101 Set Visit

101 Set Visit

Although not having to go to school because of my leg injury is quite pleasant, after a while, that pleasant feeling turns into boredom.

Finally, the weekend arrived. I thought my aunt would come back, but she called to say she wasn't coming back because she was busy with work.

Li Wei immediately sensed that this was unreliable. Work might be busy, and dating might be just as demanding. The two of them were probably already deeply in love, so they wouldn't have time for her, the peacemaker—it was like using someone and then discarding them!

Helpless as she was, there was no other way. She had already read the textbooks several times, completed two workbooks, and worn out the magazines. She really couldn't find anything to do. While her maternal grandmother went to visit her paternal grandmother, Li Wei leaned out of the window and shouted to Luo Xiaosan, who was throwing basketballs with Wu Feng's younger brother Wu Jun in the yard, "Xiaosan, go and call your brother over!"

She needs to find someone to cheer her up.

The mistress glanced at her, engrossed in her game and reluctant to move, muttering, "What are you doing? Wait a bit."

"Hey, this little brat hasn't experienced my tyranny yet, and he dares to disobey me? Back in the day, I punched and kicked your older brother!" Li Wei raised her voice, "If I tell you to go, then go quickly, or I'll tell your second brother that you took his slingshot to shoot birds and broke it; I'll tell your older brother that you slashed his sandbag with a knife; I'll tell your grandma..."

Before she could finish speaking, Luo Xiaosan had already disappeared.

A moment later, Luo Da arrived, followed by the sneaky-looking Luo Xiaosan. When Li Wei saw Luo Da come in, he was covered in sweat, probably from doing that physical labor of punching the sandbag again. Li Wei patted the edge of the kang (a heated brick bed): "Sit down, I want to talk to you about something. How about we go to town later? I want to see my aunt, will you come with me?"

My aunt isn't coming back, so I'll go see her, okay?

Luo Da thought for a moment and said, "Okay. I'll go wash up and come find you later." Then he left.

Li Wei started changing her clothes. She put on a pair of comfortable trousers and a long-sleeved T-shirt, slung a small bag over her shoulder, and slipped on loose cloth shoes. She could barely feel the pain in her foot unless she put weight on it. The old veterinarian had said that this twist was quite severe; it was dislocated. She needed to take good care of it, otherwise she would easily twist it again in the future.

Luo Dadi was quite quick. He finished washing up and changed into sportswear in no time. His hair was still dripping wet.

Li Wei is now almost disabled. Her aunt asked Ding Anping, who came to pick up her sister, to bring her a lightweight wheelchair. It's quite convenient for her to move around in it. It just feels a little strange.

Luo Da moved Li Wei into the wheelchair. He lifted her and the wheelchair as if carrying a washbasin, crossed the threshold, and went out the door. Then he put her down and pushed her away, as easily as carrying a small stool. Li Wei was overjoyed. She praised Luo Da, "You're really strong! Good, good, good. All the effort I put into training you when you were little wasn't for nothing. Back when you wanted to learn kung fu..."

Luo Da: ...

I don't know if she's praising Luo Da or praising herself.

When the two arrived at the Luo family's house, Luo Da informed Li Wei's maternal grandmother. Grandma Cheng naturally had no objections, especially with Luo Da looking after them. She was even more relieved.

Luo Da is a young boy, but he is very sensible. He often helps his grandmother with chores and sometimes helps carry heavy things around the house. He only needs to say a word if he needs anything, which makes Grandma Cheng like him very much.

However, before Luo Da could leave, his mother stopped him and pulled him aside, whispering, "What's going on, son? Are you going to be Li Xiaoming's free labor again? Let me tell you, you'd better watch out, that brat is no pushover..."

Luo Da barely managed to escape before his mother's long-winded criticism session began. He touched the non-existent cold sweat on his forehead and felt that dealing with his mother's nagging was more mentally and physically exhausting than practicing martial arts.

Li Wei sat in her wheelchair at the front door of Lao Luo's house, twirling a willow branch she had casually torn, and smiled like a cat that had just stolen some cream: "How was it? Did your mother give you a good talking-to?"

After saying that, she mimicked Aunt Luo's tone: "Don't pay any attention to that brat. If you were my son, you would listen to your mother. That girl is no good..."

Luo Da: ...

With Luo Da around, Li Wei can simply sit in her wheelchair and pretend to be disabled when getting on and off the bus. She doesn't have to move at all, and it even saves the bus a seat. Luo Da can sit there and hold the wheelchair in case it suddenly stops, causing it to slip out of control and run ahead to get into a fight with the driver or conductor.

Because it was the weekend, Li Wei and her companions boarded the train at the terminal station and were able to find seats. As more and more people boarded along the way, the carriage became crowded.

At some point, Li Wei, who was eating snacks, suddenly noticed some of her classmates in front of her. She nudged Luo Da next to her and said, "Hey, look, isn't that Su Xiuli and Yang Liqiu?"

Luo Da looked up and said, "Yes, it's them."

Li Wei quickly raised her voice to greet them. Su Xiuli was the first to react and pulled Yang Liqiu along. Actually, the two of them had seen Li Wei as soon as they got on the bus, but they were too embarrassed to go over when they saw Luo Jianhua was also there.

Now that Li Wei had taken the initiative to call them, the group came over without hesitation.

