Encountering bad guys on the road 162
Li Wei and Li Lin yawned as they went to school for half a day, marking the official start of the school holiday. They went straight to bed as soon as they got home for both lunch breaks, skipping lunch and catching up on sleep.
Actually, the two of them usually go to bed early, and being young, staying up late once in a while isn't a big deal. A major reason is that it's vacation time, and the tension from a semester suddenly eases, leading to fatigue.
After sleeping for more than two hours, Li Wei woke up first, mainly because she was hungry. Rubbing her eyes, she got out of bed and went straight to the dining room.
Aunt Gao was cleaning the kitchen utensils when she saw Li Wei come out. She smiled and said, "Are you hungry? The food is still warm. I knew you would get up to eat. Do you want to call Xiaolin to eat with us? I bet she's hungry too."
Li Wei thought about it and agreed. She went over and pounded on Li Lin's door, which woke Li Lin up again.
While Li Wei and Li Lin were having lunch, Li Wei suddenly remembered Li Lianhui and asked Aunt Gao, "Aunt Gao, have you seen Xiaohui? Has he eaten yet?"
Aunt Gao kept working: "I've already eaten since I got back. Oh, I ate with Luo Jianhua, but he left right after we finished eating. He said he went to the martial arts school and asked you to call him if he needed anything."
Li Wei got a little angry when she heard Luo Jianhua's name. It was all because of him: "Aunt Gao, if Luo Jianhua comes to eat again, just say there's no food left!" But then she thought it was a bit childish and would only make things difficult for Aunt Gao, so she said, "Never mind, I'll just say it myself."
After dinner, Li Wei and Li Lin discussed it and decided that since it was getting late, they would go home the next morning. However, they decided to visit their aunt's house beforehand. They hadn't been there for a while and wondered how Dingding was doing. They were sure he was becoming more and more interesting.
The aunt's house wasn't far, and the wind had stopped outside, so the two decided to walk there. After all, it was a rare moment of leisure, and they were already dressed. They greeted Aunt Gao and set off.
It was early December, the coldest time of winter. Although it wasn't freezing cold, the breath exhaled created a white haze in front of her eyes. Li Wei wore a mask, and her breath often escaped from the sides of her nose, making her eyebrows feel as if they were covered in frost. It was cool.
Li Lin's face was also red from the cold, as if she had applied blush, making her look radiant and pretty. Li Wei, finding it inconvenient to talk while wearing a mask, simply took it off. Soon, her cheeks were also pink. For a moment, the two sisters looked like dolls from a traditional Chinese New Year painting, extremely delicate and beautiful.
The two sisters were chatting and strolling along when a few boys approached. Li Wei recognized one of them. Wasn't that Geng Xinyang? This guy had been quite well-behaved lately. His final grades were also good; he ranked third. He had slipped quite a bit in the previous two monthly exams, but now he had caught up again.
It really is. It can go up and down, like an elevator.
Actually, since they were in the same class, Li Wei's impression of Geng Xinyang had improved considerably. Despite his somewhat playboy tendencies, Geng Xinyang was quite diligent in his work and studies. At least when Li Wei worked with him on assignments given by the teacher, he was very proactive and honest, never nitpicking or arguing. He was straightforward and didn't care much about petty gains or losses. He was also very kind and easy to get along with.
Geng Xinyang also saw Li Wei and her sister. He wanted to greet them, but after looking at his friends, he hesitated. Li Wei spoke to him first: "Hey? Geng Xinyang! Are you going out to play too?" Looking at these people, some even had ice skates slung over their shoulders. They were probably going to the park to ice skate.
Before Geng Xinyang could speak, one of the boys wearing a black hat spoke up. He grinned at Li Wei and her sister, then said to Geng Xinyang, "Hey, Lao Geng, who's this? Why don't you introduce them? You're really not being nice, hehe..."
Geng Xinyang forced a smile and said, "Li Wei, you guys are out for a stroll too. Oh, these people are my... friends." Geng Xinyang instinctively didn't want to introduce Li Wei and the others to the people around him.
Out of politeness, Li Wei smiled and nodded to the group, then pulled Li Lin away. Judging from their eyes and expressions, they didn't seem like good people. She wondered what had gotten into Geng Xinyang, that he was hanging out with these people.
Although Luo Da often hangs out with people who seem a bit unreliable, he has never encountered anyone who looks at people with such an uncomfortable gaze, even though they love to stir up trouble and have a sharp tongue.
Unexpectedly, two people stepped forward and blocked Li Wei and her companion's path. It was the same guy in the black hat, who grinned and said, "What's the rush? We haven't properly introduced ourselves yet. Hehe, um... little classmate, my name is Tong Cheng, what's your name?"
No matter how Li Wei looked at this guy, he seemed like the Big Bad Wolf who was trying to kidnap Little Red Riding Hood. But the problem was, she wasn't Little Red Riding Hood; she was more like Old Red Riding Hood.
Li Wei's smile vanished. "I don't know you, and I don't want to know you. Goodbye." She grabbed Li Lin and tried to leave. "How does this damned Geng Xinyang know these people?" Li Wei thought bitterly.
Li Lin, who was usually loud and boisterous, had never seen anything like this before, and leaned against her sister in fear.
The other two boys blocking their way moved along, preventing Li Wei and the others from leaving. Geng Xinyang panicked when he saw this and hurriedly came over to pull Tong Cheng away, but he didn't dare to speak harshly. He forced a polite tone and said, "Chengzi, Chengzi, she's my classmate. Let them go. Consider it a favor I owe you."
