Sixty-Four Little Sheep

Sixty-Four Little Sheep

Li Wei's cleaning group consisted of six people. There was no need to divide the work; some sprinkled water, others swept the floor. When Li Wei saw that she had no tools left, she first arranged the chairs, then filled a basin with water to clean the glass blackboard that her mother had contributed.

Wu Feng offered to help, but Li Wei refused and told her to do her homework while she wiped the blackboard with a wet cloth, sighing, "Motherly love, you are everywhere! I can see you every time I look up."

After wiping the blackboard, he stood at a distance and admired it for a while, feeling quite pleased with himself, when a discordant note came over the loudspeaker: "Tch, what's so great about that? So what if he's rich!"

It was a girl on duty with Zhou Xiaoyan, who seemed to be quite close to her. Li Wei didn't even bother to turn around and look, continuing to bask in her reverie: "Yes, I'm so rich! What can I do? Look at this watch, from Shanghai, over two hundred; look at this outfit, from Feifei's company, over three hundred; look at these pants, from Beijing, over four hundred; look at these leather shoes, from Italy, over six hundred..."

What else should I look at...? Li Wei simply flapped her wings twice on the spot: "Look at the fragrance all over her body, it's French, poison perfume... whoever smells it will be poisoned, hehe."

The girl's face wasn't very good, but she still had to argue: "Show-off! She's just a small business owner, what's there to be proud of? Zhou Xiaoyan's dad is an official in the town government!" She was so smug, as if her dad was the one in the government.

Li Wei still smiled and said, "Wrong, it's not a sole proprietorship, it's Feifei Apparel Co., Ltd., you know? It's one of the top 50 companies in the world, you know? It's a big company, you know? The top boss isn't called a factory director, he's called the chairman, the chairman of Chairman Mao. The second-highest boss is called the general manager, the premier of the beloved Premier Zhou, you know? Isn't that much bigger than the officials in that town? Kids don't understand, don't talk nonsense in the future. Otherwise people will laugh at you for being uncultured and ignorant. Hey... you've finished your work, what are you standing there for? Go home and do your homework!"

To be honest, the girl seemed to only vaguely understand what Li Wei was saying; she seemed to have heard something about it, but couldn't quite put it into words. Having lost her advantage, she snorted at Li Wei and slung her backpack over her shoulder and walked away.

Li Wei smiled and said, "Goodbye, Zhou Daying." I knew I'd mistaken you for someone else; you're nobody, yet you still dare to bully others.

After seeing off the bored girls, Li Wei turned around and saw that only she and Wu Feng were left in the classroom: "Huh? Xiao Feng, where did Luo Da go?"

Wu Feng knew that Li Wei sometimes liked to fool people, and she secretly admired Li Wei for having so many fancy terms. While secretly amused herself in her seat, she called out, "I don't know! He was just here! Luo Jianhua—" But there was still no response.

The two looked at Luo Da's schoolbag on his desk. He shouldn't have gone far.

The two women were staring at each other, wide-eyed. Luo Da walked in, his clothes disheveled. He looked at Li Wei and asked, "Shouldn't we go home?"

Li Wei looked him up and down several times: "Yeah. Where have you been? You seem to be quite efficient. Using all your spare time to fight and brawl to improve your blood circulation. Aren't you supposed to be good at kung fu? What happened? Your clothes are all torn?"

Luo Da's expression was somewhat unnatural: "There aren't many of them. Besides, I can't kill someone. Your grandfather said if I cripple someone, he'll cripple me. I have to be careful, don't I?"

Li Wei was quite surprised. She hadn't expected to witness someone win people over with virtue today: "Then why are you still fighting? Are you trying to fool a child? Then don't go and fight! It's not like you're eating. Why do you have to fight?!" Wouldn't that prevent you from having fun?

Luo Da's expression returned to normal: "We have no choice but to fight. You don't understand. When you're in the martial world, you're not always in control of your own destiny!"

Li Wei felt her legs were a little weak, so she held onto the desk next to her and asked, "Big brother, how old are you this year? Are you married yet? How many years have you been in the martial arts world? Which sect are you from? How many villains have you killed? Do you have any nicknames that I can admire?"

Wu Feng burst out laughing.

Luo Da was quite annoyed, but hearing Li Wei call him "Big Brother" still made him feel rather pleased, even though it sounded a bit fake. Li Xiaoming, though not very smart, timid, and not very strong... had always been quite arrogant at school and at home. She wasn't afraid of most people. Of course, this didn't include his mother and Little Caterpillar.

The eldest brother of a genius is indeed a genius.

The truly remarkable Luo Da never considered himself to be the real genius. Xiao Ming, on the other hand, is a fake genius.

Upon arriving at the bike shed, Li Wei placed her small cushion on Luo Da's back seat, and the two of them got into the bike together and headed home.

Wu Feng, standing nearby, asked Li Wei curiously, "Did you really put on perfume? I can't smell it. Is it really poisonous?"

Li Wei glanced at Wu Feng: "You actually believed what I told Zhou Daying? Perfume? Soft drink, you know!"

Wu Feng: "So... the Shanghai watch, Beijing pants, and Italian leather shoes you mentioned are all fake?" But they do look quite nice.

Li Wei glanced at Wu Feng, realizing that this girl didn't quite understand her: "Not entirely. Remember, the highest level of deception is to have some parts that are true, and then mix in some fakes. The watch is from Shanghai, the fabric of the clothes and pants is from Beijing, and the shoes are local. That's it."

