From a worldly perspective, Tang Yuanshan is a complete scumbag.
As a child, Tang Xiaoxiao heard many stories about this uncle from adults, and combined with her own judgment as she grew older, she had a very poor impression of Tang Yuanshan. However, this seemingly useless man was incredibly devoted to Tang's father. According to Tang's father, when Tang Yuanshan was in his twenties, he lost a lot of money gambling. His creditors came knocking, threatening to cripple his hand. He begged and pleaded with everyone he knew, but no one would lend him money. After all, he was a notorious troublemaker in the area, and lending him money would be like throwing it away; nobody wanted to be taken advantage of. Finally, Tang's father took pity on him, remembering the friendship between their families and their childhood bond, and paid off his debts. Tang Yuanshan immediately knelt down and kowtowed to Tang's father, vowing that from then on, Tang's father would be his own brother.
No one in the Tang family took Tang Yuanshan's gratitude seriously, and in fact, he proved to be utterly useless. Even in his previous life, when Tang Xiaoxiao was reborn, Tang Yuanshan was still an idle old bachelor. However, after that incident, Tang Yuanshan would eagerly send anything of value to the Tang family. Especially in the second year after Tang Xiaoxiao's marriage, when Tang's father suddenly fell ill in the middle of the night and Tang's mother was at her wits' end, Tang Yuanshan, who had just returned home from a gambling den, happened to pass by. Seeing that the Tang family's house was still brightly lit at 1 a.m., he curiously knocked on the door and promptly called an ambulance to take Tang's father to the city hospital for emergency treatment.
At the time, Tang Xiaoxiao and her sister Tang Xinxin were out of town. When they heard the doctor later say that it was fortunate they were brought in in time, otherwise things might have been very different if they had been half an hour later, Tang Xiaoxiao broke out in a cold sweat. She couldn't imagine what would have happened to her mother and children if her father hadn't received timely medical attention.
After this incident, Tang Xiaoxiao treated Tang Yuanshan as an elder in her family, always bringing him and his younger sisters a pile of gifts whenever she visited her parents. Regardless of how others perceived him, he had undeniably saved her father's life.
Now reborn, Tang Yuanshan is at his lowest point. His four daughters are ranging from seventeen to barely walking. Even as an irresponsible father, he can't completely neglect his own daughters. He has no stable income and is struggling to make ends meet. Therefore, when Tang Xiaoxiao wanted to hire someone to oversee the work, he was the first person she thought of.
When Tang Xiaoxiao came to her door, Tang Yuanshan was sitting cross-legged on the bed with a small kang table in front of him. On the table were a plate of peanuts and a plate of cucumber salad. Tang Yuanshan was enjoying himself, taking a sip of wine and a bite of the snacks.
On another small bed in the room, a dirty little girl was playing by herself, clutching a rag doll whose original color was no longer discernible.
Upon learning Tang Xiaoxiao's purpose, Tang Yuanshan patted his chest loudly: "Second niece, don't worry, leave it to your uncle. I guarantee I'll get the job done efficiently. Anyone who dares to slack off will be dealt with by me!"
As he spoke, he burped, and a strong smell of alcohol wafted over.
Tang Xiaoxiao stiffly tugged at the corners of her mouth, turned her head away and coughed twice without making a sound, and then smiled and said, "Uncle Yuanshan, I can definitely trust you to handle things. Those workers are all from the same village, not outsiders. You just need to be responsible for arranging the workers and following up on the progress."
Tang Yuanshan reached out and patted Tang Xiaoxiao on the shoulder, solemnly saying, "Although your uncle isn't very capable, you can rest assured that this matter is in my hands."
Tang Xiaoxiao remained noncommittal about his assurances. Besides the bond from their past life, the main reason she chose him was because, although Tang Yuanshan was a scoundrel, he would wholeheartedly fulfill any promise he made.
She didn't stay long. After the matter was settled, Tang Xiaoxiao left two large bags of snacks she had bought for the little girl and then left.
