268 The Return of the King

268 The Return of the King

Li Wei spent more than half a month in worry. Just when she was about to lose her temper and run to Da Luo T's leader to ask for her, one day while Li Wei was in class, two people came and took her out, accompanied by the principal.

The principal was a little unsure of what to say, but still said, "You must be Li Wei. Here's the thing, these two comrades need to see you about something. Why don't you go with them?"

Li Wei glanced at them, unable to discern anything from their expressionless faces, and felt a little uneasy. Before she could say anything, one of them said, "Someone wants to see you. Come with me."

Li Wei didn't do anything. She didn't commit any crimes or do anything earth-shattering. She just recently made some money. Could it be that the money got her into trouble? No way, she got it legitimately.

While hesitating, another person said anxiously, "You know Luo Jianhua, right? He sent us to find you. Let's go quickly."

He was better off not saying anything at all. Li Wei's legs went weak when she heard that, and she stammered, "What...what happened to him?" Li Wei's mind was in a daze, and she had a very bad feeling. Could something have happened to that guy?

When the three of them saw Li Wei's tears, they were all at a loss. They really didn't expect that such a situation would occur before they could even say anything.

The older one softened his voice to reassure Li Wei: "Don't worry, young lady, he's fine. He's just a little injured, nothing serious. Come with me and let's see him. Let's go, we'll see him in a bit, then you can relax."

How could Li Wei feel at ease? But at least she knew that Da Luo was not in mortal danger. She wanted to leave, but her legs were still weak. Helplessly, she said, "Give me a hand, my legs are weak and I can't walk."

The three of them chuckled at the same time. The older one came over, reached out and lifted Li Wei's arm. No one knew how he used his strength, but Li Wei was actually helped away just like that, without her legs even having to exert any force. It was truly amazing.

She had only seen this kind of magical thing happen to Da Luo, which made her feel somewhat familiar with him.

They got into the car. The younger one drove, the older one sat in the front, and Li Wei sat in the back. No matter how much Li Wei pressed them, the two wouldn't budge. Li Wei was helpless. Although unwilling, she could only wait. Their time would come eventually.

After more than two agonizing hours, Li Wei only knew that they had left the city and entered the mountains. They drove through a large pine forest and finally, at the foot of a mountain, the car entered a manor consisting of several villas. She parked the car outside one of the villas on one side.

Li Wei got out of the car and followed the two into the small building. Her heart was pounding. The guards standing at attention on both sides added to the tense and menacing atmosphere.

The older man led Li Wei up the red-carpeted stairs to the second floor. He knocked on the innermost door. A nurse came out, nodded to the older man, and then left with the tray.

The man gestured for Li Wei to go in, but he himself did not.

Li Wei was on tenterhooks, her heart pounding in her chest. She entered the room and peered inside with wide eyes.

On a fairly large bed lay a person with an IV drip attached. Just seeing the figure brought tears to Li Wei's eyes, and she ran over, crying, "What happened to you? Waaah~~"

Da Luo was seen lying in bed with an IV drip, wearing a hospital gown and looking somewhat pale.

Li Wei had never seen Da Luo like this before, and tears welled up in her eyes. She rushed over and couldn't stop crying.

When Da Luo saw Li Wei come in, he quickly sat up. When he saw that Li Wei was crying, he panicked and hurriedly wiped her tears, saying repeatedly, "Hey, hey, don't cry, don't cry, I'm fine now, isn't this all right? These guys are really something. Didn't I tell you not to come looking for me? Okay, okay, it's alright, it's all over now."

Li Wei cried for a while, and only stopped crying after confirming that Da Luo was indeed alright. She then pressed for details about what had happened.

Da Luo smiled wryly: "I can't say the specifics, there are rules against it. Basically, it's just that a few of us went on a mission, and someone was bound to get hurt. I was injured, but I'm fine now, don't worry. Someone like me, who brings trouble for generations, won't be taken away by God easily. Don't worry, it's okay. Think about you and your four children, I'll be fine too. This whole family is counting on me to bravely venture into the world, hehehe."

Li Wei was furious at his carefree laughter: "Couldn't you just make a phone call? Don't you know your family is worried? You should at least tell them! Do you know how worried I am every day? Is this how you live your life?"

Da Luo had naturally considered making a phone call. In fact, he had returned a month ago, but his injuries were too severe. Even after he recovered a bit, he dared not make a phone call, fearing that if he heard Li Wei's voice, he would be unable to help but say something, or even run straight home. If that happened, Li Wei would probably be terrified to death if she saw him like that.

So I held back and didn't dare contact my family.

However, his injuries this time were not in vain. He almost traded his life for that of a high-ranking leader, and the favor he received was immense. Naturally, someone was taking care of his family. In fact, Da Luo even found out through the other party that Li Wei and his father had made a fortune during a trip.