There were four people, all girls, who started chatting excitedly. Su Xiuli and Yang Liqiu had both visited Li Wei at her home before, so they felt closer to her. They asked about Li Wei's injured foot and heard from Li Wei that it was nothing serious and would heal after a while.

Seeing that Li Wei was indeed perfectly normal, without any frightening plaster casts or bandages, but rather looking beautiful, comfortable, and at the same time, seeing that her wheelchair was also quite comfortable and that someone was pushing her, the group couldn't help but feel a little envious.

Li Wei found out that a few people went to the bookstore to buy some workbooks because the midterm exams were coming up and they wanted to review properly.

Li Wei had just bought a few books a while ago and shared her insights with everyone. She also recommended a few types of questions that she felt were comprehensive and practical to a few people, and the girls all took notes carefully.

These students are all quite diligent in their studies. Now that a top student in the class has recommended some helpful tips, they are naturally paying close attention. They might be able to improve their grades because of these good practice questions, and they are afraid of missing any important information.

Li Wei chatted with everyone for a while, then felt thirsty. She took out her small water bottle, took a sip, and noticed everyone staring at her. She waved it around and said, "Does anyone want some? Oh, right, there are some snacks here too. Want some? These peanuts are pretty good." She then handed the snacks to the group.

Several people quickly shook their heads; they were just a little envious that this person could be so carefree despite being sick. How could they possibly accept something from someone else?

Seeing that everyone was embarrassed, Li Wei stuffed the bag of honey peanuts into Yang Liqiu's hand: "Try it, it really tastes good. I have more in my bag, don't be shy."

Because of that dance, Yang Liqiu was closer to Li Wei than to the others. Being a straightforward person herself, she knew Li Wei was easygoing and not as unapproachable as everyone thought. So, she didn't stand on ceremony and started eating snacks and chatting with everyone, creating an unprecedentedly harmonious atmosphere.

Li Wei wasn't familiar with the other two girls. However, compared to Su Xiuli, she quite liked Yang Liqiu. Yang Liqiu was a cheerful and kind-hearted girl. Unfortunately, unlike Li Lin, she wasn't very enthusiastic about interpersonal relationships; otherwise, they could have become good friends if they interacted more often.

When they arrived at the station, as usual, Luo Da carried the wheelchair off the train. Li Wei felt like she was Luo Da's child. Her wheelchair was practically a stroller. Ugh!

Yang Liqiu, who had come downstairs, couldn't help but sigh, "Ah, your illness doesn't hurt or itch, and you even have people taking care of you. You're really enjoying yourself!"

Li Wei glared at her: "Envious, aren't you! Jealous, aren't you? You didn't see how much pain I was in when I first went to the clinic for treatment, I almost died right there! If I had a knife with me at the time, I would have almost killed myself. It was an inhuman experience! You're just talking without understanding the pain."

Yang Liqiu laughed and said, "Isn't this the end of your hardship? You don't have to go to school every day, just eat and sleep. Isn't that great? I think you've even gained some weight."

Li Wei deliberately looked Yang Liqiu up and down: "Are you sure you're talking about me, and not a pig?"

Everyone laughed.

Luo Da pushed Li Wei to a street corner, where Yang Liqiu and the others parted ways with Li Wei and went to the bookstore.

Li Wei went to the company, both professionally and personally. She should have come and see them.

Upon arriving at Cheng Fei's office on the second floor, Li Wei went in and asked Sun Ying, who was in a small private room separated by the door, "Is my aunt here?"

Sun Ying quickly stood up: "President Cheng has gone out. He said he'll be back around 1 PM."

"Who did you go out with? Ding Anping?"

"Yes."

My aunt's got a boyfriend and neglected her mother! She doesn't have time to visit her grandparents. She even has time to go out with Ding Anping! What kind of behavior is that? It's like prioritizing a romantic relationship over basic human decency!

No, I'll have to have a serious talk with her when she gets back.

Li Wei and Luo Da went up to Li Wei's territory on the third floor. Zhang Tong and Li Na were not there, only the finance manager, Rosa, was there. She asked Luo Da to move her to the sofa, set him free, and took the reports that Rosa brought over to look at.

By noon, having looked at most of the items, I checked the time, rubbed my eyes, and wondered if it was time for lunch. Looking around, I couldn't find Luo Da. I called out, but no one was there.

When Rosa was called over and asked, she pointed to the back window and said, "He's practicing driving with Old Li in the backyard again." In Rosa's opinion, the kid was most interested in Old Li's little truck every time he came here, and Cheng Fei had also instructed Old Li to keep an eye on him. If he wanted to learn, he could drive, but he had to be kept in sight and not allowed to leave the yard.

Li Wei asked Rosa to call Luo Da up, as they needed to go eat. They could play some more later in the afternoon.

Li Wei, Luo Sha, and Luo Da went to the nearest restaurant for lunch. When they returned, Li Wei brought some food for Xiao Sun, telling her not to go to the cafeteria at noon.

Actually, Li Wei really wanted to ask Rosa about her aunt or Zhang Tong's recent situation, but she decided against it. Whether she knew or not, she wouldn't say. After all, given her connections with her maternal grandfather and second maternal grandfather, it was best to avoid involving personal matters in the company. Her relationship with Li Na was different; Li Na's relationship with them was simpler, and she could handle everything herself—jokes, anger, and everything else—which made things easier. Therefore, Li Wei felt comfortable talking to Li Na.

Sometimes, human relationships can be a double-edged sword.
