A pleasant journey
Li Wei was furious and frustrated after this sudden ordeal, but she didn't go so far as to cry and make a scene. It was fine for her to do that kind of thing when she was a child, but now she's a grown woman. If she acted like a shrew, her two little brats Li Lin would laugh at her. Besides, there were so many outsiders around.
The car had already started, and Li Wei slowly changed into the clothes that Li Lin had packed for her in the back seat. She also tidied up the large bag containing her things, packing in the basic daily necessities that Li Lin had packed. Although it wasn't exactly perfect, it was passable.
The only thing that pleased her was that there was a bag of small cakes and a bottle of water in her bag. At least this girl had some conscience and knew that she hadn't eaten anything that morning.
There were only Luo Da and Li Wei in the car. Li Lin and Li Lianhui had been sent to other cars. Li Lin looked around and saw about five or six cars, including jeeps and station wagons. If you didn't look closely, you wouldn't be able to tell that these cars were a group.
After surveying her surroundings, Li Wei took out a small cake and ate it slowly while thinking to herself, "Luo Da is just an uncivilized barbarian now. He's grown up and has his own opinions. Reasoning with him is probably pointless. Even if it works, it's only temporary. He might suddenly become a beast one day. Judging from the current situation, I'll definitely be the one who suffers. I need to find a way to get myself out of this predicament."
It might be really hard to find someone to subdue this beast. Luckily, this guy still has some sense of morality and righteousness, otherwise it would be a real problem...
Moreover, although he doesn't seem to care much about enjoying life, he does seem to have some hobbies, like punching a sandbag, otherwise, without a place to vent his energy, he might as well commit murder and robbery... Wait a minute, could it be that this guy has been punching sandbags less since moving to the city in the last two years, and now he's full of energy and thinking about sex after being well-fed and clothed...
Seeing Li Wei sitting silently in the back, Luo Da was a little worried, wondering if he had gone too far. What was the point of having to force Li Xiaoming to talk to him every time he did something if Li Xiaoming never spoke to him again? After thinking for a moment, he cleared his throat and said, "Um... I just thought you'd be bored at home. It would be nice to go out for a walk. If you really don't want to go, how about..."
Li Wei glanced at Luo Da's eyes in the rearview mirror: "Forget it, we're already out here. Making a fuss won't spoil everyone's fun. But you, could you please give me a chance to express my opinion before you do anything? Could you please not be so violent? Is it fun to bully a weak woman like me?"
Luo Da was silent for a moment before saying, "I'll try my best." When had he ever bullied her?
Silence fell over the car again. Li Wei didn't believe Luo Da could really do his best; the Luo family's standards of behavior were quite different from ordinary people. They seemed to never follow normal rules, and Li Wei didn't dare to expect peace to return from then on.
Sometimes, you really have to rely on yourself. She believed that. With nothing else to do these next few days, she was sure she could find a way to put this wild beast in a zoo during her free time. Whether it was a bear enclosure or a tiger cage, as long as it didn't come out and bite, that was fine. Since she was already out, Li Wei decided to relax and have fun. Apparently, this trip would last about ten days, from north to south along the coastline to Qingdao and back. They would be sleeping outdoors many times along the way.
These people gradually began to impress Li Wei. When they first met in the park, they didn't seem like a good group at all. But after spending a few days together, she discovered they each had their own strengths. And through Luo Dadi's introduction, she learned that these people actually did all sorts of things.
The chubby guy with the lecherous grin was a chef. He owned two restaurants. He was in charge of meals whenever they camped. His van was half-full of cooking utensils, and the other half was filled with various seasonings and ingredients. Some he brought himself, and some he bought on the spot.
Li Wei almost wondered if this guy was out having fun or working as a cook. But it was clear he was completely absorbed in it and thoroughly enjoying himself.
Li Lin, Li Wei, and several of their girlfriends or wives took turns helping out. This guy could grill, sizzle, and even fry and sauté—everything he did was incredibly fragrant and mouthwatering. Because they lived along the coastline, he cooked a lot of fish, especially fish soup, which Li Wei never tired of.
Li Wei was also a foodie, so she especially enjoyed helping him out, hoping to learn a few tricks along the way. She also learned that this guy's name was Xu Shouchun. He used to be the head chef at Jingxiangyuan Restaurant before starting his own business. Shouchunlou Restaurant was his. Despite Xu Shouchun's somewhat sleazy appearance, his wife, Xiaomei, was a charming and lively beauty, seemingly much younger than him, around twenty years old. She was said to have been a waitress at Jingxiangyuan before starting the business with him.
Another guy who was popular with the girls was a pointy-faced, monkey-like fellow. He was a photographer who owned a wedding photography studio and often took photos for everyone. He had a full head of curly hair, making him look like a curly-haired mouse, and wore a canvas shirt and pants full of pockets. Li Wei looked at him like the Eight-Bag Elder of the Beggars' Sect.
Xu Shouchun's smile was somewhat lewd; the way he stood there made him seem lewd. What made him even more lewd was his wife—that's how he described her, but Li Wei thought she was his mistress. She was a woman with a hot body and seductive manners, who was coquettish regardless of the time or place. For the first few days, she and Li Lin were completely stunned, but they got used to it after a while.
