279 pieces of pure love
Lian Hui finished his exam a day earlier than his sister. From then on, he, his brother-in-law, and his sister busied themselves with the new house. Later, Da Luo saw that the work was almost finished, and with Chen Weiguo looking after things, and now with his brother-in-law, he figured everything would be fine.
So on the second day of Li Wei's vacation, he went to the police station for an internship, while the car was left for Li Lianhui and Chen Weiguo to use.
After finishing her exams, Li Wei finally relaxed. She had been incredibly busy lately, and the next day she slept in late. In the middle of the night, her little girl kept crying and wanted to see her.
Aunt Gao saw that Da Luo had already gone out, so she carried Xiao Ya upstairs to find Li Wei. At that time, Li Wei was sleeping soundly and hadn't gotten up yet. She simply hugged Xiao Ya, stuffed her with a "snack," and Xiao Ya automatically shut up. The mother and daughter slept together for a while in a daze.
It was because it was late and Xiaoya hadn't slept for long before waking up. She was squirming around and woke Li Wei up too. Feeling that she had slept enough, she got out of bed as well.
After sending the baby back to the nursery and handing her over to Sister Wei and the others, Li Wei washed up and ate a simple breakfast, or rather, a morning tea, that Aunt Gao had brought up. Lunch would be served in a little while.
Li Wei was pondering what to do today. Should she stay home and spend time with the children, or go check out the house? She hadn't been there since her husband started planning the renovations.
Before she could figure it out, her cousin Liu Shuo arrived with a three-seater stroller, which surprised Li Wei. What was going on this time?
Regardless, one shouldn't be rude to a smiling face, so Li Wei warmly received him. However, Liu Shuo didn't stay long, only explaining, "My mom asked me to deliver this to the three kids. She specially asked someone to order it from the manufacturer and mail it over. It just arrived last night. I overslept this morning, otherwise I would have come earlier. You can see for yourselves whether it's suitable for you. Oh, I have something to do, so I'll go first. Keep in touch if you need anything."
After saying that, he quickly put down his things and drove away.
Li Wei looked at it, completely baffled. When did this "important" cousin start to treat people with such respect? But whatever, it was all the Luo family's business. Her father-in-law and Da Luo would handle her cousin when the time came, it had nothing to do with her.
But this thing, frankly, isn't worth much. However, the sentiment behind it is rare. Although she didn't believe her cousin was truly sincere. She's not that kind of person at all. Giving children some money during the New Year is more like her style.
Since they had nothing better to do, Li Wei and Aunt Gao got to work. They assembled the supposedly three-seater stroller. It was quite simple, and they finished quickly. Li Wei looked at the sky-blue stroller with pink floral patterns and thought it was really good and impressive.
A stroller for one person is normal. A stroller for two twins is cute. A stroller for three people is a bit too long. Li Wei thinks it looks a bit like a limousine. Or rather, a train engine.
Originally, they planned to buy a few strollers when they had some free time during the holidays. After all, they had enough people at home to take care of the children. One for each person wouldn't be a problem. When the children occasionally wandered around the small garden or the neighborhood, they would each carry one. It was also inexpensive. After all, their house was on the ground floor, making it convenient to come and go. Even with the children in their arms, Li Wei didn't let them go far. They would just stroll around the front and back of the building a couple of times.
Looking at this extra-long stroller now, I joked with Aunt Gao, "If we push this thing out, won't people suspect we're street vendors selling steamed buns, mantou, and hot rolls?"
Aunt Gao laughed and said, "Don't talk nonsense. Is there such a luxurious food cart? But I think it's pretty good. Although it's not as spacious as a bicycle, it's enough for three children to lie down and sit. There's also a lot of space underneath, and it's convenient to go out. It doesn't take up much space when folded up. It's quite good. I took a look at the mall a couple of days ago, and they really don't sell them. Even the two-seater ones have to be pre-ordered."
Aunt Gao had been with Li Wei for so long that she was practically family. Sometimes, when Li Wei couldn't figure something out, she would even need Aunt Gao's guidance. Aunt Gao was also ambitious and driven. Through continuous exploration and learning from books, she had become much better than Sister Wei and Sister Zhang in terms of daily care and nutrition for infants and young children. She had essentially established her authoritative position and was a technically skilled leader.
So Li Wei never treated her like an outsider. She took care of all her needs, from food and clothing to daily necessities. Even when Lao Luo and his wife and her own parents came to visit the child, and her aunt brought some clothes and supplies along the way, Li Wei specifically asked her aunt to bring some for Aunt Gao as well. Aunt Gao naturally understood and felt very warm, knowing that Li Wei cared about her and treated her like family.
She especially felt sorry for the young couple, who were raising so many children alone in this unfamiliar place. Despite their good financial situation, she couldn't help but feel sorry for Li Wei.
