276 borrowing money
The homeowner was none other than Da Luo's cousin.
The person who received Da Luo and his group was not his aunt, but his cousin Liu Shuo.
There was an awkward silence between them. Da Luo was alright, since he was just there to look at the house. But his cousin Liu Shuo was a little embarrassed. He led the group to sit down in the living room, but for a moment he didn't know how to start the conversation.
The property manager, seeing that the two knew each other, thought it would be easier to talk things out: "Mr. Liu, this Mr. Luo wants to buy a house, so I brought him here to take a look. Since you are relatives, this matter is even easier to discuss. I think you should make your own decisions. If Mr. Luo wants to see another house, I'm always happy to accompany him."
Da Luo looked at everyone, stood up, and said, "Wait for me a moment, we'll talk later." After saying that, he beckoned his cousin into a room inside.
Liu Shuo quickly composed himself, but Da Luo didn't have time to reminisce with him and went straight to the point: "I heard from the property management that you're in a hurry to sell the house. Is there a problem?"
Liu Shuo adjusted his glasses, pondered for a moment, and said frankly, "Everyone will find out sooner or later, so there's no point in hiding it. The main problem is that we're having cash flow issues. In the second half of last year, we had several projects where we hadn't received much payment, and one of our investment projects had an accident that resulted in a lot of losses. This year, a project here started, but we haven't received payment for the raw materials yet, so we've been on hold for a week. We still haven't received payment for the goods, and the contractor is only paying a portion of the amount. They're also pressing us for payment for the building materials that were owed from the original contracted projects, so things are really difficult."
Da Luo nodded. This kind of situation is common, and he has heard of it many times. His family encountered it a couple of years ago, but with the help of his father-in-law, they were able to get through the crisis. Later, his father learned his lesson and stopped doing projects with poor financial reputation. Instead, he simply invested in some small projects himself and rarely did contract work anymore.
Although Da Luo doesn't do business, he is very clear about the ins and outs of many things. He has always been in close contact with society and can understand things as soon as they are mentioned. He is not as naive as the average college student.
He wouldn't be so kind as to offer unconditional financial assistance to the Liu family; the Liu family wasn't some down-on-their-luck commoners, their assets were at least as much as his and the Li families combined. So he asked his cousin, "How much are you planning to sell this house for?"
Liu Shuo thought for a moment: "It's over 400 square meters. I originally planned to sell it for 500,000, but to be honest, I'm in a hurry lately, so I'm planning to sell it for 400,000. What, you want to buy it?"
Although Da Luo wouldn't help them unconditionally, he wasn't willing to take advantage of their misfortune. So he said, "Sell it to me for 500,000. If you need the money urgently, come to my house tomorrow to collect it. I'll pay you in full. I'll have someone handle the paperwork; you won't have to worry about it. By the way, how many properties do you own in the provincial capital? Is selling just one enough to solve your problem?"
Liu Shuo smiled wryly: "I do own a few properties. But apart from this one, which I bought recently, the others were all acquired a few years ago. Later, due to loans, they were all mortgaged and can't be touched."
Da Luo nodded: "Take me to see the house. I want to see if it suits my needs." The renovation looked pretty good. After all, his aunt's family was in the renovation business. They were probably using really good materials. Since it was for their own home, they were naturally willing to spend money.
Liu Shuo knew it wasn't easy to find someone willing to spend so much money on a house and land at once. Since his cousin wanted it, he was happy to oblige. However, since the seller had given him such a large plot of land at such a low price, he, who always felt superior to his relatives, wasn't willing to take advantage without reason. While leading Da Luo around to look at the land, he said, "We're indeed short on funds right now, so we won't stand on ceremony. The furniture and appliances are all brand names. The quality goes without saying; we'll leave them all for you. As for the rest, we'll leave it all. If you need any renovations, I'll have my construction team downstairs do it for you free of charge. Just let me know. You don't need to worry about the quality."
Da Luo simply glanced around, said nothing more, bid farewell to Liu Shuo, and left with a few people.
As for that relatively remote house that no one had lived in yet, Da Luo didn't go to see it. After thanking the property manager, he, Chen Weiqiang, and Chen Weiguo took another walk around the community. Overall, it was not bad, with a good environment and a large green area.
After getting into the car, Da Luo started the engine and asked Chen Weiguo, "Where is the other place?"
Chen Weiqiang and Chen Weiguo were both stunned. They thought that since Da Luo had decided to buy this house, there was no need to look at other places.
Da Luo smiled and said, "Look, we're buying a house to live in ourselves, so naturally we want to live in a suitable place." Although he wouldn't help the Liu family for nothing, they were relatives after all, so he should help them if he could.
Seeing this situation, Chen Weiguo thought to himself, "This guy is really rich, much richer than I thought. I really underestimated him." Without showing it on his face, he directly gave the address of another place.
