Chapter 912: The Lamp is Running Out of Oil

Zhou Luancheng closed his eyes. He understood what Zhou Shixun said, but when he thought of Mu Xiaowan, lifeless and lying by the lake like a rag doll, he couldn't calm down.

He never thought that one day Mu Xiaowan would leave him.

He has become accustomed to the days when Mu Xiaowan would be behind him as soon as he turned around.

Time passed very slowly, as if it was standing still second by second. Finally, it was twelve o'clock. Firecrackers could be heard outside and people were busy bidding farewell to the old and welcoming the new.

The doctor just came out of the emergency room.

Zhou Luancheng walked over quickly: "How is she? How is my girlfriend?"

She clenched her hands into fists and stared at the doctor's glasses, her lips trembling as she spoke, afraid that he would say something bad.

The doctor was silent for a moment: "The patient is breathing now, but there is no sign of waking up."

He had never seen such a case.

Zhou Luancheng felt a little relieved when he heard her breathing: "Let's take her back to Beijing now. Can she withstand the long-distance flight?"

The doctor shook his head: "The patient is in a very fragile state right now. I'm afraid she won't be able to handle the long flight. However, we have limited medical equipment here. It would be better if she could return to Beijing for further examination."

Although he did not recommend it, the conditions in Beijing were indeed better.

Zhou Shixun patted Zhou Luancheng on the shoulder and said, "Go see Xiao Wan first. I'll go discuss this with the two doctors who came with us."

Zhou Luancheng nodded, asked the doctor if he could go in, and then walked into the emergency room with heavy steps.

Mu Xiaowan lay quietly on the bed, wearing a ventilator. She looked peaceful, as if she was asleep, but her face was pale and ugly.

It gives people a sense of fragmentation, as if this person will disappear in the blink of an eye.

Zhou Luancheng didn't dare to blink, or even move forward, for fear that any noise would alarm Mu Xiaowan and she would disappear.

He was stunned for more than ten seconds before slowly walking towards the bed.

He walked to the bedside, slowly squatted down, held Mu Xiaowan's slender, almost transparent hand, and tried to speak several times, but was unable to make a sound because of sobbing.

He held Mu Xiaowan's hand tightly against his cheek, and tears fell on the back of her hand.

"Xiao Wan, don't scare me..."

"It's my fault for ignoring you for too long, so are you punishing me?"

"Xiao Wan, you can get up after sleeping for a while and then we can go home, okay?"

His voice was choked and hoarse, and he spoke incoherently.

But **Mu Xiaowan didn't make any movement.

The two doctors who came with Zhou Shixun also came to the ward to see Mu Xiaowan. They felt that it was necessary to return to Beijing immediately. They always felt that Mu Xiaowan was not only suffocated by falling into the water, but there might be other problems. If she was not taken back for examination as soon as possible, her life would be in danger.

Zhou Shixun also did some ideological work on Zhou Luancheng. The doctor had also told him privately before that he should not be too optimistic and should be prepared for his funeral at any time.

However, he didn’t tell Zhou Luancheng this for the time being and decided to take Mu Xiaowan back to Beijing first.

Early in the morning on the first day of the New Year, the plane took off from southern Yunnan and flew to Beijing.

Zhou Luancheng had been sitting next to Mu Xiaowan, looking at her without blinking, and said to Zhou Shixun with a somewhat hollow voice: "Brother, I have always been really selfish, saying that I am busy and always asking Xiaowan to understand more. My sister-in-law often told me that relationships should be managed well and Xiaowan should not be neglected."

"But Xiao Wan told me to stay busy and that she would be waiting for me at home. As long as I could get home safely, that would be all that mattered. How selfish I was. I really listened to her."

"Brother, there is something I haven't told you. I have been seeing a psychiatrist. I have a mental illness and I can't eat. Whenever I see food, bloody images always flash through my mind. It hasn't gotten better until now. But when I see Xiao Wan, I forget all these things and can eat like a normal person. I can eat a lot."

"So, I need her more and rely on her more, but I always ignore her."

Zhou Shixun didn't say anything and didn't want to talk. Anyway, he had advised Zhou Luancheng before.

Zhou Luancheng's eyes were bloodshot, and he held Mu Xiaowan's hand all the way to Beijing.

The plane stayed in southern Hunan for a few hours to refuel and replenish supplies before taking off again. It was already past eight o'clock in the evening when it arrived in Beijing.

Sheng An Ning couldn't eat that day. The family sat on the sofa waiting for news, not even taking care of the children. Wang Da and Cheng Mingzhong were helping to look after the children, cooking for them, and constantly urging everyone to eat a bite.

Wang Da cooked some porridge: "An Ning, Sister Hong Yun, you should eat something. You can't wait for Xiao Wan to come back, or your bodies will collapse. You need to eat enough so that you have the strength to take care of Xiao Wan."

"Besides, Xiao Wan looks like a lucky kid. She will definitely make it through this."

It is really hard to accept that such a thing happened during the Chinese New Year.

Sheng An Ning shook her head. She couldn't swallow a single bite. She thought of many possibilities, but she didn't believe that Mu Xiaowan would get into trouble after falling into the water. Not only could she swim, but she was also a very good swimmer.

Mu Xiaowan once boasted that she had been swimming in Houhai since she was a child.

Therefore, Sheng An Ning has been wondering, why has Mu Xiaowan always had something wrong with her body? Is it because of this fall into the water that all the lesions have been activated?

The more she thought about it, the more worried she became, because these things involved areas she didn't understand, and she was afraid that she wouldn't be able to save Mu Xiaowan.

At around eight o'clock in the evening, someone came to inform Zhou Nanguang and Zhou Shuanglu that the plane had arrived at Nanyuan Airport and the patient was sent directly to the hospital.

He came to take Zhou Nanguang to the hospital.

Sheng Anning also wanted to go to the hospital. She stood up without bothering to put on her coat: "Dad, I'll go with you."

Wang Da knew that Sheng An Ning was thinking about Mu Xiao Wan, so he quickly went to get Sheng An Ning's cotton coat and put it on her: "An Ning, go ahead. Your uncle and I will stay at home to look after the children."

The three little guys were very quiet at this moment. They were smart and knew that something must have happened at home. Their mother, grandpa and aunt were all very sad, so they had to be obedient.

I watched my mother go out without making any noise.

Sheng An Ning was sitting in the car, her heart was in a knot. She didn't know what Mu Xiaowan's situation was like. Because she was so worried, she felt cold all over and was shaking and shivering.

Zhou Nanguang sat in the passenger seat, looked back at Sheng Anning in the back seat, thought for a moment and said, "Anning, you have to be mentally prepared. We will do our best to save Xiaowan."

Sheng Anning knew that Zhou Nanguang's implication was that she should also be mentally prepared that Xiao Wanhui could not be saved.

She was a doctor and had seen many lives and deaths, but she still couldn't accept the fact that Mu Xiaowan was gone. She pursed her lips and stared out the window without saying a word. She tried hard to keep her eyes open wide to prevent tears from falling.

When they arrived at the hospital, Zhou Shixun, Zhou Luancheng and others had just arrived. Before Sheng Anning had time to take a closer look at Mu Xiaowan, she was pushed into the emergency room.

During this journey, Mu Xiaowan's body seemed to be running out of fuel, and she was about to die...
