The heart of the 304 elderly

The heart of the 304 elderly

Luo Lao and Luo Er both came back for dinner. To Li Wei's surprise, Luo Er brought along Wei Yan, a classmate who had been with him for several years.

Deep down, Li Wei didn't really like Wei Yan. This girl, well, she was indeed smart, quick-witted, and capable, but unfortunately, she lacked femininity and was more assertive. More importantly, Li Wei had also learned from the side that the eventual disbandment of Luo Er's little gang was not unrelated to Wei Yan.

While it's true that she has feelings for Luo Er and therefore tries to protect him and consider his interests, does that mean their years of friendship are worthless?

A husband with a virtuous wife will not do anything wrong outside the home, and vice versa.

Therefore, Li Wei felt that Wei Yan might be a good work partner, but not necessarily a good wife, and Luo Er was definitely not the kind of man who could stand behind his wife, especially since they were doing the same job.

But Wei Yan was truly flawless. As soon as she came in, she warmly grabbed Li Wei's hand: "Sister Xiaoming, your skin looks so good. Unlike me, who's exposed to the sun and rain all day long, no matter how much I take care of it, it's still rough. Oh my, Xiaoya is getting prettier and prettier! Come on, let's see what Auntie bought for you. See if you like it?"

Xiao Ya didn't look at anything, but first glanced at her mother, Li Wei, who shook her head almost imperceptibly. Xiao Ya said somewhat dejectedly, "Auntie, I can't eat candy, it will make my teeth rot and get cavities."

To avoid embarrassing Wei Yan, Li Wei quickly took the things from her: "Don't buy so much next time you come. They're just kids, don't always spoil them. It's hard on you to think about them all the time, haha." She then handed the bag of snacks to Aunt Gao to put away.

Li Wei never allowed the children to eat snacks, especially candies. But when Li Wei saw that Wei Yan had bought these, she realized they were all kinds of candies. Naturally, the items couldn't go to the children, so she gave them directly to Aunt Gao, who knew exactly what to do.

There are already a few elderly people who can't be offended who have been spoiled. Once that door is opened, it won't be so easy to control the child. No matter who it is, even if it is given by someone more influential, the treatment will be the same. For the sake of the child, Li Wei will not tolerate it no matter who it is.

Wei Yan, still all smiles and speaking in a cheerful voice, said, "Oh dear, it's all my fault for not thinking things through. It's better for children to eat less candy, hehe. Roy, do you still remember Aunt Wei?"

Wei Yan quickly became friends with the children.

Actually, to be fair, Wei Yan is quite attractive. She's slightly shorter than Li Wei, with a very voluptuous figure, a round face, a short chin, big eyes, and a small mouth. She rarely speaks or smiles, yet she's quite popular.

I heard it from Luo Er. Apparently, her parents are in business. It seems they're in the timber business, and she has a younger brother. They're quite well-off. Importantly, she and Luo Er were classmates in vocational school.

Eating with many people makes it more lively. After this period of training at kindergarten, the children are basically able to eat independently. Under the guidance of the "Farmers at Noon" teaching method, they also rarely spill food anymore.

Even if one of them falls, she'll immediately pick it up and eat it, leaving Li Wei both amused and exasperated.

So, there were no outsiders. The whole family sat down at the table to eat together. Old Luo was busy serving Luo Yi a piece of chicken and Xiao Ya a piece of rib, having a great time.

Li Wei couldn't stand it anymore: "Dad, you should eat first and let them make a fuss. The food will get cold soon."

Old Luo didn't care about any of that, and said with a smile, "No rush, no rush, hehehe, I'm full even if I don't eat, hahaha."

His doting affection was evident in his words.

Luo Er couldn't help but feel jealous: "Sister-in-law, don't worry about Dad. He never had time for us when we were little. Now he's finally found the joy of being an elder. Just let him have his fun."

Li Wei glared at him: "Just eat your food, stop being so sour. People say grandparents love their grandchildren more, but isn't it the same when your brother and I bring the kids home? Nobody cares about us anymore, everyone's eyes are on the kids, you're even more important than us."

Old Luo was overjoyed to see his three grandsons eating so cutely, like little puppies, that he ignored Luo Er and Li Wei's chatter and just grinned to himself.

Even Wei Yan couldn't help but say, "Sister Xiaoming, these three little ones are so cute! I love them so much, let alone Uncle Luo."

Li Wei smiled and added a small bowl of hot soup for each person. Aunt Gao was watching over the three children, so she didn't need to take care of them.

After dinner, Wei Yan sat for a while before saying goodbye. Luo Er drove her back to her apartment in the city.

Only then did she have a chance to speak privately with her father-in-law. The two sat down in a study on the first floor, and Old Luo spoke first: "You've seen it too, Xiao Er'er is already planning to marry this girl at the end of the year. To be honest, your mother and I have never really liked it. Xiao Er'er has such a wild temper, and this girl has a fiery temper. It seems like it would be easy for them to get along but difficult to live together. I've told Xiao Er'er before, but alas, sons grow up and are no longer under their fathers' control. It's no use talking to them."

