Banxia's voice was like a thunderclap, and Nanxing and the others realized where their unease came from. They hurriedly picked up the guns on the ground and headed towards the west side of the villa.
Li Kongyuan, who was talking to his subordinates, called out to Nanxing: "Where are you all going?"
Nanxing briefly explained the situation, and Li Kongyuan slapped his forehead: "I'm going too!"
He thought all the mutated rats had died!
It was more than ten minutes later when Banxia and the others arrived at the west section of the villa. The scene before them sent a chill down their spines.
Hundreds of rats, each the size of a calf, seemed to have lost their minds, attacking and tearing at each other in a frenzy. The ground was covered with blood, fur, and bits of flesh, and not a single intact rat carcass could be found.
A strong stench of blood filled the air, assaulting the lungs.
Nanxing couldn't help but glance at Banxia. Wasn't his wife's Ink Vine a little too ferocious?
Banxia was shocked. Was the hallucinogenic effect of the Ink Vine Flower really that good on mutated animals?!
Fortunately, the gas mask concealed the shock on her face well; otherwise, Li Kongyuan, being a shrewd man, might have noticed something amiss on her face.
She raised her gun and fired at the living mutant rats. The mutant rats were instantly hit by several bullets, but they seemed to feel no pain and could not see the living people. They opened their two shiny and sharp front teeth and frantically devoured the flesh and blood of their own kind.
The bitten rat was no pushover either; it twisted its neck and bit back at the rat that was pinning it down.
Two rats were devouring each other's flesh right in front of everyone.
"Yue—" Su Xiao gagged, "Have these rats gone mad?"
As she spoke, her hands didn't stop; her fingers rapidly pulled the trigger, and several mutated rats fell to the ground with a thud.
The condition of the mutated rats drew Li Kongyuan's attention. He looked at the soldier beside him with an extremely serious expression: "Jiang Xiaoqiang, find a few brothers to capture a couple alive. I need them very much! Be careful!"
"yes!"
Banxia looked at Li Kongyuan: "Director Li, what are you doing catching live rats?"
“I suspect that the mutated rats ate some kind of food containing hallucinogenic ingredients,” Li Kongyuan explained. “If we can find out exactly what it is, it might come in very handy when facing rat infestations in the future.”

Because the military had taken over the disposal of the mutated rat carcasses, Su Yao and his group, who had originally planned to go home to rest, were no longer in a hurry to leave after hearing this.
The search party returned quickly: "Report: There are no survivors inside the villa."

The first thing Banxia did upon returning home was to take off her protective suit, gloves, and gas mask, and then disinfect herself with alcohol before bringing Nanxing and the two furry trees into the space.
When Gold and Silver were killing the mutated rats, they were always at the forefront, so the two furry creatures were covered in blood and dirt.
Banxia patted the two big heads and took out an inflatable pool to give the two furry creatures a bath.
Jinzi loves playing in the water. It gets excited as soon as it enters the pool. If the pool weren't too small, it might have given a dog swimming demonstration right there and then.
Nanxing grabbed Jinzi by the back of the neck: "Don't you get tired?"
Jinzi's wet, dark eyes narrowed into slits, her ears were pulled back flat, and her big head nuzzled up to Nanxing, acting coquettishly.
Yinzi was much quieter, squatting motionless in the pool, letting Banxia scrub her up and down. She lifted her legs when told to lift them and stood still when told to stand still, a far cry from the kittens in some pet videos who are treated like pigs being slaughtered during bath time.
It took more than an hour to wash the two furry creatures. With the time to meet Li Kongyuan approaching, the two quickly took a shower and left the space.
Banxia thought for a moment and released Tuanzi as well. She might have to deal with Li Kongyuan again in the future, so she let it go through the formalities first.
As soon as Tuanzi came out of the space, it hugged Nanxing's leg and whined sweetly. Nanxing bent down and rubbed its big head: "Tuanzi, how about you play with Jinzi and Yinzi for a while? I have something to do, I'll play with you later."
