Chapter Nine Sisters

Soon it was time for Xuanxuan to finish class. After giving the shop assistant a few instructions, Tang Xinxin and Tang Xiaoxiao went out together. They drove Tang Xinxin's car, with Tang Xiaoxiao in the passenger seat. On the way, Tang Xiaoxiao casually asked, "How's business at the shop these days?"

Tang Xinxin gave a wry smile: "It's barely keeping going. Business hasn't been as good as it used to be these past two years."

This answer was expected. We are currently in the era of the rise of e-commerce. In a few years, online shopping will have completely replaced physical stores, especially impacting the clothing industry, where nearly 80% of individual physical stores will not be able to withstand the pressure and will face closure.

In her previous life, Tang Xinxin closed her shop three years later and became an insurance agent.

Tang Xiaoxiao tentatively asked, "Why don't you try opening an online store? More and more people are buying things on Taobao now. It's cheaper than physical stores and they deliver to your door. The advantages are obvious. The main reason your business has not been as good as before in the past two years is also due to the impact of the internet."

Tang Xinxin was well aware of these things, but she was conservative by nature and valued her privacy highly. Opening an online store required filling in a lot of personal information, which made her feel unsafe. Moreover, unlike Tang Xiaoxiao, who was addicted to the internet, she didn't understand things online. She rarely went online herself and didn't even understand online shopping, let alone opening her own store.

Just as he was about to decline, Tang Xiaoxiao said, "If you feel unsure where to start, I can help you. You don't need to worry about anything in the early stages of opening the shop. Once my shop is up and running, I'll sell the goods from your shop. You'll be responsible for shipping any orders. You can take over completely once you're more familiar with the business."

These words took all of Tang Xinxin's concerns into account. After thinking for a moment, Tang Xinxin said, "If you have time, feel free to open one. Anyway, opening an online store doesn't require much cost. You can get the goods from my store. It's better if you can sell them, but if you can't, there's no loss. You can keep whatever you sell, and I'll just keep the cost price."

Tang Xiaoxiao made this suggestion to help her sister explore a new avenue, not because she wanted to make money herself, so of course it couldn't be done according to Tang Xinxin's suggestion. However, she didn't say anything more; she'd see how things went once things were on track.

Then Tang Xinxin asked, "I heard from my parents on the phone that you leased a mountain back home? Do you know how to farm? That's not what you studied in college. Even if you hire someone to manage it, you can't do it if you don't know how."

Tang Xiaoxiao then used the same excuse she had given her parents before: "I studied on my own in my spare time. There's an agricultural university right next door, and I often audit classes there. Cherries sell very well here, so I think I could give it a try."

"You're taking a bit of a risk. Your parents worked hard to save money, and they've given you so much all at once. If you lose it, they'll be really upset."

Tang Xinxin now believes that the money for renting the mountain came from her parents. In some families, with two daughters, if the parents can't treat one daughter equally and give one a large sum of money while the other receives nothing, there would have been a huge fight. However, when Tang Xinxin first learned that Tang Xiaoxiao's return had cost at least tens of thousands of yuan, she didn't say anything. Her family had never had any disputes over money. Tang Xinxin's words today were only out of concern for her parents' health, after all, the two elderly people were both over sixty years old.

Tang Xiaoxiao didn't think much of it. She moved closer to Tang Xinxin and said mysteriously, "It's my own money. I didn't use my parents' money."

Tang Xinxin was genuinely surprised. "Where did you get so much money right after graduation?"

So Tang Xiaoxiao tricked her sister again, bragging about her experience of winning the grand prize.

Tang Xinxin was utterly dumbfounded: "You're amazing! No wonder you dared to cause such a huge commotion, this money comes too easily."

"It was just good luck. I didn't expect it. Even so, my dad scolded me for a long time and ordered me never to gamble again."

"We really can't touch it anymore. Nine times out of ten, you lose. Nobody can have good luck forever. We should be more down-to-earth."

Tang Xinxin adopted the air of an older sister and gave Tang Xiaoxiao a few earnest words of advice, then teased, "I didn't expect our Xiaoxiao to be a little rich girl now. Aren't you going to give your niece any special treatment when you see her later?"

"They're all in my car, do you need to remind me?" Tang Xiaoxiao proudly raised her chin.

Xuanxuan's class wasn't far away; they arrived in about ten minutes. After the two sisters got out of the car, Tang Xinxin called Xuanxuan's name at the door, and the little girl skipped and hopped out, shouting, "Mommy!"

The little girl, about eight or nine years old, wore a red dress and had two cute little pigtails. Her chubby little face was full of bright smiles.

Tang Xiaoxiao stepped forward, squatted down, opened her arms, and said with a smile, "Xuanxuan, come here."

"Auntie!" Xuanxuan exclaimed in surprise, throwing herself into Tang Xiaoxiao's arms. "Auntie, when did you arrive? I've missed you so much!"

"You little liar, you have such a sweet tongue. If you miss me, why don't you come back to Grandma's to see me?"

"Mom is too busy. I also have to attend extracurricular tutoring classes. I have classes every day." The little girl pouted, looking aggrieved.

"Alright, alright, there are no classes tomorrow, so let's go to Grandma's house tonight, okay?" Tang Xinxin said helplessly from the side.

"Yay! Really? Mom is the best!" Upon hearing this, Xuanxuan immediately jumped up with joy.

Tang Xiaoxiao was also surprised, as her sister hadn't mentioned going back before.

Tang Xinxin said, "I don't have classes tomorrow or the day after. I was planning to take her home to visit her parents. It's been a long time since I've seen them."

"That's perfect. Let's pack up and go together when we get back." Tang Xiaoxiao was naturally happy as well.

After picking up Xuanxuan, we went to the shop first and put up a notice that it would be closed for two days. Then we went to Tang Xinxin's house. After her divorce, Tang Xinxin used the dowry money her parents gave her to buy a small two-bedroom apartment in City A. The mother and daughter settled down there. The room was decorated very warmly. Tang Xinxin was a diligent person, and even a little bit of a clean freak. No matter how busy she was, she insisted on cleaning the room every day. The small house was spotless.
