Three hundred and seventeen younger brothers
Li Wei felt uncomfortable and sat in the car for a long time before finally getting up and going home.
After quietly finishing my lunch, I went upstairs and lay in the bathtub filled with just the right amount of warm water. My whole body felt relaxed, but my heart was aching.
Thinking back to the first time I met Xu Ting, she seemed like such a vibrant and innocent girl. How could she suddenly become such a different person?
Although she didn't want to think about it, Li Wei had to admit that there were actually many signs to follow, but she hadn't paid attention to them or thought about them deeply enough.
Originally, she was actually an extremely vain woman, but I only saw her cute side.
Li Wei had once thought that with the Li family's resources and her younger brother's promising future, they should be able to live a good life together.
But today, seeing the man who came to pick up Xu Ting, he was clearly from the same social class as Liao Kaiwen, or from the same background. Whether it was his economic strength, his love of food and entertainment, or even his prowess in picking up women, he was quite skilled. Not to mention Xu Ting, even someone more outstanding than Xu Ting might not be able to resist him.
The more Li Wei thought about it, the more her heart ached. She didn't know if it was because of Xu Ting, her younger brother, or both. So she climbed out of the bathtub, dried herself off haphazardly, changed into her outdoor clothes, grabbed her car keys, and headed straight for Li Lianhui's school.
Li Lianhui's coursework is less demanding now, and apart from his internship, he spends most of his time in their small studio.
Li Wei arrived at the breakfast stall first and went straight to the second floor. There were two classmates there, fiddling with some components around the table and discussing something. Li Wei got a headache just looking at these kinds of things. She was confused even when changing a light bulb and had no interest in mechanical things.
The two boys were clearly too engrossed in their work to notice Li Wei's arrival. Li Wei took the opportunity to look around the room, which was several dozen square meters in size; it was more like a large workshop than an office.
Only a few partitions were placed in one corner of the room. There were two or three desks, their surfaces littered with computer components. The rest of the room was cluttered with several computers, their towers and monitors mostly disassembled, lying askew and crookedly, all taken apart. Not a single one was intact.
Li Wei glanced at them and lost interest. She went straight to the two classmates and said, "Excuse me. Isn't Li Lianhui here?"
Li Lin didn't know them. They all knew Li Wei. Li Lianhui was a major shareholder in the company. The computers were so expensive; it was said that most of the investment came from Li Lianhui's sister. His family didn't support him.
It made a bunch of guys incredibly envious; having such a wonderful older sister is truly a blessing.
One of the men, wearing glasses, recognized Li Wei immediately and stood up: "Ah, it's Sister Li Wei. Lian Hui came last night. He went out this morning to buy some parts. He should be back by now. He's probably in the dorm, right?"
Li Wei said goodbye to the two boys and went straight to Li Lianhui's dormitory at the university.
To be honest, if it weren't for something else, Li Wei really wouldn't like going to Li Lianhui's boys' dormitory. The smell was unforgettable. Fortunately, Li Lianhui didn't stay there often before, only two or three times a week. He mostly stayed at her house or lived with Shen Tao and the others.
Li Lianhui was indeed in the dormitory, sitting there with a large lunchbox, eating and talking with several classmates, including two girls, but Xu Ting was not among them.
As soon as Li Wei arrived, the boys, who all knew her from the dorm, quickly made room for her on a relatively tidy lower bunk.
Li Wei glanced at them and forced a smile, saying, "If you're free tonight, I'll treat you to dinner. Oh, and if you have girlfriends, bring them along too. You've been with Xiao Hui for several years now, and I've only met a few of them. If any of you stay in the provincial capital, you can keep in touch. If you go back to your hometown, I guess you won't have many chances to meet."
Li Wei sat for a while, only chatting for a few minutes and not saying much. Seeing that Li Lianhui still seemed carefree, she sighed inwardly. Before leaving, Li Lianhui saw her off.
The two arrived at the flowerbed opposite the dormitory. There were few people around. Li Lianhui stopped and said in a low voice, "Sis, don't worry. I roughly know what happened. I'm not as fragile as you think. Actually, I was mentally prepared. There are many things you don't know. Rome wasn't built in a day. Don't worry, I'm busy right now. I don't have time to be sentimental. Besides, there's no need for that."
After listening to Li Lianhui's words, Li Wei suddenly realized that perhaps, compared with the people around her, she was really a bit foolish. They were all much more sensible and carefree than she was.
Sigh, it's true, once you're in charge, you get used to worrying too.
That evening, Li Lianhui called Li Wei, saying that they were busy with work at their studio and that she didn't need to come over for dinner, as it would interfere with their work. This angered Li Wei.
I've really become a troublemaker.