Chengzi was quite tall and imposing. He shoved Geng Xinyang aside and said somewhat unhappily, "Stop dawdling. You have such a pretty classmate and you didn't even introduce her to me. I haven't settled the score with you yet." He then turned to Li Wei and the other girl with a beaming smile and said, "Let's go have some fun. We'll go ice skating in the park, and then I'll treat you to dinner. Let's go."
He came over and tried to pull Li Wei away, not giving her a chance to refuse. I don't know where he developed such a domineering personality.
Li Wei and Li Lin stepped back, their expressions turning cold. Li Wei tried to speak calmly, saying, "We have other things to do. Thank you for your kindness, but we'll be leaving now."
Seeing this, Geng Xinyang also became anxious and stepped in to stop them. He couldn't afford to offend either side: "Um... Chengzi..."
Geng Xinyang was shrewd enough not to make a sound, fearing he might provoke Tong Yanei's temper. He whispered something in Chengzi's ear for a while, and Chengzi's expression became much more composed, no longer showing the same playful and joking face.
However, after Geng Xinyang finished speaking, his face turned cold: "Hmph. Does Ding Hong have any say in my territory? As for that Luo Jianhua, I didn't run into him, otherwise, would I have let him be so arrogant for so long in junior high? Don't try to intimidate me with them. Others may be afraid of them, but I don't take them seriously. I want to see what they dare to do to me!"
Li Wei heard everything he said clearly. Damn it. This is a real bully. Compared to him, Geng Xinyang and Luo Da are as innocent as little white rabbits. Li Wei turned her head and whispered to Li Lin, "You run first and hurry up and deliver the message. I'll stall for a little while longer."
Li Wei shrank behind Li Wei, and although she was scared, she still stood firm: "No, I'll go with you."
"Oh dear. You run fast. At my speed, they'll catch me in no time. Listen to me, or we'll both be in trouble. Hurry up."
After Tong Cheng finished speaking, the way he looked at Li Wei and her sister had changed. If he was just joking before, he was now being serious with ill intentions.
Li Wei gently nudged Li Lin with her hand while forcing a smile: "Um, how about I go ice skating with you guys? I really like ice skating rinks, but my sister is a bit cold. And her stomach hurts, so she has to go back and lie down first."
Tong Cheng glanced at Li Lin, who was timidly peeking at him, touched his chin, and beckoned to Geng Xinyang, whose face was extremely ugly: "The one you were talking about, is it this one?"
Geng Xinyang was stunned for a moment, his expression changed several times, and finally he nodded stiffly.
Chengzi became inexplicably happy and said to Li Wei, "Okay, let your sister go back and rest. We won't do anything that would be difficult for lovers. Why don't you come and have some fun with us?"
Li Wei breathed a sigh of relief. She nudged Li Lin. Li Lin wasn't ungrateful. Although she'd lost much of her usual quick wit in fright, she still knew these people weren't good. What if something happened to her sister if she went with them?
So Li Lin hesitated, not wanting to leave. This made Li Wei anxious, but she couldn't show it on her face. She pinched Li Lin's hand hard, and Li Lin cried out in pain, knowing that her sister was worried.
Li Wei comforted Li Lin, "It's okay, my classmate Geng Xinyang is inside, no one will bully me, right?" But she was speaking to Tong Cheng.
Tong Cheng chuckled mischievously: "No, of course not. I never bully girls. It's the girls who like me to bully them, hehe..."
Li Lin left helplessly, but as soon as she turned the corner, she ran to a nearby convenience store to make a phone call.
In fact, Li Wei had considered calling for help, but on one side was the park's iron fence, and on the other side was the back of a residential building. It was a cold day, and there weren't many pedestrians. Everyone was walking in a hurry, so it was no wonder that no one would care about these hooligans.
After all, they hadn't officially broken off relations yet, and the conflict hadn't escalated on the spot. Who knew what those delinquent teenagers might do?
Li Wei glanced at the somewhat stiff Geng Xinyang, then at the young scoundrel in charge: "How about we go ice skating first? The side entrance is just around the corner."
The park isn't crowded in winter, but there are plenty of people ice skating. It's one of the few outdoor activities available during the coldest days of winter, attracting adults and children alike.
Tong Cheng wasn't in a hurry either. While looking Li Wei up and down, he smiled and said, "Okay, no rush. But it's no fun going through the gate. If we climb over this fence and cross this small hill, we'll be on the ice rink. Let's take the shortcut."
Li Wei didn't know what this guy was up to, but as long as she stayed outdoors, she should be relatively safe. However, looking at the black iron fence around her, with a low wall below and spearheads on top that were a head taller than her, she suddenly had an idea: "Okay, jumping over the wall is fun, but you guys jump first. My head might have some difficulty, I'll have to climb slowly."
Tong Cheng smiled, said nothing, winked at the people next to him, and glared at Geng Xinyang, who seemed to want to say something but hesitated.
So, without saying a word, the four boys, apart from Tong Cheng and Geng Xinyang, quickly jumped over the fence.
Li Wei looked at the two of them, and they looked at her back. Li Wei smiled wryly and said, "Well... you two go first. I'm slow, and I'm afraid you won't be able to wait."
Tong Cheng said leisurely, "I'm not in a hurry. Take your time jumping. Just make sure you can jump over before dark today, hehe."
Li Wei cursed inwardly, "You damn turtle, you didn't even jump over before dark!"
Li Wei rubbed her hands together in a pretentious manner; this was indeed a difficult task for her, and she wasn't faking it.
