Upon hearing this, Lü Tu was overjoyed: "What kind of rebellion are you two plotting?"
“We both participated in the Red Turban Rebellion, and when it fell apart, we left.”
Upon hearing this, Lü Tu became excited. The Red Turban Army! Wasn't Xiang Ze one of the leaders of the Red Turban Army before?
Lu Tu immediately asked, "How long have you two been in the Red Turban Army?"
Feng Xiao nodded: "It's quite long. My brother and I have been with you since the beginning."
Feng Lie even pulled out two red strips of cloth from his pocket: "We know many of the high-ranking generals in the Red Turban Army, but there are too few who are truly talented. We two brothers are too young to have any influence among them."
Lu Tu nodded: "Then you two go ahead and get busy."
He turned to Liu Hu and said, "Go to the village and call Xiang Ze over."
"Yes, sir!" The Feng brothers were still very excited. After all, they had witnessed Lu Tu's skills and prestige, and had heard about Lu Tu's achievements, which made them even more confident that they could make a name for themselves here.
Before long, Xiang Ze arrived at Lü Tu's side. He had a handkerchief hanging on his shoulder. He wiped his sweat, cupped his hands, and said, "Greetings, sir. May I ask what brings you here?"
"Have you been settling in well in the village these past few days?"
“The village is great. Not only can we have enough to eat, but everyone in the village also takes good care of my father and me. To be honest, even when I was in my hometown, people were never this friendly.” Xiang Ze couldn’t help but smile wryly as he said this.
"I'm not afraid to tell you this, but even though our Xiang family is considered a prominent family in the area, people only show us respect. They don't even show us any affection. With the world in chaos, the villagers are even less friendly towards us. It's nothing like here, where neighbors help each other!"
Lu Tu nodded: "It's the same everywhere. As the saying goes, poverty breeds cunning and wealth breeds conscience. When people are struggling to make ends meet, they rarely show kindness."
"Your Excellency understands people's hearts very well, Xiang Ze admires you! I only understood this principle when I was 25, I really wasted so many years of my life."
Lu Tu wasn't good at comforting people, so he could only change the subject, pointing to the Feng brothers in the distance: "Do you know those two?"
Xiang Ze looked in that direction and suddenly his eyes lit up: "Why are the Feng brothers here too?"
He then cupped his hands to Lu Tu and said, "My lord, you know them too? The Feng brothers are my sworn brothers! Please allow me to go and fetch them!"
Lu Tu nodded. Xiang Ze had never shown such joy on his face before. He quickly ran over and called out, "Feng Xiao, Feng Lie!"
The two men were chopping wood with axes when they heard the call. They paused, then slowly turned around. When they saw Xiang Ze standing in front of them, they dropped their axes.
"Brother Xiang!" Then two people rushed over, and the three of them grabbed each other's arms and excitedly spun around.
Liu Hu, standing nearby, wondered, "Are you really that happy?"
Lu Tu laughed and said, "You are still young and do not understand how joyful it is to meet an old friend in a foreign land, one of the four great joys of life."
"Brother, what are the other three joyous occasions?"
"Like a long-awaited rain after a drought, a wedding night, or passing the imperial examination, if you wish, I can arrange a great celebration for you very soon."
Upon hearing this, Liu Hu was unusually ashamed and waved his hands repeatedly, saying, "No need, no need, brother, you know I can't read many characters, how could I possibly pass the imperial examination?"
Upon hearing this, Lü Tu laughed and scolded, "What's in your blockhead? Tofu? I can't even pass the imperial examinations, how could I arrange one for you? You're dreaming!"
Liu Hong, Liu Yang, and the others standing nearby burst into laughter: "Tiger, your big brother is saying he's going to introduce you to a wife, why don't you hurry up and thank your big brother?"
Liu Yang stepped forward and slapped Liu Hu on the back of the head, saying, "Idiot, hurry up and ask your big brother to make arrangements for you!"
Liu Hu then realized what he meant, scratched his head and said, "So that's what you meant, brother. But I'm only 15 years old. It's too early for me to get married."
Lu Tu sighed leisurely: "Liu Yang is only a little over a year older than you. He's so eager to get married that he's practically drooling over it. And you don't even have any thoughts about it?"
"I haven't seen one I like," Liu Hu muttered.
Lu Tu laughed and said, "That's easy. Go among the refugees and see. There are so many unmarried girls. Just ask whichever one you like if she's willing!"
"Huh? Big brother, can I not go? That's not very proper; men and women shouldn't touch each other."
Liu Yang delivered a flying kick to Liu Hu's buttocks, angrily cursing, "How could our Liu family produce such a conservative bastard like you? You're even afraid of women?"
Liu Hu respected Liu Yang as his elder brother, so he only focused on dodging and begged for mercy repeatedly: "I'll go, I'll go, okay?"
"Get out of here right now! If you don't find a wife today, you'll kneel before your parents' ancestral tablets all night!"
Everyone burst into laughter upon seeing this, but it was all good-natured laughter.
Everyone knows that in this chaotic world, being able to carry on the family line is the goal of every man, and with Lu Tu backing him up now, it is the best opportunity.
After taking a deep breath, Liu Hu mustered up his courage and walked into the group of refugees. However, most of the refugees had their heads hanging down, and Liu Hu could only see their foreheads as he walked.
Seeing this, Liu Yang behind him shouted in exasperation, "Tiger, you coward! Everyone look up at that kid!"
Upon hearing Liu Yang's shout, thousands of people present turned their gazes to Liu Hu in the direction Liu Yang pointed.
At this moment, Liu Hu felt a tingling sensation in his back, as if needles were pricking him. Even though he had participated in many battles before, he had always followed behind Lü Tu or, at the very least, Liu Yang. In any case, someone had set an example for him.