Wu Feng seemed to understand but not quite: "Oh, so it's not that expensive after all?"

Li Wei, ever the good Samaritan, said, "Of course it's not that expensive. Do you think I have so much money I don't know what to do with it? I'm not some fat sheep waiting to be robbed! But the watch is quite expensive; the rest isn't worth much." Worthless, but not cheap either.

Wu Feng was actually quite curious. She had heard her mother say that Li Wei's family was very wealthy. She seemed to understand and asked, "Oh, I see. Then why do you call Zhou Ying 'Zhou Daying'? Did you know her before?"

Li Wei felt she could go and have her fortune told: "I noticed she's always following Zhou Xiaoyan around, neither of them seem like good birds. A big eagle is good for Xiaoyan, it's just right."

Li Wei felt the bike swerve and almost collide with Wu Feng beside her. She quickly grabbed Luo Da's clothes and patted him on the back: "Be careful, drive safely, and don't get emotional while riding."

Luo Da Wu Feng: ...

When they arrived at Li Wei's house, Wu Feng and Luo Da, who had grown up together, didn't stand on ceremony. After parking the car, they went upstairs with Li Wei to eat banana splits, which they had never tried before. They had never heard of eating banana splits before.

Li Wei led the two to her private kitchenette and dining room next to her bedroom upstairs.

The two were immediately struck by the bright and cheerful atmosphere upon entering the room. It was a world apart from the style of the small building. Along one wall was a row of softly colored ceramic tiles. Next to the wall were several light green, light orange, and light blue cabinets, with a countertop in the center displaying various bottles and jars, each filled with a colorful array of items.

Opposite the kitchen counter, against the wall, stood a light-colored wooden table with a small pot of blooming flowers on it. Four matching chairs were adorned with fluffy cushions. Near the door, a row of vibrant green bamboo grew inside a large wooden box. Outside the box was a small pool inlaid with colorful tiles. Surprisingly, small red and green fish and turtles swam around in it, their bodies supported by white pebbles of varying sizes—a truly beautiful sight.

As for the large windowsill and the flowing sheer curtains, Wu Feng had never seen anything like them on television. The light-colored composite flooring on the floor, however, went largely unnoticed.

Li Wei asked the two to wait while she went downstairs to get the ice cream she had specially made at noon from the refrigerator. It had been a while; it was probably frozen solid, but she'd have to make do with it.

Wu Feng felt as if she had stepped into a dream, and it took her a while to come to her senses. First, she looked at the various bottles and jars on the counter, all glass bottles of different colors and shapes. She picked up a round, light green one and examined it. Inside were unopened flower buds. She picked up another one; it was a small chrysanthemum, and then…

Although Luo Da thought the room was quite nice, being a teenager, he didn't pay much attention to it. He just squatted down to look at the colorful little fish and the green turtle with red eyes in the small pond, teasing it with his finger and finding it quite interesting.

Li Wei quickly brought up two leaf-shaped glass bowls. Luckily, Li Lin hadn't returned from her classmate's house, or she would have definitely devoured one of them.

She placed the two brightly colored banana splits, still emitting a cool breeze, and then took out three sparkly little spoons from the cupboard: "Come on, have some ice cream."

Looking at the two slightly different desserts, he asked Wu Feng, "Do you prefer the chocolate flavor or the strawberry flavor?"

Wu Feng looked at them and pointed to the pink one. Li Wei was relieved; she also liked the strawberry one. The chocolate sauce one was for Li Lianhui. Li Lianhui had gone out to play, which benefited Luo Da.

The three of them sat down at the table and started eating. Because the food was fresh from the refrigerator, it was quite hard, and they ate very slowly. As it gradually softened, a scene that left Li Wei speechless unfolded. Luo Da, who had initially been slowly eating a few spoonfuls, was now devouring the food like a whirlwind. He used that small spoon... somehow managing to scoop out huge chunks with each bite. Or perhaps he used it as a fork, skewering several pieces of fruit, and in no time at all, it was empty.

Li Wei glanced down at her and Wu Feng's portions, which were less than half-eaten, and tentatively asked Luo Da, "Is it good?" Was it so good that Luo Da had swallowed it whole?

Luo Da swallowed the last piece of banana: "It's alright...it's pretty good."

It feels a bit forced: "To be honest, is it good or not?"

Luo Da said somewhat awkwardly, "It's alright... but... it's a bit too sweet, a bit... disgusting."

"Then why are you eating so fast?" You really don't know what you're missing. It's so delicious, both icy and sweet.

The man seemed rather embarrassed: "No... well... I'm afraid if I eat too slowly I won't be able to finish it... It's not good to leave any leftovers."

Li Wei felt a bit discouraged. Her cooking skills were so good, it was such a waste to let him eat it. She should have saved it for her younger brother. No, wait, Luo Da probably has a problem with his taste buds, he's taste-blind!

As if to confirm her thoughts, Wu Feng stopped digging: "How could that be? I think it tastes pretty good. It's cool, sweet, and smooth. It's such a waste to let you eat it."

Li Wei nodded vigorously in agreement: "Xiao Feng, you're absolutely right. I don't realize now that boys are a different species from us. I'll definitely think of you whenever I have something delicious to eat." Girls really do have more in common.

That Luo Da is so hurtful and has such a bad tongue. He's just asking for trouble. He invited someone to eat and then disgusted them. How frustrating.
