The next day.
"Banxia," Nanxing kissed Banxia's forehead, "I'm going to get some tea leaves. I'll be back in an hour at most. I'll put my phone next to your pillow. If anything happens, have Tiantian call me."
The fewer people who know about the supplies, the better, so he rented a 9.6-meter van and drove it himself to transport the goods.
"Um!"
Banxia watched Nanxing's departing figure with longing eyes until the door closed and he could no longer see her before she activated her superpower to repair her body.
After she regained consciousness in her previous life, in addition to poor health, she also suffered from other aftereffects, namely, slow walking and speaking speed.
However, she started using her superpowers to repair her body very early in her life, so she shouldn't have any aftereffects, right?
"Banxia," the Devouring Tree comforted her, "you definitely won't have any aftereffects."
Banxia sighed softly, looking at her thin, bony arms. She was 1.69 meters tall and weighed 56 kilograms that morning.
Generally speaking, a person in a vegetative state will become increasingly fat under careful care. She became increasingly thin because she suffered multiple organ failures while in a coma, and at her worst, she was just one step away from death.
Although Nanxing had covered all the mirrors in the house with something, she had still seen her blurry reflection in the glass shop windows and car windows on the roadside. To say she was ugly was an understatement; she was probably more like a walking mummy.
I really don't know how Nanxing could kiss such an ugly face!
"Banxia," the first thing Nanxing did when he came back from outside was to take off his dirty coat, the second thing was to wash his hands and disinfect them, and the third thing was to kiss Banxia's face.
He looked at Banxia, who had a strange expression, with some confusion. "Why are you looking at me like that? Is there something dirty on my face?"
Banxia shook her head innocently. She couldn't very well say that she was looking at him and wondering if his eyes were broken, could she?
She reached out and grasped Nanxing's right hand, slowly calling his name: "Nan—Xing—"
After seven months of not speaking, her voice was hoarse and her words were somewhat unclear, but Nanxing was still moved to tears.
No one knows how panicked and devastated he was every time he received a critical condition notice from Banxia, but he was Banxia's only support and could not fall down no matter what.
In the end, he simply told himself that as long as Banxia was alive, he would stay by her side.
If Banxia were to pass away one day, he would go with her.
"Nan-xing—", Banxia forced a smile, "It will be—alright—"
Nanxing hugged her tightly and nodded emphatically: "It will be alright! We will get better and better!"
The warmth of a lover's body is like the best medicine in the world, able to soothe all the wounds in each other's hearts.
*
"Each insulated box contains fifty boxes of meals, and there are ten insulated boxes in total. Don't worry, I've counted them myself, there won't be any less!"
The restaurant manager smiled as brightly as the flowers swaying in the wind by the roadside. Five hundred boxed meals were just a small business for their restaurant, but wouldn't the customers say they would come again if they needed anything in the future?
Since they might be repeat customers, being more enthusiastic is definitely the right thing to do!
Nanxing opened the back door of the truck: "Please put it inside, thank you!"
This is the last restaurant. After he finishes collecting the boxed meals from this one, he'll take Banxia to eat there too.
"Banxia," said the seatbelt in the Southern Galaxy, "aren't you tired from packing things?"
Banxia had secretly stored the tea leaves she had brought back and the boxed lunch she had just picked up from the restaurant into her spatial storage.
She shook her head; packing things was as easy for her as breathing, requiring little effort.
"Pinellia," the Devouring Tree in the space stared longingly at the insulated box in the Black Fish's space, "Can I eat it?"
"Sure, but you can only eat ten servings a day!"
It's not that Banxia is stingy, but if the Devouring Tree is left unchecked, it could devour all the boxed lunches in one sitting!
The Devouring Tree was so happy it almost jumped for joy. It had seen countless people fight over a little food in the apocalypse and knew how precious food was to humans.
We fed it ten servings of Pinellia every day, which far exceeded its expectations!
Its obedient appearance made Banxia feel slightly guilty, but she didn't say anything to let the Devouring Tree eat without worry.
After the apocalypse, the land and water sources were polluted, and coupled with extreme weather, ordinary plants had no way to survive.
Although the mutated plants are unaffected and their fruits even grow several times larger, their ripening period is correspondingly longer, and the fruits are highly poisonous before they ripen!
Most importantly, the mutated plants can attack humans!
If she fosters a wasteful habit in the Devouring Tree now, she and Nanxing will suffer the consequences.
Lunch was Cantonese cuisine; apparently, this restaurant makes excellent soups. Banxia can only eat soups and porridges right now, which suits her perfectly.
"Mom, look at her, she's so big and still needs to be fed! Shame on her!"
The child at the next table pointed at Banxia being fed by Nanxing, looking quite pleased with himself.
People nearby all looked over when they heard this, but after seeing Banxia wrapped up tightly and the wheelchair behind her, they understood and turned their gazes back. It was no wonder that she was sick and needed to be fed.
The child's mother apologized to Nanxing and Banxia with a face full of embarrassment, "I'm so sorry." She covered the child's mouth as she spoke.
Nanxing paused for a moment: "Hmm."
He didn't say it was okay; he had already learned the lesson that words can kill.
No one expected the child to suddenly break free from his mother's hand and run towards Banxia, shouting repeatedly as he ran: "Shame on you!"
Banxia stared coldly at the child, who then noticed her abnormally thin face and the gray hair under her cloak. The child was terrified and plopped down on the ground, crying out, "Wow! A monster! Mommy, there's a monster!"
