I know a bit about my little cousin Tang Xiaoxiao. She's very proud and cares more about her reputation than her parents. She likes to fight for what she wants instead of always trying to get something from others without working for it.
Perhaps this is the only gift that higher education gave her.
The reason she blurted out that question during dinner was probably because she was momentarily blinded by the luxury of the villa and didn't know much about the situation back home. She was convinced that it was something left by Grandpa Tang, so her family should rightfully get half of it, which is why she impulsively asked the question.
Tang Qianqian remained silent throughout the ensuing farce. Even when Tang Xiaoxiao openly mocked Tang Yuanxu, neither she nor Cui Hua spoke. Tang Qianqian probably understood that her family borrowed money because they needed something from others; it was a favor if they were willing to lend, and it was their right not to.
After the two families fell out in her previous life, Tang Xiaoxiao never saw her cousin again. She only heard about her from others. Tang Xiaoxiao was a bit cold-hearted. If her second uncle's family did something wrong, she would do the same. It was better to have no contact with them at all. She just pretended that there was no such relative at all.
After driving Tang Yuanxu's family away, Tang's father's expression was still somewhat unpleasant. Tang Xiaoxiao also knew that she had overstepped her bounds tonight, and she wondered if her father would blame her.
Even if she had to do it all over again, she would still stand up for herself. She simply couldn't stand people yelling at her parents, not even if the King of Heaven himself came.
The family returned to the living room, where Tang Xiaoxiao served tea with a playful smile. She massaged her father's shoulders and back, coaxing him for a while before he finally sighed and said, "You're a girl, don't be so sharp-tongued. You should be more restrained when you're out in the world. The nail that sticks out gets hammered down. Being so impulsive will only lead to trouble."
He took a sip of tea and continued, "Your mother and I are both here. What makes you think you can stand up for us? Your parents have lived a long life and have eaten more salt than you have eaten rice. Do you think we'd let anyone bully us? Who gave you the right to speak up for us, you little girl? What will people say about you if word gets out? Don't you care about your reputation as a young lady?!"
Tang Xiaoxiao hugged her father's neck and put her other arm around her mother, laughing, "I was just worried that you'd get sick from all the anger! I was just trying to get rid of them as soon as possible. Today is my birthday, and my mood has been ruined. Okay, okay, I promise I won't do this again. You'll take care of everything. I'll be a freeloader for life, sponging off you and then my sister, okay?"
Upon hearing this, Mr. and Mrs. Tang's faces finally brightened and they smiled. Xuanxuan, hugging the cat, exclaimed loudly, "Auntie can nibble on me too!"
"Oh my daughter, are you silly!" Tang Xinxin couldn't help but chuckle as she ruffled her daughter's fluffy head.
The family burst into laughter, and their somewhat gloomy mood, which had been dampened by Tang Yuanxu and his family of three, finally lifted.
Everyone stayed in the villa that night. When Tang Xiaoxiao designed it, she reserved two large suites for her family on the third floor. Each suite had two double beds and a private bathroom. The decoration was simple and elegant, and all the necessary amenities were provided.
Although Xiaoxiao and Qiqi also live on the third floor, they are very well-behaved and never make any noise at night to disturb everyone's sleep. The new German Shepherd, Black Panther, is also very intelligent. With Tang Xiaoxiao's constant feeding with her spiritual spring water, he was able to understand some of Tang Xiaoxiao's simple commands in just a few days.
Tang's parents shared one room, while Tang Xinxin and Xuanxuan shared another. After everyone went into their rooms to wash up and rest, Tang Xiaoxiao turned off the lights in the living room, picked up the little black leopard, and Xiaoxiao and Qiqi obediently followed at her feet. The group of master and pets returned to their own bedrooms.
