Ninety-one nights ghost howls
Learning to ride a bicycle is like swimming; it's easy for some and difficult for others. It's all about getting a feel for it—the balance between the two wheels, just like learning to float and feel the buoyancy of water is essential for swimming.
Luo Da gave Ding Anni a time limit of one night, which is only one or two hours.
This might be possible with a guy who's not afraid of bloodshed or sacrifice, like Luo Da. But with a pampered girl like Ding Anni, the outcome is predictable.
In particular, Ding Anni didn't have Li Wei's guts. She could laugh and joke in the face of Luo Da's negative emotions, knowing that Luo Da couldn't hit her.
At first, things were going well. Luo Da was holding onto the back seat from behind, and Ding Anni was riding in front. It seemed like even a dog could ride on it, so everything was going great.
Then, Luo Da began to let go.
At first, Ding Anni didn't realize it and thought riding a bike was quite easy. She turned around to show off to Luo Da, but when she turned around and found that he was gone, she immediately panicked. She couldn't hold the handlebars steady and started shouting in a panic. The bike was wobbling and lost its direction.
Luo Da, unmoved, listened to the piercing screams and coldly remarked, "What are you yelling for! Use that energy to steady the bike! You won't die if you fall!"
Ding Anni was both frightened and angry, on the verge of tears. She knew from his tone that he wouldn't help her. Her temper flared, and she burst into a tirade: "Luo Jianhua, you big bad guy! If I fall, I'll haunt you even as a ghost... Help me..."
The driving lesson was held in an elementary school playground, which was quite spacious. Ding Anni struggled around the playground like a drunkard, but didn't fall down for the first time. However, even the largest playground has an end. Ding Anni, who was too scared to turn, was about to crash into the small wall between the boys' and girls' restrooms when she suddenly stopped.
"Ah, Ding Anni is still calling out. She forgot to come down. The child is quite frightened."
"Alright. Stop yelling." Is it really necessary to be this scared?
Luo Jianhua is even scarier than a bicycle!
Ding Anni finally came to her senses. Tears welled in her eyes. She tumbled off her bicycle, her arms and legs weak, shouting, "I'm not learning anymore! Do whatever you want!" Grandma, I just don't want to learn!
Luo Da turned the car around. This toilet was no good place: "Suit yourself! Find someone to take you tomorrow." His ears were still ringing. This girl. What a nuisance.
Ding Anni caught her breath for a while. She felt much better. That was truly a terrifying experience.
Ding Anni cautiously glanced up at Luo Da's expressionless face. Even without an expression, Ding Anni could feel being looked down upon. She frowned. Li Wei's disdain was understandable; she felt Luo Da was superior to her in many ways. Even her father had confirmed that. Why did this country bumpkin, Luo Jianhua, look down on her like that? Just because he can ride a bike and I can't?
Ding Anni has always been arrogant, believing that she is smart, beautiful, and from a good family, so it's only natural that she's always been fawned over by those around her. After all, she's so outstanding.
She was being looked down upon now, all because of a bicycle that almost everyone could ride—something she absolutely couldn't accept. So, gritting her teeth and stamping her foot, as if going to her execution, she called out to Luo Da, who was about to ride away, "I...I'll keep learning!"
Luo Da could hear the grinding sound of her teeth clenching together. Although he found it amusing, he still pushed the bike in front of her and helped her up from behind, saying, "Get in."
Ding Anni climbed onto the old bicycle from Luo Dana's old spot and started pedaling again. The fear in her heart couldn't be dispelled simply by making a decision. Several times she looked back and saw Luo Jianhua supporting her from behind, and she secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
They rode around the playground twice. Ding Anni was riding quite smoothly now; at least she could turn on her own. She was quite excited. She knew she was a very smart girl—that was universally acknowledged, not just something she said herself. Actually, riding a bike wasn't that difficult. Look how simple it is…
Feeling quite pleased with herself, Ding Anni took another detour. Out of the corner of her eye, she thought she saw someone familiar in the middle of the playground, and glanced at them again...
A scream pierced the night sky.
The next morning, the neighbors met up and discussed, "Hey, buddy, did you hear anything last night?"
"Brother, you heard that too, right? I was sleeping soundly when I suddenly woke up. I thought there had been a thief. But when I got up and looked, there was nothing there."
"Your sister-in-law wasn't asleep then. She said it was a scream coming from the elementary school playground. I guess some girl got violated, sigh..."
"Oh! Really? Your house is close to the land, didn't you go and check it out?"
"I wanted to go, but your sister-in-law kept me from going, saying that there had been two gang crimes recently, and I would just be cannon fodder if I went. But then I peeked over the wall of my house and there was no one there. Maybe it really is haunted."
"Yes, I think so. The old folks always say that men are fierce and ghosts are fierce, so don't go out at night so easily in the future."
That night, Ding Anni, who was suspected of being haunted by a female ghost, adding a touch of eeriness to the local area, didn't come away empty-handed.
