258 Chinese New Year
Two days later was Lunar New Year's Eve. The Luo family had already made preparations in advance. Although Zhao Chunyan was not very educated, she was quite thoughtful in managing her household affairs. After all, over the years, she had been busy welcoming and seeing off guests. If she didn't do it well, she would easily be laughed at. This was a matter of great importance to her family's reputation, so she couldn't help but pay attention.
Since it was Chinese New Year, Li Wei and Grandma Luo felt they had enough manpower, so they let the two nannies who took care of the children take turns going home for the New Year and come back on the fifth day of the Lunar New Year.
After all, there's no need for help in the kitchen. There's Wei Jie's child's grandmother and Li Wei herself. Besides, Li Wei will be going back to her parents' house for a day or two on the second day of the Lunar New Year. Having two regular people to take care of her is enough.
Those eager to take care of children will likely have to wait in line, but since most of them are just playing around for a short time, two people are enough to handle the actual tasks.
Li Wei woke up in the morning and stretched in someone's arms. The other person woke up too and asked groggily, "What time is it?"
It's rare to see someone who cares about the time. Li Wei moved the large arm that was across her chest away: "If you haven't slept enough, sleep a little longer. There aren't many people here today. You'll be staying up all night tonight, so I guess you won't be going to bed too early. I'd better get up; it's getting late."
Hearing Li Wei's tone, it seemed that sleeping in late today was fine, as everything that needed to be done was taken care of. The minor tasks like putting up couplets were handled by Xiao Er and Xiao San, so it seemed there was really nothing for him to do. He rolled over and pinned Li Wei down, not even opening his eyes, and said, "Mmm, I'll sleep a little longer. You stay with me." He snuggled closer, finding a comfortable spot in the crook of Li Wei's neck, and then stayed still.
It was like Mount Tai pressing down on her; Li Wei couldn't move an inch. The weight on her body was almost flattening her. She complained, "You're crushing me! Get up! If you keep pressing on me, I'll really flatten!" Damn it, this guy usually knows to support part of his weight, but when he tries to be stubborn, he leaves it all to her. Can her small body handle it?
The man moved slightly. Neither of them were dressed, and with this friction, his manhood quickly swelled up. He muttered, "Give me a fulcrum, and I can move the world."
Li Wei was furious. This damn guy, he clearly had lustful thoughts again, but he still had to find a high-sounding reason. He was becoming more and more hypocritical. He used to be like a bandit who would do whatever he wanted, but now he knew how to use fake excuses. It was so ridiculous that it made people both laugh and cry, and they couldn't bring themselves to be ruthless.
With his eyes closed, someone quickly and skillfully found the 'fulcrum' with his large hands, gently massaging while muttering, "Kiss, kiss, wait, wait, brother is coming."
Although no one was around, Li Wei felt her face burning hot enough to bleed. Unfortunately, her upper body and limbs were pinned down and she couldn't move. She was mortified. And to make matters worse, this guy kept muttering incessantly. In desperation, she spotted a smooth, warm shoulder in front of her. Without thinking, she lifted her head and bit down.
The two of them groaned almost simultaneously.
Li Wei was being pried up by someone. Almost simultaneously, that person felt they had almost reached a point of communication with their beloved fulcrum. They stepped in. The other person was experiencing both pain and pleasure. The two sensations washed over their brains simultaneously, creating an exceptionally stimulating experience.
Li Wei, her mouth full of her shoulder, was breathing rapidly. She felt a little lighter. Someone had already lifted his upper body and begun kissing her, starting from her neck and moving down to her ear. The wet, hot lips and tongue temporarily captured her attention. It was so light and gentle, like butterfly wings fluttering on a flower, like a spring breeze and gentle rain. She quickly forgot everything and danced along with them.
Until Li Wei was completely captivated. Da Luo began to move wildly. The gentle spring breeze turned into a violent storm.
Li Wei felt like she had become a small boat again, drifting in the wind and rain. She quickly reached one wave crest after another, hesitating and trembling before finally tumbling down. The feeling was both thrilling and overflowing with happiness. Her last thought before she drifted off to sleep was, "Hmm. Not bad." She liked this feeling. But the timing seemed off. It was morning!
On the morning of Lunar New Year's Eve, a certain person went downstairs first, picked up the baby girl in the nursery, kissed her twice, and specially told his mother, "Mom, Xiaoming has a bit of a headache, so he might have to get up a little later, hehe."
Zhao Chunyan, being an experienced woman, glared at her son when she saw his beaming face and said, "You're such a grown man, you need to know how to be moderate in everything you do. Can Xiaoming compare to your calf-like physique? Maybe he's caught a cold. If not, ask your grandma for some Banlangen (a traditional Chinese medicine) to make him drink."
Zhao Chunyan was scolding her son when she saw her second son come in, so she quickly changed the subject.
Da Luo readily agreed, saying, "It's alright, I'll just sleep a little longer and rest."
Zhao Chunyan took her eldest grandson out to check on breakfast, leaving the two brothers in the nursery.
At the other end of the room, an aunt and Sister Wei were busy tidying up baby supplies. While they were busy with their hands, they secretly smiled. Da Luo, who was thick-skinned, pretended not to see them and said to his younger brother who was hugging and kissing Luo Er wildly, "Be gentle, be gentle. My son's little face is so tender. He can't stand being handled like this. If you make him cry, I'll kick you."
