During the game of chess, the old man's gaze would occasionally drift towards the direction of the house.
Ye Mohan knew what the old man was worried about, but as a junior, he couldn't say too much.
The old man suddenly snapped out of his reverie, looking somewhat embarrassed. "Sorry, I was daydreaming."
The old man glanced at the chessboard, sorted out his thoughts, made his move, and then looked towards the house.
Upon seeing this, Ye Mohan raised an eyebrow. "Grandpa, are you sure you won't regret this?"
The old man looked at Ye Mohan with great confusion, "What?"
Ye Mohan pointed to the chessboard, and only then did the old man turn his attention back to the chessboard.
You won't believe it until you see it, and what you find will shock you.
"No, no, I'll play again," the old man said, picking up the chess piece he had just placed.
Soon, they chose another spot to land.
"Are you sure?" Ye Mohan asked again.
The old man looked it over and, after confirming there were no problems, nodded.
Ye Mohan smiled without saying a word, picked up another chess piece and placed it down, saying calmly, "Grandpa, you're too kind."
The old man was astonished. "How could this be?" he exclaimed, and quickly began to analyze the situation.
After reading it, I was immediately filled with regret.
"That doesn't count, that doesn't count, let's start over," the old man said, trying to get away with it.
Ye Mohan smiled faintly. Since the game started, the old man had been absent-minded, his eyes constantly glancing into the room. It was only natural that he lost.
Just as Ye Mohan was about to refuse, he looked at the two people who came out and said to the old man, "They're out."
Just as the old man was feeling displeased, he heard Ye Mohan's words and immediately turned his head to look.
Seeing the smiling faces of the grandmother and grandson, my unease and fear gradually disappeared. The chess game no longer seemed so important.
She suddenly stood up and walked over, her face beaming with joy. "Xue'er, Xiuli, you're out."
He sounded somewhat nervous as he spoke.
He was still a little worried that the old lady would not want to talk to him. They had finally reunited before she died, and he didn't want anything to cause a rift between them.
However, he was having some difficulty making a decision regarding Dongfang Yelei.
The old lady indeed didn't pay much attention to the old man; in fact, she could be said to have ignored him.
Looking at the old lady with such childlike innocence, Jian Yixue knew how well the old man had protected her all these years.
That's why my grandmother, who is already in her sixties, still has such childlike innocence, which is truly enviable.
It's often said that the best marriage is one that has the joy of childhood, and it's certainly true.
"Grandma, you were just looking after Grandpa in the room, how come you're like this now..." Jian Yixue teased, trying to ease the awkward atmosphere.
"Xue'er, I didn't!"
Upon hearing this, the old lady interrupted Jian Yixue before she could finish speaking.
Jian Yixue smiled gently, "No? How come I..."
"No!" the old lady said firmly.
However, upon closer inspection, one can see her blushing and burning earlobes.
Jian Yixue understood that the old lady was shy. She exchanged a glance with the old man, who nodded in acknowledgment.
"Grandma, it's getting late, so we'll head back now. I'll come see you again when I have time."
The old lady looked at the completely dark sky, and although she was reluctant, she still nodded, after all, it was really late.
Jian Yixue then looked at Ye Mohan and said, "Mohan, let's go."
She looked up and found that Ye Mohan had appeared beside her at some point. After saying goodbye to the old man, the two left the Dongfang family.
...
The residential area on the west side of the Dongfang family compound.
"Crack..." The sound of porcelain shattering on the ground.
Immediately afterwards, an angry male voice rang out.
"What a terrible idea!"
The man on the ground was terrified and hurriedly said, "Master, it was my mistake. Please punish me."
He was terrified of Dongfang Yelei's ruthless methods, but there was nothing he could do. If he didn't accept the punishment, he would only suffer even greater consequences.
"Would punishing you be of any use? Would punishing you make Dongfang Yi lose his qualification as the young master? Would punishing you prevent me from going to that slum in Africa? If it were useful, I would kill you right now and feed you to the dogs!"
Dongfang Yelei said angrily.
The thought of spending a long time in that slum without getting a single penny made Dongfang Yelei furious.
Shenqiu was speechless after being rebuked.
At this point, the more you say, the more mistakes you'll make; it's better to keep quiet.
Dongfang Yelei suddenly seemed to find something and asked, "Did those two leave?"
Shen Qiu was taken aback, then understood. "I'll have someone investigate right away."
Dongfang Yelei frowned, tacitly agreeing with Shenqiu's actions.
Before long, Shenqiu returned.
"How is it?" Dongfang Yelei asked in a gloomy tone from his seat.
"Reporting to Master, those two are still with the old man," Shenqiu replied truthfully.
Dongfang Yelei squinted and said, "Send someone to keep an eye on them. When they leave, teach them a lesson."
They dared to let him fall so hard; do they really think he's just a decoration?
If we don't teach them a lesson, they really don't know their own limitations. Daring to go against us is simply courting death!
He couldn't do anything to Dongfang Yi and his group, nor could he do anything to outsiders!
Shenqiu replied, "Yes, Master." Then he left the room to make the arrangements.
As darkness fell, he still hadn't heard from the two men that they had left. Just as he was about to call Shen Qiu in to question him about what had happened,
Before he could speak, the door was suddenly pushed open from the outside.
Dongfang Yi led Chen Ran in, his face showing a displeased expression.
