193 surrounded

193 surrounded

The preliminary round of the 200-meter race for the first-year girls was over, and the final wouldn't start until almost noon. Li Wei had at least won, so she floated back to her class feeling lightheaded and unsteady on her feet. She was greeted with enthusiastic applause and was so dizzy and beautiful that she didn't know whether she was Li Wei or Li Xiaoming.

Lin Xiao, Li Wei's deskmate, took on the role of a devoted caretaker, draping her coat over her shoulders and handing her a glass of glucose water that Li Wei had prepared herself.

Acting like she'd just won the Olympics, Li Wei took a sip of water, finally calming down a bit, and asked Lin Xiao, "When are you going to run the 100 meters?"

Lin Xiao said somewhat dejectedly, "Just now."

Li Wei: "Huh? How come I didn't see it?" Did lightning flash by for a hundred meters?

Lin Xiao lowered her voice: "Didn't I tell you? A hundred meters is too short, so I couldn't get it."

Li Wei patted Lin Xiao and said, "Don't worry about it. You just wanted to get some exposure anyway... By the way, how did the exposure go?"

Lin Xiao finally perked up a bit: "Not bad, I came in second to last in our group. Although I didn't get as much exposure as the last place, that girl crawled like a tortoise. I'm not as thick-skinned or as tough-shelled as her, so I had to make do."

Li Wei burst out laughing: "You're something else. I bet that person is thinking the same thing as you, a kindred spirit. Don't you want to get to know them?"

Lin Xiao: "Bullshit! Don't compare her to me. I'd be too ashamed to do that. Do you even know who she is?"

Li Wei took another sip of water: "Who is it? Is it famous?"

Lin Xiao sighed: "You know Dai Hongyan, right?"

Li Wei shook her head; she could only be certain that it wasn't someone from their class.

Lin Xiao knew that Li Wei didn't usually gossip, so she wasn't surprised. Instead, she patiently explained, "She's from Class 8. She's quite famous in our school. She's incredibly beautiful, but her behavior is disgusting. She dresses so strangely. If the school didn't require uniforms, she'd probably change three times a day to show off. She's really annoying. She loves flirting with boys, and I heard she often goes to the movies with them. A famous woman indeed."

O ( ) O Haha

Li Wei was overjoyed. She never expected that there would be such an oddball at No. 1 High School. She would definitely check it out someday if she had the chance. It was too awesome.

Li Wei didn't rest for long before starting the 400-meter check-in. Perhaps due to the extra glucose water she'd drunk, her energy was fully replenished, and with a boost during the 200-meter race, she came in second. As soon as she stepped off the track, Li Wei started daydreaming. Did this mean that in the finals, maybe she could even snag first place?

She would watch Luo Da and Li Lianhui's races whenever she had free time; those two were both madmen. In Li Wei's class, apart from Gong Jianzheng, who was physically imposing, the other boys were simply not competitive. Even so, when Gong Jianzheng encountered Li Lianhui and Luo Da in competitions, he could at best tie with Li Lianhui.

As for Luo Da, he's a crazy guy. Li Wei guessed that Luo Da must not have tried his best, otherwise he would have left her brother and Gong Jianzheng far behind. It's really unfair to let someone like Luo Da participate in the sports meet.

Li Wei planned to get some glucose water for her younger brother to replenish his energy. She didn't have any stimulants, so she'd give him a pill to see how arrogant Luo Da could be. Just one class away, it was clear that her class wasn't as high-spirited or as loudly cheering as the class next door. This was intolerable!

You have to endure it, whether you like it or not.

Around noon, Li Wei was at the starting line for the 200-meter final. She saw many familiar faces, including Qin Ling and Yang Lei, a girl from Zhou Xiaoyan's class. There were only seven people in total, and she recognized three of them.

Unfortunately, Li Wei was in the innermost first lane, next to Qin Ling, and then Yang Lei.

Li Wei glanced at Qin Ling, who happened to be looking over as well. Qin Ling glared at Li Wei and then turned away, maintaining the usual disharmony.

Li Wei didn't care; it had always been like this, and she was used to it.

The only thing that made Li Wei uncomfortable was that the teacher who fired the starting gun was right next to her. She had been startled by the gunshot last time, so she had to be quick-witted this time and run out as soon as possible.

The thought that everyone had was quite similar: after three runs, someone jumped the gun each time, which caused everyone's initial enthusiasm to be almost completely dampened.

On her fourth attempt, Li Wei finally got a successful start. She was quick-witted this time and darted out first, even though she hadn't been the one to jump the gun the first three times.

The 200-meter stretch is a straight line, from one end of the track to the other.

Li Wei's skill level was slightly above average. There were seven people in total. Normally, she would rank fourth. Even if she swung well, she could only match the third-place finisher. So, seeing that the classmate in front of her was only five or six steps away, she just couldn't catch up. She gritted her teeth, held her breath, and ran with everyone towards the finish line.

Li Wei was right behind Qin Ling, and there were less than twenty meters to go before the finish line. Qin Ling looked at Li Wei in front of her, and then at the classmate in front of Li Wei. She felt that even if she caught up with Li Wei, she wouldn't be able to catch up with the third-place student in front of her, so it was pointless and she decided to give up.

But she wasn't willing to give up so easily. Back then, Li Wei, that coward, didn't dare to talk back to her, but now she's ahead of her, even in academics. She just couldn't swallow this insult. With that in mind, Qin Ling hatched a wicked plan.

