Chapter 89 Fourth Master's Daily Life in His Backyard (14)

After finally returning to the manor, Yinzhen heard that Hongyun was ill, so he went directly to Consort Li's place.

Upon entering, Yinzhen frowned upon seeing the courtyard in disarray and with people in a chaotic state.

"Su Peisheng, go and take care of this."

"yes."

As soon as Yinzhen entered, he heard Consort Li crying loudly. When she saw Yinzhen, she pretended to throw herself into his arms.

Yinzhen frowned even more deeply, looked at the servants in the room, and said sternly, "Can't you see that the concubine is uncomfortable? Hurry up and help her up."

The sound startled Consort Li so much that she stopped moving. The nanny beside her helped her up, and she nestled in the nanny's arms, her loud sobs turning into soft choking sobs, looking utterly pitiful: "My lord, please take a look at Hongyun. He's taken the medicine, but he's not getting better at all."

"Where is the imperial physician?"

The physician from the Chen family stepped forward and said, "Your Highness, the Second Prince has just taken his medicine and needs to be examined again."

Consort Li, her eyes brimming with tears, said, "My lord, I'm terrified! Back then, Hongfen was just like that..."

Yinzhen scolded, "What nonsense are you spouting!"

Yinzhen had already lost Hongyun once, and he was really afraid of losing him again. When he heard Consort Li's almost dejected curses, he felt no pity, but only that she had no sense of propriety in her words.

Consort Li was startled: "I misspoke, Your Highness, please don't be angry. I was just afraid..."

"Waaaaah..."

Hearing her cry so hard, Yinzhen felt a headache coming on.

"Su Peisheng, go and fetch the Su family physician."

Consort Li was stunned and could not say no, so she could only cry.

Physician Chen, however, turned several shades paler.

The physician from the Su family arrived quickly and took Hongyun's pulse.

"How is Hongyun?"

"Your Majesty, the Second Prince is fine. This servant will prescribe a medicine to help him recover."

Yinzhen was not surprised by this outcome: "Go and prescribe the medicine. Su Peisheng, take Physician Chen away. What are you up to by giving the master medicine haphazardly?"

The physician, Chen, looked ashen-faced and glanced at Consort Li. Consort Li was feeling guilty and hoped he would keep his mouth shut and avoid his gaze.

Now Physician Chen understood that he couldn't rely on Consort Li. As for implicating Consort Li, Physician Chen had no intention of saying anything. It was so obvious that Consort Li's scheme hadn't escaped the master's notice.

The master said this because he didn't want the second prince to know in the future that he had such a cruel mother.

Having figured it out, Physician Chen resigned himself to his fate: "This servant's medical skills are inadequate, and I have failed my master's trust. This servant deserves to die."

Yinzhen gave Su Peisheng a look: "Send him to a disaster-stricken area to practice his medical skills. Have someone keep an eye on him and teach him professional ethics."

The underhanded dealings in the backyard were endless for Yinzhen to investigate.

The physician in the Chen family has quite good medical skills; he's a talented individual. It would be a pity to kill him. It's better to send him away; perhaps he can save a few more people, which would be a good deed.

The doctor from the Chen family had prepared himself to die, but he never expected to survive. Although the disaster area was unbearable, at least he was still alive.

"This servant thanks Your Majesty for your kindness."

"Go."

No one could react to this turn of events. Yinzhen looked at Consort Li and said, "Hongyun is not in good health. As his mother, you must take good care of him. The imperial physician is not attentive enough, so you must be attentive. If he is not taken care of properly, there are people in the manor who can take good care of him. If it happens again, Hongshi will be given to Consort Song to raise."

Consort Li exclaimed in surprise, "How can that be?"

"Why not? You have failed to take good care of Hongyun. You are confined to your quarters for six months as punishment. You are also not allowed to attend the palace banquet. The prince will have his wife help you claim illness. You should take care of yourself."

After saying that, he looked at Hongyun's wet nurses and said, "If you fail to serve the prince properly, you will be fined half a month's salary. If there is a next time, you will be sent back to the Imperial Household Department. If you dare to have any tricks up your sleeve and harm Hongyun, I will find out every single one of your nine clans. I don't have the right to kill your nine clans, but I can make sure that your nine clans never have peace and that you lose your chance to advance."

Yinzhen dared not underestimate the wet nurses and palace maids from the Imperial Household Department now. Those who came from the bondservant families were very bold. He warned them of the consequences for their entire families and made them understand the importance of their actions.

The people in the room were hearing such a direct warning for the first time, and for a moment they didn't know what to say, but fear was certain.

Consort Li now fully realized the foolish thing she had done. Yinzhen's attitude made her understand how much he valued having offspring, and she immediately regretted her actions.

Yinzhen dismissed Consort Li and spent the night with Hongyun.

The next day, after the physician at the Su residence said he had recovered, he left.

In the main courtyard, Chamei told the Fujin about it.

Ulanara's face showed undisguised disgust: "Li Shi, she looks shrewd, but she's actually a fool. She still doesn't understand how she fell out of favor. No one can save her this time."

"Consort Li is indeed not very clever, and now that she has fallen out of favor, it is something she deserves."

Ulanara said, "Yes, she should pay the price for what she did. Consort Li will be confined to her quarters for six months. Since she likes to make the child sick, she should taste what it's like to be sick and weak herself."

Yinzhen's methods made Ulanara clearly feel his emphasis on the child.

She wouldn't, and wouldn't dare, lay a hand on the child, but with Consort Li, she had no such concerns; to a certain extent, Yinzhen would allow it.

What Consort Li did really infuriated Yinzhen. He had warned her about this before, but she seemed not to have understood his warning.

Last night, Yinzhen didn't come to Shaoguang Courtyard; he went to Consort Li's place instead. Today, news came that Consort Li had been punished, and Le Shu guessed that Consort Li had probably done something foolish.

“Granny Su, Consort Li used to be like this too…”