There was also the clothing store owner dressed like a beggar with his girlfriend, and a college student from a well-off family driving an imported car with his younger sister who was in high school.
Surprisingly, there was also a physical education teacher from the high school, a burly middle-aged man who exuded a fierce and ruthless aura, like someone involved in the underworld. Li Wei couldn't find any of the excellent qualities of a teacher in him no matter how she looked at him.
The teacher's surname is Pan. He came alone and seems to be an outdoor enthusiast. He drives a Jeep and is always the general manager of camping trips. He's also a great fisherman.
Li Wei estimated that the average age of this group was around thirty. She wondered how Luo Da had gotten in. Curious, she inquired and learned that they had met while racing. That did seem like Luo Da's style.
When Luo Da came, he prepared two double tents. Li Wei and Li Lin shared one, and he and Li Lianhui shared the other. The towel blankets that Li Wei brought also came in handy. They slept quite comfortably, ate well, and had a good time, although they all got quite tanned.
Especially during the daytime when driving, several women would take turns moving between cars, chatting and laughing together, which was quite amusing.
But clearly, everyone found Li Wei more interesting; the way she joined the group that morning had left a deep impression on them. So whenever they talked together, they would subtly scrutinize Li Wei, as if trying to figure out what kind of trick she was up to that had Luo Jianhua so infatuated.
Especially the lewd photographer's seductive female companion, who made Li Wei's skin crawl and stand up solemnly. Wow, her eyes are exceptionally sharp, like someone who loves to rip clothes off someone because they're thirsty for light.
The photographer was ugly in appearance, and the woman was ugly to the core.
These people all lived comfortably and enjoyed themselves, especially a few who were particularly witty and humorous, making the whole trip quite pleasant. On the return journey, Li Lin was rather reluctant to leave and waved goodbye to everyone. When Luo Da took the three siblings home, Li Lin specifically reminded him, "Next time you go out to play, be sure to call me, Hua Ge!" The most rewarding person was Li Lianhui, who learned many outdoor survival skills, fished and pitched tents with Teacher Pan the whole way, and even learned to drive, showing signs of developing into an outdoor sports enthusiast.
Li Wei also gained a lot. That night, lying at home, she applied a whitening face mask while planning how to spur Luo Da onto the right path. She already had a plan in mind and was just waiting to put it into action.
You little punk, I've lived many years longer than you, and I refuse to believe I'll be defeated on your little hill. If we can't fight you head-on, we'll outsmart you.
Her grand ambition is to find a mature, stable, reliable, and understanding husband in the future. What kind of talk is it to let this little brat take her? Don't think you're invincible just because you're good at fighting. There are plenty of bigger mountains behind your little hill.
After resting at home for a day, Li Wei began to take action. According to the plan, she first went to find her maternal grandfather, Grandpa Cheng.
Li Wei ate dinner at her maternal grandmother's house that evening. After clearing the table, her grandmother went inside and watched TV while leaning against the pillows. Li Wei and her grandfather set up a small round table in the yard, placed a watermelon and her grandfather's tobacco box on it, and the two of them started a tea party.
Li Wei asked casually, "Grandpa, have you taught all the kung fu you know to Luo Da? Is he very skilled now?"
The old man took a puff of his cigarette and said slowly, "Sigh, your grandpa's skills are just so-so. I've only been learning for a year or two, and I'm not even a beginner. I've taught him everything I could.
Li Wei took a bite of watermelon: "Shouldn't Luo Da continue his studies? Didn't you say he has the potential to learn martial arts? Don't waste it. Besides, if he's not that good but thinks he's all that, he'll be easily defeated if he runs into a real expert." Luo Da, look how good I am to you, how much I care about you! I'm even touching myself with emotion.
The old man smoked while pondering Li Wei's words. He genuinely liked Luo Da; he was honest (as he appeared in front of him), and very filial. While he was still young, with proper nurturing, he had a bright future. Moreover, his father strongly supported his son learning martial arts and was very respectful to the old man. He should seize these few years to hone his skills; otherwise, he'd lose potential as he grew older. It would be a pity to waste his time under his care. Most importantly, the boy was very hardworking…
While eating watermelon, Li Wei observed her grandfather's expression, gently tapping and whispering, offering suggestions and ideas...
She knew very well that her grandfather trusted her a lot and liked Luo Da very much, thinking that Luo Da was a promising person. Therefore, since the capable should do more, she had to find something for Luo Da to do, otherwise he would get bored out of his mind.
The father and son chatted for a long time before going to sleep. Although the old man had some ideas, he planned to wait for Luo Da to arrive before discussing it further. After all, it was the child's own business, and he could only offer guidance but not make decisions for him. Ultimately, it depended on Luo Da's own wishes and the parents' opinions.
The next day, before Li Wei even got out of bed, Luo Da arrived. Li Wei had heard Li Lin, who had gone downstairs to eat, run up to report this. Ever since Luo Da violently took Li Wei on a trip, Li Lin hadn't looked at Li Wei with much respect, and had even secretly tried to seduce her, only to be dismissed with a simple "get lost" from Li Wei. But the fire of gossip in her heart hadn't been extinguished, and it would occasionally flare up again.
Luo Dadi's arrival reignited Li Lindi's gossipy nature.