Luo Er raised his head, still savoring the moment, and said dismissively, "My second nephew is having a blast, hehe. That kid's definitely going to be a womanizer someday. Look how much he's enjoying himself, bro."
The father looked at his son and saw that the boy was indeed quite happy. It turned out that he, as the father, had been worrying for nothing.
Li Wei, with a headache, missed breakfast and ate the family reunion lunch instead. She was so angry that she pinched Da Luo, who came to wake her, quite a bit. Why didn't he wake her earlier? She could at least have gotten up to say hello and then sneak back to sleep. Now, how was she supposed to go out and face anyone?
Knowing he was in the wrong, the man smiled apologetically and said, "It's alright, it's alright. I already told my mom that you have a headache and that you'll feel better after sleeping a little longer."
Li Wei's head was throbbing. There's a saying, what was it again? Right, an explanation is just a cover-up, and a cover-up means it's true. It infuriated her! This guy, usually so shrewd outside, how come he disappears as soon as he gets home? Ugh!
After washing up, she braced herself and went downstairs. Feeling guilty, she secretly glanced at everyone. It seemed that no one was paying special attention to her, and she secretly breathed a sigh of relief. Grandma Luo and Old Luo had already taken their seats in the restaurant.
Li Wei took the baby from Da Luo. Her mother-in-law, holding Luo Yi, and Lao Luo, holding Luo Er, sat down next to Grandma Luo. Li Wei sat down next to Da Luo, not daring to lean against her mother-in-law. The two women were eating with their children in their arms. They didn't want to think about the terrible scene. Being next to Da Luo meant that someone could help them pick up food or something.
Sister Wei and the housekeeper from that family also sat down at the table, but the two of them were clearly not very comfortable. They finished eating quickly, took the children back to the nursery, leaving the Luo family to eat their reunion dinner while chatting.
Generally speaking, the most formal and important meal on New Year's Eve is usually around noon or in the afternoon. In the evening, people usually eat dumplings, which are cooked piping hot and served on the table. The whole family eats and chats together in a lively atmosphere, which is what makes it feel like New Year's.
Before every meal, firecrackers are set off, especially around midnight. Almost every household sets off fireworks and firecrackers, and the air is filled with smoke and the crackling sounds are endless. The naturally colorful and brightly colored fireworks rise and fall one after another.
This year, the Luo family welcomed three new members, so the Luo father and his sons bought a large quantity of fireworks. Since there was no ban on setting them off at the time, the three of them set them off for more than an hour before reluctantly returning home. The women, holding their children, looked out the window.
The next morning, everyone got up late. The three little ones were also excited the night before and went to bed late, so they didn't wake up early either. Sister Wei and another nanny who looked after the children were already preparing dry diapers and warm bottles, just waiting for the little darlings to get up and have breakfast.
Last night, before going to bed, Li Wei was once again fooled by someone's ridiculous excuses about "the year's plan lies in spring," "spring means rain," and "rain means sowing." This person was riding high on springtime and went crazy for half the night before finally falling into a deep sleep this morning.
Li Wei was in an even worse situation. She slept through lunch and realized that this couldn't go on. It was the New Year, and she was worried about how she would ever face anyone. She grabbed her husband's ear and warned him fiercely, "You'll sleep separately tonight. You'll have your own bed, or you can forget about going home!"
The man was very resentful, cursing himself for being so lacking in self-control. Now that his wife was in a hurry, he would have slept through his entire month's quota last night. He decided to take a break and wait until Li Wei lowered her guard before making his move. After all, she was his wife, so it was quite easy to seduce her, hehe.
Nothing much happened on the first day of the Lunar New Year. The younger generation of the Luo and Li families simply exchanged New Year's greetings and red envelopes with each other. Although the three little ones were small, they received quite a few red envelopes. Looking at the pile of red envelopes on the low table in the nursery, Li Wei couldn't stop smiling.
This is where the advantage of having many children comes in. Whoever gives a red envelope gets three portions, all of which end up in one place and are kept by the mother. It's hard not to be happy. As for her and Da Luo's share, she doesn't care how much it is.
Ding Anni, bored at home, came over early to hang out with Li Lin. The Luo and Li families had many children, making it lively, which Ding Anni always envied. It was so nice to have people to play with, unlike her own home, which was incredibly quiet if her brother and sister-in-law hadn't brought Dingding back.
Although there weren't many guests, Zhao Chunyan was busy preparing the dishes for tomorrow with her aunt. The reason was simple: tomorrow was the second day of the Lunar New Year, and not only would Da Luo's two aunts be coming with their families, but her close cousin would also be coming to visit the old lady. This cousin had always been good to their family, so Zhao Chunyan couldn't afford to be careless.
This cousin is a very busy person. She has only come two or three times in total, and this is the first time she has come during the Chinese New Year. Therefore, Zhao Chunyan is very afraid of being laughed at by this cousin who she always looks up to. She is a worldly person.
Unlike her two older sisters, Zhao Chunyan never really paid them any attention, only maintaining a superficial politeness.
She felt a deep-seated awe for her cousin.
Li Wei was also very happy. Tomorrow she would take her child back to her parents' home as usual. Although her husband's family was nice, it was not as comfortable as her parents' home. She could sleep in and be lazy without any worries, and she didn't have to worry about being laughed at.
More importantly, I no longer have to deal with all those kids' great-aunts.
The thought of those nitpicking looks makes me feel uncomfortable.
