As usual, there was a two-day holiday after the final exams. Li Wei didn't want to go anywhere; she just wanted to sleep for two days. She was exhausted from studying so hard. Although she felt fulfilled after getting good grades, it was indeed a very tiring job.
On the first day, Li Wei slept until late morning, unwilling to get up. Lying in bed, she pondered that she didn't really want to do any academic research or anything like that, and probably wasn't suited for it. She just wanted a stable, easy, and comfortable job. If that was her goal, she probably wouldn't need to work so hard.
Generally speaking, students who rank within the top 100 on the list should have no problem getting into a key university. If you consistently rank among the top students, it's a waste of time, energy, and opportunities for others.
Despite her diligence and hard work, Li Wei suddenly felt that studying so hard every day was really meaningless. Finding such a spiritual sustenance might seem glamorous to outsiders, but was it really meaningful?
You've certainly had a great time experiencing this kind of life, but shouldn't you also start doing some of the things you should be doing? If you keep indulging in this, you might become disconnected from society and fall behind the pace of real life after graduating from high school.
Li Wei tossed and turned in bed, lost in thought. She wanted to lie there a little longer, but she was so hungry that she had to get up and go downstairs to find something to eat.
Now, because of her busy studies, Li Wei doesn't bother with the kitchen and bedroom like she did in elementary and middle school. Besides, the original owner of the house spent a lot of money to hire a famous designer, so it's already quite good. She shouldn't add anything unnecessary.
When Aunt Gao saw Li Wei come downstairs, she took out the breakfast she had saved for her. Li Wei drank a bowl of porridge but had no appetite. She forced herself to eat an egg, then put down her chopsticks and asked Aunt Gao, "Where did Xiaolin and Xiaohui go?"
"They said they went swimming at Luo's house, and it seems a few classmates came too. Xiaolin's classmate, Ding Anni, also came and went to play with Xiaolin. Xiaohui seems to have left with Luo Jianzhong, but they didn't say where they went."
Li Wei thought about it; her mother had even asked her to go swimming at her third uncle's house. Since she had nothing else to do, she figured she might as well take these two days to sort out her thoughts and have some fun; things had been stressful enough lately.
Li Wei went upstairs to change into her swimsuit. She originally planned to just throw on a bathrobe or something and walk over. But then she thought that since she was going to pass by several houses, it wouldn't look right to wander around outside in a bathrobe. So she just grabbed a tennis shirt and put it on. It was just a little above her knees, so she could take it off at the pool and get in the water easily.
She greeted Aunt Gao. Grandpa wasn't home either. Li Wei then spoke to her grandmother, who was tending to the seedlings in the small garden, and to Grandma Luo, who was talking to her grandmother. Then she ran off to Uncle Luo's house.
From afar, they could hear the lively sounds coming from the Luo family's house. As they approached, they saw several people playing water polo in the pool. Several more people were sitting under parasols on the shore. It was a truly leisurely scene.
Li Wei approached and glanced around. She didn't see Luo Da. Luo Er and Li Lianhui were sitting there drinking. Xiao San'er, Li Lin, Ding Anni, and a few other girls were playing in the water and throwing balls.
Li Wei also saw two familiar faces: Cousin Zhong and Song Xuejiao.
Luo Er saw Li Wei approaching from afar and quickly called out, "Come on, Sister Xiaoming. Let's play together for a while."
Li Wei walked to the parasol and took off her tennis shirt. She asked Luo Er, "Where's your brother?"
Luo Er and Li Lianhui exchanged a glance and a sly grin: "Studying hard in their room, hehe, reading!"
ah?
Li Wei stopped taking off her clothes, somewhat disbelieving: "Really? Didn't he just finish his exam? He wasn't this diligent during the exam. Are you kidding me?"
Luo Eryi pouted: "If you don't believe me, go and see for yourself. It's not like it's anything good. Why would I lie to you?"
B sweat, in the Luo family, studying hard is definitely not a good thing. Uncle Luo's view is that men are capable if they can make money, and studying too much will make them stupid.
Therefore, the children of the Luo family, whether they did well in school or not, were never particularly praised or scolded. Li Lin once said enviously, "How wonderful it would be if I were a child of Uncle Luo's family."
His mother, who was passing by, overheard this and slapped him.
Upon hearing such earth-shattering news—a phenomenon comparable to the sun rising in the west—Li Wei hurriedly put her half-undressed clothes back on: "I'll go take a look." Could it be some kind of handwritten copy? Otherwise, why would she be working so hard?
Luo Er watched Li Wei's figure disappear from his front door and nudged Li Lianhui beside him: "Hey, I've noticed lately that your sister is getting more and more voluptuous, and she looks more and more like that Xuejiao from Uncle Song's family..."
Li Lianhui disliked Luo Er's comments about his sister, so he said indifferently, "Really? Did you tell Brother Hua about this big discovery..."
Luo Er hurriedly begged for forgiveness with a grin: "Xiao Hui, I was wrong, I didn't see anything. Please don't accidentally tell my brother that I saw Sister Xiao Ming, otherwise my brother will drag me to the martial arts school to train me, that would be the death of me."
