Cheng Huan threw a tantrum in Ji Huan's courtyard, but Ji Huan refused to go out. Granny Yu dragged her away. Liu Shi was, in principle, her guardian, so her whereabouts were also on the map.
Seeing that Lady Liu was almost there, Ji Huan pretended to have had enough and went out. She was dressed in an ivory-white cheongsam, with her hair in two small buns, slightly decorated with jade ornaments, making her look very weak and vulnerable.
"Third sister, you've had enough fun, it's time to go back."
When Cheng Huan saw her standing gracefully at the door, looking at her as if she were a child throwing a tantrum, she immediately exploded: "What kind of look is that?"
Ji Huan looked helpless: "I don't know how to read people. Third sister, you are a girl, how can you shout like that? It's improper. Father won't like it. You should go back now. I won't tell Father what happened today."
Seeing the lecturing expression on her face, Cheng Huan became even angrier and pretended to hit her: "I am Father's favorite daughter, I am, no matter what I do, you bitch, I'm not done with you..."
As soon as Madam Liu entered, she overheard these words, and coincidentally, Aunt Wang also heard them.
Aunt Wang smiled and bowed to Madam Liu at the courtyard gate: "Greetings to the Fujin (Madam)."
Liu: "Why are you here?"
"I heard that something happened to the eldest princess. As you know, my husband told me to take good care of her. I can't disobey him."
Liu snorted coldly, glared at her, and went into the courtyard.
Liu: "Chenghuan, shut up."
Hearing Liu's voice, Cheng Huan turned around with a wronged look on her face: "Mother~ Why are you here? Did this little slut go to tell on me?"
She kept calling her a "little bitch," and Ji Huan's face turned slightly pale. Aunt Wang's eyes held a hint of schadenfreude, and Liu Shi wished she could faint. She had never taught her daughter to swear.
"Who taught you to call me a 'little bitch' like that? The eldest princess is your sister, apologize to the eldest princess."
Cheng Huan's eyes widened in disbelief: "Mother? You want me to apologize to her?"
As she spoke, she pointed at Ji Huan and said, "You want me to apologize to her?"
Seeing that incredulous look, Madam Liu felt a wave of dizziness. She knew her daughter was a bit spoiled, but she always thought she was still young and, being a girl, it was fine to spoil her. But she never expected her to be so naive and to publicly insult her elder sister.
Ji Huan shed two lines of tears at the opportune moment: "Mother, I don't know what I did to offend my third sister, that she would insult me like this. We are sisters, how could it come to this!"
Just as Liu was about to explain, Cheng Huan spoke up first: "You shameless woman, you still say that if it weren't for you, Father wouldn't have scolded me. You must have been talking badly about me."
Ji Huan stared wide-eyed: "Mother, I am truly innocent. I did not speak ill of my third sister. If you don't believe me, you can call Father over. I am willing to confront him."
Madam Liu knew that Cheng Huan had been scolded, but she didn't think it was a big deal. She also knew that Ji Huan wouldn't complain behind her back. She just didn't expect that such a small matter would make her daughter care so much.
A small incident made Madam Liu realize for the first time how dull and stupid her daughter was. She couldn't say that her methods were clever, but her acting skills were never bad. Now she disliked Ji Huan, but after learning that Mu Ling had begun to take a liking to and cultivate Ji Huan, Madam Liu became obedient. At least, on the surface, she would not do anything to Ji Huan.
But I never expected my daughter to be so impatient. If it were something important, it would be fine, but it was just a trivial matter that she made up out of nothing.
Madam Liu: "Shut up, Granny, gag the Third Princess and take her back."
After saying that, she looked at Ji Huan and said, "What happened today was wrong, Third Sister. Your mother will send some more gifts to apologize later. It was just a joke between sisters. How about we let this matter pass?"
Ji Huan glanced at Aunt Wang and nodded timidly, "Mother is right."
She's a good daughter and won't complain if she pays money to keep quiet, but Aunt Wang is much harder to bribe.
Aunt Wang then spoke up: "You make it sound so easy, Madam. You just think the eldest princess is easy to bully. The third princess, as the younger sister, openly insulted her elder sister. And you just let it go with a sisterly joke? Isn't that too much of a bullying?"
Liu asked coldly, "What does Aunt Wang think?"
"Although the Third Princess is still young, she is not far from the age of being selected for the imperial concubine selection. It is time to start teaching her with strict rules, especially teaching her the importance of respecting elders."
"The Third Princess's upbringing is the responsibility of this Fujin (principal wife), so there's no need to trouble Aunt Wang. Aunt Wang has learned to respect elders and juniors very well, but next time she should learn more about the proper distinction between superiors and inferiors."
Aunt Wang smiled and said, "I will definitely study hard."
Lady Liu then left, but it was foreseeable that the Third Princess would definitely have to learn etiquette in the near future. As for how she would learn etiquette, from whom she would learn it, and what kind of etiquette she would learn, that remains to be seen.
Ji Huan looked at Aunt Wang. As expected, Aunt Wang would definitely get involved in teaching the Third Princess manners.
"Thank you for making this trip, Aunt Wang. With your thoughtfulness, it's no wonder Father values Anzhi more and more."
"Then I must thank the eldest princess for often speaking well of Anzhi to the master."
"It's because Anzhi's younger brother is so promising."
The two women complimented each other for a while before Aunt Wang left.
Mu Ling only has two sons. Even if one is legitimate and the other illegitimate, they shouldn't be so hostile towards each other. Mu Ling's father and mother left behind a decent family fortune, enough for him to raise his two sons. This brings us to Liu Shi's questionable actions.
I don't know what she was thinking, but she actually felt that a son born out of wedlock shouldn't be better than a son born out of wedlock.
An Zhi's talent was no greater than that of Liu's son, An Cai, but because he was older and worked hard, An Zhi seemed to be more promising than An Cai.