The other party teased Da Luo: "Little guy, you're so young and you've actually gotten a wife. This wife is quite interesting, haha. She's good at having children and good at making money. She's got good taste, hehe. But it's lucky you met me, otherwise, with one old and one young, it's hard to say what would have happened. Now you can rest assured, once you're fully healed, go back and enjoy yourself. But you still need to study hard, it's an important qualification."

Da Luo was both amused and exasperated by the result. His wife was really going too far; she seemed to be able to find gold wherever she went. It was as if after knowing her for so many years, she had managed to create a gold mine with just a few tinkerings. The previous one was her aunt, who even took care of all the money without him having to lift a finger.

This is even more outrageous. Does she even know how to spend this money? She won't just collect it as a textbook and take it out to look at it from time to time, will she? Besides going to school, she really hasn't done any other work.

How can this person be so lucky!

But now Da Luo isn't worried anymore. With a word from his superior, he figured there was nothing to worry about at home. He just missed home. As his health improved, his longing for his wife and children intensified. Eventually, he couldn't bear it any longer. His injuries were barely noticeable, and he strongly requested to go home. That's why the superior sent someone to bring Li Wei over.

Li Wei pulled aside Da Luo's clothes and carefully examined the wounds on his shoulder and chest. She had no experience and couldn't really tell what was wrong, but she saw faint red marks that seemed to have healed. She couldn't help but ask, "What kind of wound is this?"

Da Luo blurted out, "I was stabbed with a small knife, but it's already healed. It didn't damage any internal organs, so don't worry."

Actually, she was shot twice, but that's something that can't be said. Anyway, the doctors and equipment they used were the most advanced, and they even did cosmetic surgery on the wounds. With Li Wei's limited experience, she naturally wouldn't be able to tell.

Although Li Wei was somewhat skeptical, seeing that Da Luo was indeed lively and energetic, she breathed a sigh of relief. She figured that even if something serious had happened, the guy wouldn't say anything; he had kept quiet about injuries he sustained as a child.

Anyway, it's good that nothing serious happened.

Da Luo was supposed to be discharged soon, but he was delayed for two days because the doctor who was to conduct the final check-up hadn't arrived yet. Now that Li Wei has arrived, he's not in a hurry anymore.

Li Wei stayed with him until evening, worried about her children at home, yet reluctant to leave the university. She was in a dilemma when Da Luo simply called a guard outside: "Could you please tell me that I'll go home today depending on the weather? Notify me when there's an inspection, and I'll come back."

The guard ran out and returned shortly after: "The commander said you're allowed to go home, but you have to be ready for a phone call anytime. Don't go anywhere for the next few days."

Da Luo nodded to indicate that he understood, and asked the guard to call a car. The guard had already given the order when he came in.

Da Luo and Li Wei were picked up and taken home by Li Wei's car.

Just like Li Wei, the first thing this college student did when he got home was to run to the nursery, pick up the babies who were drinking from bottles, and kiss them all over. Each baby cried as soon as he kissed them, but he himself was having a great time.

Li Wei's nose tingled and tears welled up again. She quickly wiped them away. What was wrong with her today? Why couldn't she turn the faucet off after turning it on?

Da Luo had a really good dinner; it felt like he hadn't eaten so well in a long time. Home-cooked meals are the best!

That evening, Li Wei prepared a hot bath for him, giving him a bubble bath while he soaked and massaged him, which he thoroughly enjoyed.

What was rare was that the two of them lay in bed cuddling and talking. It was mainly Li Wei who talked, with someone else adding to the conversation or occasionally saying a few words about themselves. For the first time ever, the two of them fell asleep peacefully while talking, feeling a warm and calm feeling in their hearts. They had no desires and just wanted to comfort each other.

Clearly, this is just a rare miracle, much like Li Wei's windfall.

The next morning, Li Wei vaguely felt something tickling her body and realized that a guy who had disappeared for a long time had finally returned and started his favorite 'morning exercise' again.

After holding it in for almost three months, this person is bursting with enthusiasm. Having escaped death once, they've become more open-minded about some things. Who cares about going to class or being late? A day or two won't make a difference. Let's have a good talk and build some rapport first.

And this feeling isn't something you say, it's something you do.

This guy is a determined doer, very decisive and efficient. He's been drooling over his family's little fat lamb in his dreams, and today he can finally eat it. He's so excited and his blood is boiling.

As a result, he was satisfied and full. Li Wei didn't go to school and slept through lunchtime until dinnertime.

I was too embarrassed to go downstairs for dinner, so someone else took it for me and brought it upstairs. The person urged me, "Eat quickly, eat more, otherwise you won't have the energy. We'll continue later. By the way, how many pages have we finished? I'll check later. You rest for a while so you can fight again, haha."