In the provincial capital, they were considered fellow villagers, and thus different from Sister Wei, Sister Zhang, and even the part-time worker and the new intern. Aunt Gao felt it was her responsibility to take good care of Li Wei and the children, especially since she was being paid by someone else.
As for the money, both families treated her with great respect, and Aunt Gao knew exactly what to do.
Li Wei didn't want to go out anymore, so she and Aunt Gao tidied up the stroller, laid out a mat, packed baby bottles, water bottles, diapers, toilet paper, tissues and other baby supplies, and put the three little ones who were sitting there playing with toys into the stroller. There was a cloth separating each seat, so they wouldn't move around.
Several aunties with children also found it novel and checked the children's clothes, which had just been changed that morning. Seeing that there was nothing wrong, they all put the children in the car one by one.
Suddenly, the three little ones looked at the toys on the dashboard in front of the car with great curiosity. Luo Er and Xiao Ya giggled happily, while Luo Yi, who was more reserved and didn't laugh much, clearly showed his curiosity.
Everyone found it quite amusing to see the three little ones lined up side by side. Even though they had all taken care of many children, they had never seen anything like it before.
Li Wei, Sister Wei, and Sister Zhang went out for a stroll with their strollers, while Aunt Gao and another new nanny stayed at home. Aunt Gao wasn't going to be idle either; she had already taken disinfection supplies and planned to work with the other two to thoroughly disinfect and tidy up the nursery.
Li Wei changed her clothes and went outside. Sister Wei and Sister Zhang were already waiting for her outside with their carts.
Although the cart was a bit wide, it wasn't difficult for one person to push it. Sister Wei didn't need Sister Zhang's help and slowly pushed it ahead, with Li Wei and Sister Zhang following beside her. With this setup, it was impossible not to attract attention.
Because Sister Zhang and Sister Wei often take their children out, they are somewhat familiar with the people in the community, especially the elderly. Li Wei, on the other hand, rarely goes out and doesn't know many people.
Then, elderly people and women with children greeted Sister Wei and Sister Zhang, all curiously observing the group of obviously excited little ones. Occasionally, someone would exclaim, "These children are so cute! Are these the children from the family with three kids you're taking care of? Tsk tsk, they look so interesting, haha!"
Along the way, countless people greeted her like this, and Li Wei became numb to it. She pretended that she was just strolling around, that she was just there for the ride, and that she wasn't a mother. No one doubted that her small frame could raise so many children.
Sister Wei had known Li Wei for a longer time, and had even gone back to Li Wei's parents' and husband's families during the Spring Festival. She knew a bit about Li Wei's thoughts and knew that Li Wei was shy and embarrassed, so she just chatted with the people who greeted her and acted as if Li Wei wasn't there.
Sister Zhang was quite clever and knew a thing or two. She helped Sister Wei cover for Li Wei, so no one paid attention to Li Wei, or rather, no one connected Li Wei with these little kids.
Just assume she's a relative who came along with their child for a stroll; maybe she's just there to buy soy sauce.
Li Wei, along with the children and their aunt, were strolling in the neighborhood when they heard someone calling from afar, "Sister—Sister—"
Li Wei was immediately bewildered. She didn't even need to look to know who it was—who else could it be but Li Lin? How did this girl get here so quickly?
There was no need to turn her head to look. Li Wei reacted quickly, leaving Wei Jie and the other women who were talking to the two women pushing strollers. She quickly went to greet them, saying, "Hey Xiao Lin, what brings you here?" She had just started her vacation at home. Wasn't Li Lin's speed a bit too fast?
Li Lin and Ding Anni came together, each carrying a large bag on their back and a small bag in their hand, looking like they were going on a long trip: "Sister, Anni and I just got a day off today, so we came here to see you and your nephews, hehe."
Li Wei greeted Ding Anni, but when she saw that Li Lin's loud voice was too loud, she quickly pulled her away to talk to her. However, Li Lin was like a gust of wind, bypassing Li Wei and running to the stroller not far away, where she started shouting and yelling with the three children. Even Ding Anni followed her to join in the fun.
Li Wei really wanted to go home. She had been pretending to be an innocent young girl for so long, and she really didn't want to shatter the illusions of those two mothers.
But in the end, they didn't go back, and reluctantly followed along.
But misfortune never comes singly. Perhaps the arrival of Li Lin and Ding Anni is not a problem, after all, an innocent young girl should have sisters, classmates and friends, right? But if an innocent young girl has a child, then that is very suspicious.
As Li Wei approached Li Lin and the others, she was about to take their bags, which could be hung on the hooks next to the stroller handle. She looked at the two of them and felt exhausted. They had come all this way, and these two hadn't even thought of going home to unload them first.
Before she could act, the little girl who spoke first got annoyed by Li Lin. Li Wei, who was behind her, stood with her hands clasped together, frowned, and shouted unhappily, "Mommy, Mommy, hug me, hug me."
Li Wei -_-