However, Li Wei felt it was better to go and take a look. Li Lianhui had forced her to smile and act strong, and maybe Xu Ting had gone to talk to him, and she was afraid Xu Ting would see her upset.
So Li Wei went out and found a nicer restaurant, bought more than ten dishes, packed them up, and headed straight to Li Lianhui's small company.
The company was quite well-attended today, mostly consisting of Li Lianhui's like-minded colleagues, and two classmates as well. One of them, a student, is supposedly in charge of internal and external liaison. Aside from her, who's usually responsible for miscellaneous tasks, the rest are all technical staff.
Li Wei chuckled inwardly; it was still a technology-driven company.
None of them had eaten dinner yet, and the food that Li Wei brought was very popular. The girl named Zhu Xiaomei quickly cleared out a table.
A group of seven or eight people sat around the table and ate their dinner. There weren't enough seats, so most of them were standing. They were probably really hungry, as they wolfed down their food and ate with great relish. Li Wei, watching them, also felt a bit hungry and ate a steamed bun along with them.
Because Li Lianhui and the others still had work to do, Li Wei helped Zhu Xiaomei pack her things. Zhu Xiaomei kept saying it wasn't necessary, and looked at Li Wei's clothes, which were clearly made of good material, and felt a little embarrassed.
Li Wei smiled and said, "We've got nothing better to do. By the way, what are they doing tinkering with computers? It looks like they're working on hardware?"
Li Wei only knows how to use office software, which is from the Windows XP era. She's really not into modern computers; they're too much trouble to use.
Zhu Xiaomei's strengths were clearly not in this area. As she and Li Wei went downstairs to throw out the trash, she said, "I don't really understand the specifics. I only know that they said they would buy parts and assemble it themselves. But there are also a few people who are tinkering with software with Li Lianhui. They say they want to make some kind of voice recognition system. I only know that it's for buses. I don't really understand the specifics. I studied chemical engineering, and now I'm acting as their nanny. I take care of everything except the technical stuff, haha."
Li Wei nodded, thought about it, and realized that this seemed like a very lucrative business with great potential. Should she get involved?
Li Wei was calculating something when she ran into Xu Ting, who was going upstairs, at a breakfast stall on the first floor. The two of them were both taken aback. Li Wei nodded and continued out with Zhu Xiaomei, who was greeting Xu Ting warmly.
Zhu Xiaomei, unaware of the situation, said to Li Wei with longing, "Your teachers' college has so many beauties! I heard Li Lianhui's girlfriend is your classmate. Ah, that's great. If I had gone to your school, I might have benefited from it and become a beauty myself. But at our university, the beauties have all turned into tomboys, each one more fierce than the last, not gentle at all."
Li Wei was amused by her tone: "It's not that exaggerated. There are fewer girls in you, so you should be the center of attention. Girls are so precious. You should feel happy. At least when you're doing chores or cleaning, you'll have an advantage."
Zhu Xiaomei nodded: "That's true. There are quite a few girls in my class, only more than ten. The mechanical design class next door only has five girls. When they are working, they are basically in a leisure state. The boys treat them like treasures. You don't know, they are all ugly. They are really hard to look at. But they have the right time, place and people."
Li Wei was laughing so hard she couldn't stop; Zhu Xiaomei was truly a fascinating person.
Since Xu Ting had arrived, Li Wei didn't go upstairs with Zhu Xiaomei. Instead, she got into her car, turned on some light music, and waited for Xu Ting to come out.
After waiting for a while, Xu Ting didn't come out. Someone knocked on her car window, and Li Wei quickly rolled it down. It was a man outside, seemingly the one who was supposed to pick up Xu Ting. Li Wei snapped, "What are you knocking for? If you have something to say, say it already! Don't make conversation!"
"Hehe, you've got quite a temper. Looks like you have no recollection of it at all. We've met before, have you forgotten?" The man seemed to have a good temper, his eyes sparkling with desire.
He looked somewhat familiar, but she figured all playboys were like that, so Li Wei wasn't in the mood to talk to him: "Is there anything else? No..." Li Wei was about to press the window button.
The man quickly put a hand on the glass: "No, no, that time was just that time. You made a face at me, and I wanted to invite you to dinner, but of course you refused. It's a real shame I couldn't."
Li Wei: "Oh, I don't remember. Please take your hand away, or I'll scream for a robbery."
Taking advantage of the moment when the guy was startled and withdrew his hand, Li Wei quickly rolled up the car window, lay down, and ignored everything outside.
When he mentioned it, Li Wei remembered. It seemed she really did have a bad memory; before, when she didn't dislike him, she even thought he was good-looking.
Now, after seeing him pick up Xu Ting at the school gate at noon, I suddenly realized that he's not actually a very good person anymore -_-
Although this person is indeed not very good.
No wonder people say that women are emotional creatures.