She learned to ride a bicycle even with someone helping her get on and then someone waiting at the finish line to hold the bicycle so she could climb off.
However, it's not easy to find a boy who can lead the horse and hold it up by the stirrups.
The next morning, after Li Wei and Luo Er'er, Fatty, and Ding Anni arrived, she was delighted to find that Ding Anni had ridden her bicycle there by herself, while Fatty, covered in sweat, had run alongside her.
Li Wei asked Ding Anni happily, "It seems you've learned it! You're so smart and amazing!"
Ding Anni, equally smug, feigned modesty and said, "It's just so-so."
When Ding Anni arrived, she rode Erpangzi's new bike. Li Wei couldn't bear to see Erpangzi riding on his back like that, even though it was good for his weight loss. She pushed out her own new bike, which was newer than any bike bought around the same time, and offered it to Ding Anni: "You ride mine. It's lower and easier to ride."
Ding Anni tried it, and sure enough, at least the problem of getting on the bike was solved. Ding Anni was slightly taller than Li Wei, and her legs were relatively longer because the bike was low. She could sit on the seat as soon as she straddled it, just like most boys. This solved the problem of losing her balance when she first pedaled and then got on the bike.
Ding Anni was overjoyed. A good start was half the battle won, and she was already nearly halfway there; now she was almost there, with only a tiny bit of uncertainty left about getting off the bus. She believed that if she could get on, getting off wouldn't be a problem either.
The group went to school together, and Li Wei was quite happy. The private car was back! Luo Da's car was still the most comfortable; the back seat was spacious, and the car was stable. Li Wei thought that if she and Luo Da had straps to each other, she could take a nap. She might consider trying that sometime when she felt sleepy.
Ding Anni was quite pleased with herself; she had finally gotten a little exposure in front of Li Wei and proved that she was still quite excellent. It felt really good.
Li Wei was enjoying a gentle spring breeze, comfortably leaning back on the sofa, savoring a piece of nut chocolate in her mouth.
A scream pierced the clear morning sky over the campus.
Luo Da's ears twitched unconsciously, but he got off the bike without reacting and pushed it to the bike shed to park. Li Wei was stunned by the scream and forgot to get off. It wasn't until Luo Da pushed the bike past and collided with the student on duty that Li Wei came to her senses and jumped off in surprise. She exclaimed, "What...what happened?" How could an accident happen in just a few seconds?
Ding Anni was actually fine, just a little frightened, while the boy with glasses and a red armband was in a worse state. He was sitting there with his pen and notebook out of his hand, and there was a clear tire track on his body.
Li Wei didn't dare to laugh either. While speaking to the boy, she comforted him, "How are you, classmate? Are you alright?" If you're a boy and can't withstand being hit by a bicycle, you might as well go and hit a wall.
The boy was fine too, just like Ding Anni. They were both a little frightened. You can't entirely blame them for being timid; after all, being suddenly hit in front of someone by a speeding, screaming train would startle anyone and leave them momentarily stunned. Being hit head-on is understandable.
Li Wei helped Ding Anni push the bike into the bike shed, and looked back to see the princess still grumbling and brushing the dust off her body. It was truly a hardship for her. Although she had been dragged to school by Luo Da and Erpangzi, considering she had only been learning for such a short time, her courage was truly commendable.
At lunchtime, Li Wei had brought a lot of delicious food this time. She pulled Luo Da to eat with her. It was obvious without asking that Luo Da had been tormented by Ding Anni last night. She felt she had to offer her condolences and sympathy.
Whether Luo Da is in love or not, it's all for her sake.
During the afternoon self-study period, the teacher announced that the school would be holding a spring sports meet, and asked students to sign up as soon as possible if they had any special skills. For the honor of the class, no slacking off was allowed. Also, the drum band, waist drum team, gymnastics team, etc., could be signed up voluntarily, and those who did not sign up would have to accept the school's assignment.
Ding Anni is a visiting student, so she can come and go as she pleases; Li Wei doesn't need to worry about her. But Ding Anni herself needs to carefully consider which program to apply for.
Unable to make up her mind, she went to Wu Feng and Zhou Xiaoyan to discuss it. Zhou Xiaoyan was still resentful that Li Wei had abandoned her for Ding Anni. When Li Wei asked her about it, she said irritably, "Why don't you talk to your new lover? Why are you asking me?"
Li Wei knew Zhou Xiaoyan was just venting, so she suppressed a laugh and said, "What are you saying? New clothes are worse than old ones, and old lovers are worse than new ones. My feelings for you are as deep as the ocean." She wondered if that could drown someone.
Zhou Xiaoyan was amused by Li Wei's serious tone and gave her a flirty wink: "Just kidding, silly girl. Hmm, I just learned it from TV yesterday and used it on this girl. I don't know if this counts as putting what you've learned into practice?"
Li Wei was so shocked by the electric shock that she trembled all over, her skin cracked and her flesh raw, just like Wu Lao Er next door.
I covered my face and lay down. My goodness—how can they all be so incredibly handsome!
When will I be able to cultivate myself to that level?