Seeing Li Wei getting closer and closer to the finish line, Qin Ling gritted her teeth, used the last bit of strength in her body, and deliberately stumbled, crashing into Li Wei's back...

Li Wei was desperately trying to keep going, and she could see that she was only two or three steps ahead, but she just couldn't catch up. Suddenly, she felt a sharp pain in her back, and a strong force knocked her away. Almost at the same time as the first-place runner, she landed with the red rope of the finish line and fell into the sandpit not far ahead with a thud.

Knowing it was Qin Ling who did it, but considering she got second place at the last minute, Li Wei decided not to pursue her sinister intentions. (laughs)

This time, Li Wei received much more enthusiastic applause when she returned to class. As for Qin Ling, she hadn't controlled her strength and had fallen flat on her face, scraping her nose and chin. She had to go to the school doctor to get some iodine applied. Feeling embarrassed, she went back to another student's dormitory to rest.

Li Wei had just sat down and taken a sip of water, still shaken, when Luo Da came over wearing a sports vest and a white towel around his neck: "How are you? Are you hurt? Does it hurt?"

Li Wei shook her head: "It's nothing. Go about your business. There's a sandpit, so there won't be any problems."

Seeing that Li Wei was indeed alright, Luo Da pressed his hands on the desk, lowered his head, and whispered, "Tomorrow I'll teach you a couple of tough tricks. When you have some free time, find an opportunity to beat her up and see if she dares to scheme against you again!" Actually, Luo Da thought that Li Wei could easily beat up two ordinary girls now.

If it weren't for Li Wei's strict rule that boys shouldn't hit girls, or they'd be just as tasteless as that girl, Luo Da wouldn't care. He'd already slapped Qin Ling twice last time, and sometimes he felt that some girls were even more unreasonable than boys.

Actually, Qin Ling did it quite discreetly; people who weren't familiar with Li Wei and didn't know about their past conflict wouldn't have noticed.

Lunch was supposed to be eaten in the classroom, but Li Wei opened the boxed lunches that the group had bought and looked at them. She had no appetite at all, so she gave them to other classmates and secretly called Luo Da and Li Lianhui to go home to eat during the lunch break.

The afternoon was mostly filled with finals. Li Wei's 400-meter race was scheduled quite early. There were only six runners in the 200-meter race. Qin Ling was absent.

Li Wei is now experiencing what it's like to be an athlete, and it's different from elementary school. Competing with classmates in elementary school felt like bullying children, but now she feels she's quite close to her classmates in all aspects. They can almost compete on the same level.

So the excitement from this morning has lessened considerably, especially after just winning another place. I'm much more at ease about the 400 meters now.

After looking around, and seeing that there were no more troublemakers like Qin Ling, I felt relieved. At least there wouldn't be any more dogs snatching my food for no reason.

Perhaps due to excessive exercise in the morning or eating too much at noon, Li Wei felt her legs were noticeably heavier, and she felt tired after running 200 meters to the turn.

Fortunately, everyone's stamina was probably not as good as in the morning, so the speed was not very fast, and Li Wei was even wandering around in the middle of the group.

After running another twenty or thirty meters, Li Wei suddenly felt a pain in her right calf and couldn't exert any strength. She slowed down, but the pain got worse. Only then did Li Wei realize that she might have a cramp, probably the legendary calf muscle cramp. It seems that being too frightened can easily cause this. But what's wrong with me?

Li Wei was sweating from the pain, and she was also afraid that if she suddenly stopped running, people would laugh at her. During the sports meet, people always publicize the touching stories of someone who falls down, gets up, and continues to persevere to the finish line. If she suddenly stopped running, wouldn't she become a negative example?

She ran a few more meters, but when her cramped calf landed, she lost her balance and fell down.

Seeing that the weather was getting hotter in the afternoon, Li Wei changed into shorts that were just below the knee when she went home at noon. She felt that this would make her run more smoothly. However, she did not expect that every advantage would have a disadvantage. After falling, the sandy ground on the playground immediately scraped her knees. In particular, her right knee, which was already unlucky, landed first and fell harder, causing it to bleed immediately.

It hurt a bit, but nothing as much as the cramp. Li Wei sat up to check herself. She was fine; the cramp seemed to have stopped and was easing. She considered whether she should learn from the brave athletes who had fallen and continued running to the finish line. She figured the broadcast would definitely praise her highly if she did.

As she hesitated there, some boys who were working as staff members ran over from the playground. Five or six of them surrounded Li Wei and said, "How are you, classmate? Do you want to see the school doctor? I'll carry you there."

"I have a handkerchief here, let me treat your knee first..."

"Have some water first..."

Li Wei was momentarily stunned. When did she become a seriously injured person? She had originally planned to stay on the front lines even with minor injuries, but now it seemed like she was about to die.

"Get out of here, everyone! What are you doing here? This isn't a market. With so many people crowding around, can't the air circulate? You'll suffocate even a good person! Move aside!"

You could tell from his voice that Li Lianhui had arrived, but it seemed no one was listening to him.

Li Wei looked up and saw not only her younger brother, but also her younger brother's brother Hua. The already dense crowd became even denser.

Seeing this, Li Wei, who had originally wanted to be brave, had completely given up. She wondered if she should pretend to be unconscious, otherwise she would be laughed at when she returned to class.

Those who don't know the situation might really think she's dead.
