Chapter 26 A Heartfelt Confession

But we've already reached the old man's door; he might have heard the commotion. It would be disrespectful to go eat now.

Moreover, Mo Han must be worried about the old man, so he might as well finish watching before eating, so he can eat with peace of mind.

Ye Mohan's smile deepened. His wife always thought of him, yet never took credit for it.

Ye Mohan changed his posture from holding her to holding her hand and walked in. He saw that the old man had sat up with the help of the housekeeper and was drinking his porridge in an orderly manner.

Seeing the two of them come in, he smiled kindly and said, "You're here. Have you eaten?"

Seeing that his complexion had recovered well, Ye Mohan rolled her eyes at him and said, "Thanks to you, I'm starving."

A slight crack appeared on the old man's face as he said, embarrassed but politely, "You brat, how did you take care of Xue'er?"

The old man was very happy. He could tell that his grandson liked Jian Yixue very much. He thought that his grandson was able to get over it so quickly, and he couldn't help but like Jian Yixue even more.

Jian Yixue looked at the amusing grandfather and grandson in front of her and couldn't help but scoff: "Grandpa, don't listen to his nonsense. We've already seen you, so go down and eat."

Upon hearing Jian Yixue's address to him, Old Master Ye feigned anger: "Little Xue, what did you call me?"

Jian Yixue was taken aback and didn't understand what was going on for a long time.

Seeing her like this, Ye Mohan kindly reminded her, "Xue'er, you're already married to me, so what should you call my grandfather?"

Jian Yixue suddenly realized that in her previous life, she had only met Old Master Ye a few times, and since she didn't like to acknowledge her status as Ye Mohan's wife, she always called him Old Master Ye. Furthermore, after he became paralyzed and bedridden, she spent all her time thinking about leaving Ye Mohan, and she never saw him again.

This was the first time the daughter-in-law had met her in-laws, so she was a little nervous and slowly said, "Grandpa."

After shouting, she blushed and lowered her head.

Upon hearing this, Old Master Ye beamed with joy: "Ah~~~ You two must take good care of each other from now on and support each other on your journey together."

Then she gave the butler a wink, and the butler immediately understood and handed the red envelope he had prepared to Jian Yixue.

Jian Yixue blushed even more as she looked at the red envelope handed to her. She glanced at Ye Mohan, her eyes asking him if he should accept it.

Ye Mohan smiled and nodded.

Having received a response, Jian Yixue accepted the red envelope handed to her by Butler Jin and looked at Old Master Ye on the bed: "Thank you, Grandpa."

Grandpa Ye smiled and looked at Jian Yixue, then turned to Ye Mohan and said, "Mohan, take Xue'er to eat. After you finish eating, get some rest. I'm fine here."

Upon hearing this, Ye Mohan glanced at Old Master Ye, then led Jian Yixue out of the room.

Before leaving, Jian Yixue glanced at the old man and said, "Grandpa, you're fine. I can cure you."

Grandpa Ye nodded kindly, without saying anything.

He knew she was skilled in medicine, but he knew his physical condition very well. Even the world's top doctors were helpless, let alone a girl in her early twenties.

When the two arrived in the living room, they saw that all the dishes had been served on a large round table. As always, Ye Mohan settled Jian Yixue in first before slowly sitting down beside her.

As Jian Yixue looked at the dishes on the table, her expression grew increasingly solemn. Her brows furrowed and then relaxed, which explained why the old man had suddenly suffered a stroke and become paralyzed in bed in his previous life.

When Ye Mohan noticed that Jian Yixue hadn't touched her chopsticks for a long time, he looked at her and saw this scene. He asked with some doubt, "What's wrong? Is the food not to your liking?"

Jian Yixue shook her head, her expression serious. She leaned close to Ye Mohan's ear and whispered, "I suspect there's a spy in the house. Let's not alert them. Let's eat first, and I'll tell you all about it when we get back to the room."

Upon hearing this, Ye Mohan hummed in agreement, and a fierce look appeared on his face, which had previously been filled with righteous indignation.

Some of the hands seemed to have no desire for this place, reaching out here, their terrifying eyes scanning the surrounding servants, trying to find something.

The two quickly finished their meal. During the meal, Lin Yi also brought Ye Mohan some urgent work that needed to be done. After Ye Mohan sent Lin Yi away, the two got up and went back to their room.

Inside the room, Ye Mohan sat watching Jian Yixue, who had returned in deep thought, and asked, "Xue'er, did you find anything?"

Jian Yixue snapped out of her thoughts, a particularly serious expression appearing on her beautiful face. She asked earnestly, "Mo Han, have you noticed the food on the table?"

Hearing her words, Ye Mohan recalled the food on the table earlier but didn't notice anything unusual: "Is there something wrong?"

Jian Yixue could tell from his expression that he hadn't figured it out, but that was normal, since he wasn't a medical student.

Jian Yixue explained in detail: "Eating the food on the table individually is not a problem, but if you put them together, it will deplete your body's reserves over time, especially since Grandpa is getting old."

"In traditional Chinese medicine, foods have complementary and incompatible relationships, and there were many incompatible foods on the table just now. Grandpa doesn't have anyone with medical knowledge around him, so the other party took advantage of this loophole."

Upon hearing this, Ye Mohan roughly understood what was going on.

With a furrowed brow, it seemed that he had been too lenient lately, causing some people to forget past lessons.

Seeing Ye Mohan's expression, Jian Yixue knew he had a plan in mind. Fearing he would worry too much, she said, "But don't worry, I'm here. I won't let him succeed. I'll write down a recipe later, something to nourish the body. I'll give it to Butler Jin later so he can follow it. I guarantee you'll have a healthy and energetic grandfather again in a year."

Ye Mohan looked at Jian Yixue and smiled knowingly: "Yes, with Xue'er here, I feel at ease."

Jian Yixue nodded vigorously, but when she thought of the person hiding in the shadows, she still felt a little worried: "Mo Han, are you confident in dealing with that person hiding in the shadows?"

Upon hearing this, Ye Mohan raised an eyebrow and said jokingly, "Xue'er, are you doubting my abilities?"

"No way, how could I doubt your abilities? Everyone in the capital knows that Young Master Ye is exceptionally capable. There's nothing that can stump you," Jian Yixue quickly flattered.

Ye Mohan looked at the young woman in front of him. The way she praised him so much had a unique flavor, and he liked it very much.

Ye Mohan sat down on the edge of the bed, picked up Jian Yixue and put her on his lap. He held the woman tightly in his arms and murmured, "Xue'er, I've fallen for you. I've been alone all my life. From now on, you will accompany me on my journey."

"Now that you've entered my life, you're not allowed to escape my world. Otherwise, no matter where you are, even if you hate me, I will bring you back."
