Chapter One: Rebirth

In the few days since her rebirth, Tang Xiaoxiao has confirmed that she can freely bring things in and out of her spatial dimension, and even tried drinking some spring water. However, she didn't experience the miraculous effects of cleansing her marrow as described in novels. After drinking it, she only found it sweet and pleasant to the taste, without any particular reaction. However, the spring water seemed to have a detoxifying function; Tang Xiaoxiao noticed that her urine was particularly dark these past few days, and her baths seemed to be dirtier.

Now that she has accepted the facts and calmed down completely, Tang Xiaoxiao has begun to think about what to do next.

Two days until graduation, and then she'll be leaving the city she's lived in for almost four years. She remembers packing her bags to go home in her past life; her parents drove over 500 kilometers to pick her up from school. But what did she do? Soon after arriving home, she complained about the stuffiness and her parents' nagging, and used the excuse of looking for a job to run off to another city, rarely calling home. She wasn't grounded in her work, constantly changing jobs, and eventually married someone from far away, only returning home twice a year after marriage.

Tang's mother was thirty-seven years old when she gave birth to Tang Xiaoxiao. Tang's father was two years older than her. By the time Tang Xiaoxiao got married at twenty-five, both her parents were over sixty and in poor health. Tang's mother suffered from severe rheumatism, and her legs became increasingly weak with age. In the second year of Tang Xiaoxiao's marriage, Tang's father suddenly fainted one night and was diagnosed with a blood clot. He was eventually saved through surgery, but his health deteriorated day by day.

At that time, Tang Xiaoxiao's married life was not happy. Her husband treated her well, and the two had a foundation of love from their free choice. However, her mother-in-law was not an easy person to get along with, and there were constant conflicts in the family. Her husband was not very capable and was caught in the middle between his mother and wife. In particular, the two were not in a hurry to have children after marriage. Even when Tang Xiaoxiao was reborn, they still had no intention of trying to conceive, which made her mother-in-law even more difficult. At that time, Tang Xiaoxiao had almost reached the limit of her tolerance for her mother-in-law's fault-finding. The couple was already discussing taking out a loan to buy a small house and live independently. Their family life was in a mess, and their finances were not good. Tang Xiaoxiao wanted to spend more time with her parents, but she was unable to because of her work and the long distance.

Worried about her aging parents far away, and with her life unsatisfactory, Tang Xiaoxiao spent the last two years before her rebirth feeling depressed, especially when arguing with her husband and having no one to confide in. The downside of marrying far away was that there was no one familiar around. Relatives and friends from the past had faded into distant places, and her aging parents couldn't handle any stress. Tang Xiaoxiao didn't even have anyone to confide in. She wasn't a strong and independent woman to begin with. Spoiled since childhood, she was somewhat willful and had a bit of a temper. Her ideal life was just a simple, ordinary life; she had no ambition to be a strong woman.

When I was feeling down, I felt like my life was a complete failure. I hadn't been filial to my parents, my marriage wasn't happy, I only earned enough to make ends meet, and I couldn't even afford a decent designer outfit. I had no expectations for the future.

Back then, she felt utterly powerless. Now, back ten years later, and with such a powerful advantage, Tang Xiaoxiao's first thought wasn't how to get rich and reach the pinnacle of life. Her strongest desire was to stay by her parents' side for the rest of her life, so that they could enjoy decades of happiness.

As for her ex-husband… Tang Xiaoxiao gave a bitter smile. She'd leave it to fate. She loved that man; their years of marriage had been undeniably good to her. However, marriage wasn't simply about mutual affection. Add to that her troublesome mother-in-law, and nine out of ten arguments were sparked by her. Tang Xiaoxiao was truly exhausted. Starting over in this life, it was uncertain whether they would ever meet again, and Tang Xiaoxiao had no intention of marrying someone so far away again. Thinking too much now was pointless.

Putting aside those unpleasant memories, Tang Xiaoxiao began to plan her time. She would receive her graduation certificate in two days, and then her parents would arrive, so Tang Xiaoxiao planned to use those two days to quickly buy some things she needed.

She still needed to do some things to confirm that magical space before she could plan her next steps.

Tang Xiaoxiao's university is located in the capital city of S province. Although the economy in the north is much less developed than that in the south, it is still a metropolis and shopping is very convenient.

After quickly tidying up, Tang Xiaoxiao slung her backpack, which she had bought for thirty yuan, over her shoulder, hailed a taxi, and headed straight for the city's largest and most established traditional Chinese medicine shop.