It's easy to find; the two places are less than a ten-minute drive apart. It's located on the bank of a river that runs through the city, and the best view is there. There's also a mountain park not far away.
Part of it is already completed. From the outside, it looks like a top-tier residential area, consisting entirely of detached villas, unlike the one we just saw, which also included some high-end residences, commonly known as "soup rats".
Most importantly, even the completed part, with its facilities and environment, is no less impressive than the original, with water features and greenery that make one feel as if they are in a garden in southern China.
One person took one look and fell in love with the property. He then inquired about the completion and sales status of the building. Led by the saleswoman, he rode in an electric cart and looked around the property before heading home.
In the car, Chen Weiguo couldn't help but ask, "Brother Luo, what are your plans? Which do you think is more suitable, this place or your relative's place?"
Da Luo smiled and said, "It's not up to me to decide which one is suitable. I'll bring my wife over in the next day or two to take a look. We'll stay wherever she likes. Oh, by the way, could you come over tomorrow and help us with the transfer of ownership for my cousin's house? My wife and I don't have much time, so please do us the trouble."
Chen Weiguo nodded hurriedly. This was another record broken. He had handled big business before. Last time, that young wife, Luo Jianhua's wife, hadn't treated him badly. It seemed he was going to make another fortune this time. Maybe he could even make a fortune from two of them. It seemed this kid was really rich.
Da Luo didn't care what Chen Weiguo was thinking. He chatted with Chen Weiqiang for a few more minutes and then gave him a ride home. Chen Weiguo wasn't going that way, so he got off the bus and took the bus himself, firmly declining Da Luo's offer to give him a ride. Da Luo didn't stand on ceremony and turned the car around and drove off.
Li Wei is nervously preparing for her exam the day after tomorrow. She has already vented all the pent-up emotions from the past few days to a certain big shot. Now that Da Luo is on vacation, he has plenty of time to spend with her and the child every day, and she feels much more relaxed, no longer as anxious as she had been for a while.
That night, Da Luo lay in bed and told Li Wei about looking at houses. After hearing Da Luo's description, Li Wei immediately became restless and insisted on going to see a house the next day. As for her aunt's house, she had no objection. Not only could it be considered as supporting her aunt's family, but it was also a favor. Considering the potential for the house to appreciate in value in the future, buying it wouldn't be a loss, especially since they might be able to live there.
Li Wei had a general idea of the two locations. They were not close to their school, and it would take Da Luo about twenty minutes to drive there. A taxi would be faster. They were in the opposite direction from their current home, and the locations were also good.
The next day, Da Luo went to the bank to issue a check. When he returned, Liu Shuo and his cousin had already arrived and were chatting happily with Li Wei, while Chen Weiguo sat on one side keeping them company.
Da Luo greeted his cousin and aunt, and then gave the check to Li Wei, because he and Li Wei were considered very important clients at the bank, so getting things done was very convenient and quick.
Li Wei took the check, glanced at it, and handed it to her cousin: "Even close brothers should keep clear accounts. Cousin, take a look. As for the formalities, you can have Brother Chen handle them. We don't have time, so we'll have to trouble you. You can sit with Da Luo for a while. I'll go check on the child first. Excuse me."
Li Wei nodded to the group, signaling to Da Luo to attend to them, while she went to the nursery herself. She could hear Luo Er's loud voice calling out again.
Liu Shuo and Chen Weiguo politely told Li Wei to go ahead with her work. Liu Shuo, who had initially felt a bit superior, found it hard to maintain his composure in the face of Li Wei and his cousin's calm demeanor. Besides, they were dealing with selling houses and land, so he felt incredibly awkward.
Li Wei had just entered the nursery and picked up Luo Er to eat a 'snack' when her elegant and dignified cousin followed her in. She touched each child and said to Li Wei with a smile, "The children have grown a bit bigger. They look much stronger than they did during the New Year. Children grow so fast."
Li Wei smiled and agreed, offering her a seat. The two sat on a simple fabric sofa in the nursery and began to chat.
Li Wei felt that her cousin wouldn't visit unless she had a reason, otherwise she wouldn't have bothered with such a humble visit.
After a few words, my aunt finally got to the point: "I can see that although you and Jianhua haven't been married long, you have some spare money. I have a suggestion: if you think it's appropriate, could you lend it to me at an interest rate of 1.5%? I need it for at least a year, and I'll repay you with the principal and interest in one lump sum. You might want to discuss it with Jianhua. If it's feasible, give me a call. What do you think?"
Li Wei -_-
It turned out they had come to borrow money at exorbitant interest rates, which was unexpected and even a little flattering to her. Her cousin, who was always in big business, actually thought so highly of her and her husband. Li Wei didn't believe that her cousin knew she had made a fortune.
But thinking about it, from raising funds with her cousin Lao Luo during the Chinese New Year to buying a house now, she must be short of money to a certain extent. She probably sees the couple as easy targets.
The saying "even grasshoppers are meat" probably refers to this situation.
