorm may last for another two or three days. We'll go home after it's over."
Visibility is too low; driving on the road rashly could easily lead to an accident, so there's no need to take the risk.
“Okay,” Nanxing tidied Banxia’s dusty hair. “Wife, take a shower and go to bed for a while. I’ll find Jinzi and Yinzi to continue practicing their abilities.”
Achoo!
Banxia rubbed her nose, threw the dusty mask into the trash can, washed up again, and lay down in bed.
The sandstorm lasted longer than Banxia had anticipated. Three days passed in the blink of an eye, and the outside world was still filled with yellow sand. Fortunately, they didn't have anything urgent to do.
Banxia read a book on Chinese medicinal herbs for a while, then took her thermos to check on Nanxing and the others as they practiced their superpowers.
After feeding on their own kind, the legs and arms that Banxia had broken in the Level 3 and Level 4 zombies have returned to normal.
When she arrived, Kyoko was fighting a wind-type zombie.
For the poison-type character Anzu, wind-type zombies are practically her natural enemy. Imagine you've just unleashed a poison mist, and the enemy's powerful gust of wind blows it back onto yourself and your teammates—wouldn't you be furious?
Therefore, the fight between Xingzi and the wind-type zombie was full of tension. Xingzi wielded the branch with great power, whipping the wind-type zombie with loud "crackling" sounds. The wind-type zombie was no pushover either; its wind blades sliced all of Xingzi's leaves off, leaving only bare branches.
The more they fought, the more enraged they became. After exhausting their superpowers, they resorted to the most primal hand-to-hand combat, tearing through each other's bark with a claw and whipping each other with a branch until their skin was torn and bleeding.
"Wife," Nanxing said, taking Banxia's hand, "is your stomach still hurting?"
Banxia shook her head: "I don't feel bad anymore. You guys continue, I'm going to wander around."
She found a small electric scooter and went to check on the Sky-Swallowing Tree. Seeing that it was still asleep, she turned and headed to the planting area.
The plants in the nine major areas, including the grain and oil area, the fruit area, and the medicinal herb area, are lush and green, and you can tell at a glance that the yield will be high when it is harvested.
Banxia took a quick stroll around and entered the flower area, where roses, Chinese roses, gardenias, jasmine, osmanthus, hibiscus, plum blossoms, bauhinia... flowers of different blooming seasons were in full bloom, like colorful clouds, and occasionally plump bees were busy collecting nectar among the flowers.
Banxia took the pruning shears, cut a bunch of roses, then went to the aquatic product area and the breeding area for a while before riding her electric bike back to the container house.
The food and meat produced in the space are more than enough for a family of nine to eat and drink to their heart's content, with a considerable surplus. Sometimes, due to laziness, they don't harvest the fruits and vegetables in time, causing them to rot in the ground.
Banxia placed the roses in the vase, secretly resolving to keep a close eye on mutated plants and animals and recruit a few gentle and diligent followers. Their strength wasn't important, as long as they could help manage the space.
The sandstorm lasted for five days. Before leaving the space, Banxia made thorough preparations: a mask, transparent goggles, cooling patches, and high-temperature resistant protective shoes. She even made sure to bring her four furry friends.
Yinzi shook her feet uncomfortably, feeling that she couldn't walk properly after putting on shoes.
Banxia gently stroked its ears and soothed it softly, "Good boy, just bear with it for a while."
Sand has good thermal conductivity, and the outside ground temperature is at least 70 degrees Celsius. Stepping on it rashly might burn your feet.
As soon as they stepped out of the space, Banxia and her companion, along with the four furry creatures, all sneezed simultaneously.
The reason is simple: the air is just too dry! And the earthy smell is just too pungent!
Banxia felt dryness, itching, and pain in her mouth, nose, eyes, and lungs, and couldn't help but cough: "Today is not suitable for fighting zombies. I'll send you back to the space first, and I'll release you when we get home."
They only have simple masks made by Nanxing, so they must be feeling even more uncomfortable.
After sending the four furry creatures back into their space, the two held hands and went downstairs.
Nanxing pulled open the mall door with all his might, and the sand that had accumulated at the entrance poured down. He quickly pulled Banxia back several steps to prevent their legs from being buried in the sand.
The sun was shining brightly today, and the floating dust particles appeared and disappeared in the sunlight, giving the buildings a hazy, dreamlike beauty.
But neither of them was in the mood to appreciate it, because the sand piled up at the entrance was at least a meter high, and even from half a meter away, they could feel the scorching heat emanating from the sand!
Banxia resignedly took out two shovels and a plastic basket from her spatial storage. She filled each basket with sand and poured it into the hall. After digging a path, the two looked like they had emerged from a garbage dump, their faces covered in dust and dirt.
Nanxing and Banxia ruffled each other's dusty hair, drank a bottle of water to replenish their fluids, and changed into new masks before they could barely soothe the dry, itchy cough that kept coming from their throats.
Banxia tentatively placed her hand in the sunlight: "It's even hotter now."
Although the human body has become more adaptable to the environment after evolution, it is not incapable of sensing changes in temperature. Therefore, she was certain that the outside temperature was at least sixty degrees Celsius.
She turned to Nanxing and said, "The sand on the road is probably twenty or thirty centimeters thick. Let's change the off-road vehicle's tires to desert tires."
Without further ado, the two went back to their spatial dimension to change the tire before driving home.
Banxia pulled back the privacy curtain and looked out the window through the bulletproof glass.
Roads, buildings, bus stops, billboards... everywhere you look is yellow sand, and even the zombies wandering around can't escape their fate, turning into little yellow men.
She drew the curtain and turned to remind Nanxing, "Husband, drive slowly."
If the sand is too thick, it is impossible to accurately identify the road surface conditions. There may be hidden steel bars, gravel, iron pieces, potholes, or other things that could cause accidents to vehicles.
“Okay,” Nanxing slowed down, then added, “I wonder how Su Yao and Brother Yuan are doing…”
This sandstorm is large in scale and long in duration, making it hard not to worry.
Banxia comforted them, "The sandstorm came at six o'clock. They should be sleeping in their houses. Besides, everyone has space and enough supplies, so they'll definitely be fine."
"Bang!"
The tire pressure warning light went off. Nanxing gripped the steering wheel firmly with both hands, released the accelerator, and gently applied the brakes, slowly pulling over to the side of the road. "Honey, it looks like the tire's blown out. I'll go check it out. You stay seated."
He unbuckled his seatbelt, opened the car door, and got out.
"Raise your hands and squat down!"
A dozen men and women carrying steel pipes and kitchen knives came out of a nearby house and surrounded Nanxing and the car, their eyes flashing with greed and ferocity.