Li Lianhui gave Luo Er a malicious look: "Brother Hua is doing this for your own good. You seem pretty lazy these days, you should be taken out for a walk."
Luo Er dropped his playful grin and began to formally beg for forgiveness: "Xiao Hui, we've been brothers for years, right? Don't feel resentful just because I'm doing well now and don't have to suffer like you guys. If you need any help from your brother, just say the word! I'll go through fire and water for you..."
Li Lianhui, impatient with the conversation, interrupted him: "Alright, alright, enough with the nonsense. Remember, you owe me one, hehe."
Luo Er—
Li Wei entered the Luo family's house, greeted her third aunt who was playing mahjong with several women in a corner of the living room, and then ran upstairs. However, when she reached Luo Da's door, she tiptoed, deciding to conduct a surprise inspection and not give Luo Da any time to react, otherwise it would be bad if he hid the books. Luo Da's door wasn't locked, and Li Wei pulled it open, stunned for a moment. It was truly...unusual. This guy was actually sitting calmly at his desk. He seemed quite professional.
Luo Da turned around and saw Li Wei: "You're here. Wait for me a moment, I'll finish this page soon. Please have a seat."
Are you so engrossed in reading the handwritten copy? Surely you wouldn't be that arrogant?
Li Wei was so curious that she had no interest in sitting down. She leaned over Luo Da's shoulder to look at the desk, and when she saw the writing on it, her jaw almost dropped onto Luo Da's shoulder.
He stammered, "You...you...you're looking at your new textbook!"
Isn't it always her prerogative to look at the new textbooks for next semester in advance? At most, Li Lin would take a look, and then Li Lianhui... As for Luo Da, he rarely does any exercises, so why would he do something that's supposedly only bookworms do?
Luo Da simply closed the book and turned around. He reached out and lifted Li Wei onto his lap, holding her close. Li Wei had completely forgotten that this was the Luo family and was about to struggle.
Luo Da didn't make any physical advances. He rested his chin on Li Wei's neck and, unusually, spoke in a very weathered and serious tone: "Didn't you say the other day that once we get into university, we can do some of the things I want to do? I've been thinking about it these past few days. Actually, just hanging around in school all the time isn't very interesting. It's the same old thing every day, and the time is so tight. I heard from Geng Xinyang that some people are taking the college entrance exam early. There are students in your class who are taking it next year, and I plan to take the exam next year too. So we're all making the most of our time now. Then your mom will be more satisfied with me. You don't have to keep saying I'm not doing anything productive. You'd better keep your word. Otherwise, I won't be polite."
After all that talk, Li Wei only understood one thing: Luo Da also wants to take the college entrance exam early, just like Qin Ling and the others!
But her motives sound a bit impure. She can roughly understand the meaning, but did she ever say anything about getting into university? When did she say that? She doesn't remember.
Li Wei thought about it and realized something was wrong. If she really pushed Luo Da to the limit and he got into university, while she was still in high school, what would happen if he came back and tried to molest a minor? What would everyone do if they just stood by and did nothing?
Thinking of this, Li Wei hurriedly struggled to jump off Luo Dadi's lap: "Hey, when did I say that you can do whatever you want just because you got into university? As for me, I haven't even gotten in yet!"
Luo Da looked at Li Wei in disbelief: "You actually forgot? How could you forget? Do you know how many things I've been thinking about these past few days? And you actually turned your back on me!"
It doesn't seem that serious, does it? Li Wei felt a little guilty. Luo Da didn't seem to lie much, but she really didn't remember saying that. It seemed like he had said it himself before!
Seeing Li Wei standing there timidly and silent, seemingly innocent, Luo Da thought for a moment and said, "Alright, no wonder you're always studying and doing math problems. Turns out your memory isn't very good. I'll simulate a scenario to remind you." He then stood up and reached out to pull Li Wei away. Realizing the situation was inappropriate, Li Wei turned and ran. This was Luo Da's room, and it seemed like nothing good ever came of her coming in…
Before Li Wei could even touch the doorknob, she was caught. Just as she was about to speak, she was lifted up around the waist and, without struggling, the two of them fell onto the large bed not far away. Li Wei panicked as she ran and kicked, and then she remembered.
Depend on!
Actually, it happened the night Luo Da climbed through her window to meet her at her house.
In the dead of night, in their bedroom, the two of them were kissing and somehow ended up on the bed. It was summer, and Li Wei was wearing a thin nightgown. She was almost stripped naked in a daze. Luckily, her mother came to check on them and scared Luo away.
However, Luo Da's scare didn't come for nothing. He stubbornly refused to leave, which terrified Li Wei. Overwhelmed with fear, she made a vague request: "Hurry up and leave! If my mom sees you here so late, she'll kill me. We're only in high school. We can't be together openly and officially until we go to college. Hurry up, hurry up!"
Luo Da jumped up: "You promised, you'd go to university!"
Li Wei hurriedly pushed him: "Nonsense, of course you have to go to university, hurry up..."
Li Wei lay there, vaguely thinking, "Could the difference between her and Luo Da's reasons for going to university be this great?"
She wants a secure job, he wants to sleep with her!
That good-for-nothing...
