Han Yunqi couldn't find a chance to be alone with Tang Xiaoxiao. There were always people around. Apart from greeting Tang Xiaoxiao when he got out of the car, the two of them barely interacted. Tang Xiaoxiao was constantly busy, and he wanted to help but didn't know where to start, so he could only worry helplessly.
Han Yunqi couldn't help but feel a little uneasy.
When she invited him over before, he thought it was an implication that things might take things further, right? But now it seems like that's not the case at all...
So, was he just imagining things?
Several hours passed with this unease until the afternoon when Tang Xiaoxiao finally had some free time to talk to him.
"Let's go for a walk," Tang Xiaoxiao suggested.
"Okay." Han Yunqi had no objection and followed closely behind her.
After leaving the courtyard and turning right, a small river comes into view after walking for about ten minutes. Although pollution is severe everywhere now, and the river water is no longer as clear as Tang Xiaoxiao remembered from her childhood, it is still much better than the almost dried-up river in the town.
The two walked slowly along the riverbank. The village of Houtang was quite green, with a large grove of trees along the riverbank. It was a bit gloomy today, but the sunlight occasionally shone through the clouds, making it feel quite comfortable.
Tang Xiaoxiao didn't speak, and Han Yunqi remained silent as well. The two walked for quite a while without saying a word, and Tang Xiaoxiao led Han Yunqi across the log bridge over the river. After walking for a while, they arrived at her planting base.
This was Han Yunqi's first time visiting this place. He saw a neat and orderly greenhouse. Tang Xiaoxiao led him directly into the area where tropical fruits were grown. There were bananas, mangoes, papayas, dragon fruit and so on. The fruit trees of different heights were full of fruit, as if he had entered a magical tropical rainforest.
Tang Xiaoxiao picked a ripe red dragon fruit. Without any tools, she simply peeled off the skin to reveal the deep purple flesh and handed it to Han Yunqi, indicating that he should try it.
Han Yunqi took the fruit and took a bite. It was sweet and fragrant. Although he didn't like eating fruit, his mother often bought it, and he would occasionally be forced to eat a bite. Dragon fruit was a nutritious fruit, but it was really tasteless and not sweet enough. He didn't like it at all.
It's far inferior to the one I have here.
As expected of the person he likes, everything they grow is different from others...
Tang Xiaoxiao was unaware of his foolish thoughts. Seeing that he had finished a fruit in a few bites, with juice inevitably getting on his hands and his lips a little red, she reached into her coat pocket, took out a pack of tissues, and handed them to him.
Han Yunqi took it and wiped his mouth and hands somewhat embarrassedly, when Tang Xiaoxiao asked, "Is it good?"
"It's delicious, much sweeter than what you buy outside." This was a sincere statement.
Tang Xiaoxiao smiled and said nothing. The two left the tropical fruit greenhouse and then went to the flower base. As soon as they got close, they were greeted by a wonderful fragrance and saw a field of blooming flowers swaying gracefully.
However, although the flowers were beautiful, Han Yunqi, a grown man, didn't quite know how to appreciate them. He only felt that Tang Xiaoxiao, standing in the sea of flowers, was more beautiful than all the flowers in the garden.
Tang Xiaoxiao seemed to have sensed his thoughts, and a faint smile appeared on her face as she asked, "Do you like it here?"
"I like it, of course I like it," Han Yunqi blurted out.
What he really wanted to say was, "Wherever you are, that's where I like to be."
"If you were asked to stay here for the rest of your life, would you be willing?" Tang Xiaoxiao suddenly asked.
