The ferryman was a skilled ferryman, so there was no need to fight for the crossing. However, the laughter and playful chatter of my brothers and I startled a flock of gulls and egrets. That scene was just like Li Qingzhao's poem "Like a Dream." I often remember the scene of the pavilion by the stream at dusk, and for a moment I felt quite happy.
Emperor Kangxi was fond of talented women. Whether Anning was truly learned is debatable, but her words certainly evoked a vivid image.
"Are you homesick? Should I send your mother to the palace to see you?"
An Ning smiled and shook her head: "I have only been in the palace for a few days. With Your Majesty by my side, I am not homesick for the time being. It is just that I am thinking of my childhood.