Li Wei quickly comforted Lao Luo: "Dad, Xiao Er is not a child anymore. He knows what he's doing and what he's saying, so you don't need to worry about him too much. Besides, he's a man of his own mind. If you interfere too much, it might backfire. Let's just wait and see."

Old Luo sighed: "Back then, when your parents went through so much trouble with Jianhua, I didn't really care. But now I see how difficult it was for your in-laws. Jianhua was such a scoundrel back then, let alone a good girl like you, even those shady girls would have been lucky to marry him. Now, I'm starting to see some of the girl's flaws, and I realize she's not suitable for my son. I always thought my son was great, but thankfully I made a mistake, haha."

Li Wei didn't say that. Back then, if it weren't for Lao Luo, her relationship with Da Luo would have been very difficult. At the very least, it wouldn't have gone so smoothly, and she wouldn't have suffered any disdain from either of the two families.

After a moment of reflection, Lao Luo got down to business: "I talked with Shen Tao for a long time today. His idea is to let Xiao Er work with him for a while. He's afraid that going out directly might be too risky, as Xiao Er is a greenhorn and a newcomer. We had the same concerns. I talked to Xiao Er about it, and he's become quite sensible now. He's willing to start from scratch and has no objections."

Li Wei thought for a moment and then said, "Dad, I talked to the person in charge at Minglang today, including my aunt. We might get together soon to discuss developing potential within the province and see if we can set up a new company. If it works out, it would be a great opportunity for me to start from scratch and gain some management experience. That system is probably all from Minglang, and it's quite advanced. It would be good to broaden my horizons."

Old Luo's eyes lit up immediately: "Is that the place your cousin invited us to last time?"

Li Wei nodded: "It's just a preliminary intention. There's still a lot of work to be done. Whether it will work out in the end is still uncertain. Dad, don't have too high expectations."

Old Luo was genuinely happy and said cheerfully, "Not at all. As long as you and Minglang agree to the research, there's a chance. Looking across the province, it's really hard to find anyone stronger than us. The main reason is that we're relatively low-key; otherwise, would your aunt and the others have stood out?"

The experience of working with Chen Juan back then and later starting his own business is a lifelong hidden pain for Lao Luo, which also makes him only able to maintain a superficial relationship with his cousin.

If we hadn't continued business dealings, we probably would have cut off all contact. After all, it wasn't serious enough to mean we'd never see each other again, and there was no need to ruin our relationship.

But the resentment in one's heart is hard to erase.

Li Wei chatted with her father-in-law for a while longer. Seeing that Luo Er hadn't returned, she stopped waiting for him and arranged for her father-in-law to go to bed. It was obvious that Luo Er wasn't very happy.

The three children were all tired from playing and fell asleep. Seeing that there was nothing else to do, Li Wei went upstairs to rest as well.

I had just come out of the shower when I heard the phone ringing incessantly in the bedroom. I rushed over to answer it, and it was Da Luo calling back. The environment was quite noisy, but Da Luo's voice seemed to travel through the distance, very clear and hoarse.

Li Wei only heard one sentence before tears streamed down her face. She wanted to say something but couldn't open her mouth, so she could only listen to Da Luo talking on the other end: "Wife, how's everything at home? Are you alright? I'll be back in a year at most. Have you missed me?"

I have no idea what Li Wei said in the end. She had a lot to say, but I only remember one sentence: "Be careful and come back safely."

She had planned to rest early, but she couldn't sleep. She kept thinking about the noisy sounds over there, wondering what kind of complicated environment Da Luo could be in. This reminded her of a movie, a movie she really didn't want to associate with Da Luo, 'Infernal Affairs'.

The more I think about it, the more worried I get. With Da Luo's character, he looks like someone involved in organized crime. How could the leaders not see that? He's young, and if he were to tidy himself up, he would look like a delinquent. Although he's not exactly a good person, he hasn't done anything really bad.

Li Wei spent the whole night lost in thought, only managing to doze off briefly in the early hours of the morning. When the alarm clock woke her up, her eyes were sore and her mind was foggy. After thinking for a moment, she decided that it was better not to read the book at all, since reading it would just make her money anyway. She decided to ask for leave again.

It seems she was really confused. Not long after, Xu Ting called to say she was coming over for lunch, which reminded her that it was the weekend.

No wonder Aunt Gao didn't ask her to send her child to kindergarten.

Li Wei didn't get up until after eight o'clock. She was still feeling unwell, but with her father-in-law around, she couldn't stay in bed all the time.

I washed my face carefully, applied some eye cream to soothe my eyelids, and put on light makeup, so that it was basically impossible to tell anything.

After getting ready, they went downstairs. Old Luo was happily playing with his three grandsons in the garden on the first floor when Aunt Gao called out for dinner, and they all came in.

Li Wei felt a little guilty. She should have struggled to come down earlier. Everyone, young and old, was waiting for her to eat. What a mess this was!

Aunt Gao had spent a lot of time with Li Wei and knew what Li Wei was thinking: "I've been preparing dinner for you for a while now, but you said you weren't hungry. You just came back from your walk. Let's eat. You didn't sleep well last night, did you?"

Li Wei nodded, helped set out the bowls and chopsticks, and invited the four of them, young and old, to eat breakfast.
