Tang Xiaoxiao didn't take the little incident at the store to heart, but a few days later, one evening, she received a call from He Haisheng.
The tone on the other end was a bit strange as they asked, "Boss, did you run into two idiots a few days ago?"
Tang Xiaoxiao didn't react for a moment, "What?"
He Haisheng asked, "Did you go to your flower shop a few days ago in the afternoon?"
"Yeah, what's up?" Tang Xiaoxiao tilted her head, holding her phone between her shoulder and ear, replying absentmindedly while manipulating the mouse. On the computer screen in front of her, a gigantic monster boss was roaring and unleashing tons of damage. Tang Xiaoxiao's character was tanking at the front, while the rest of the team jumped and moved to deal damage. This dungeon had a chance to drop extremely rare headgear equipment, and Tang Xiaoxiao was always very lucky, a well-known "lucky charm" in the guild. Almost whenever she was online, everyone would call on her to run dungeons with high drop rates.
Upon hearing Tang Xiaoxiao's answer, He Haisheng muttered "Damn it" under his breath, then said, "Then that's it, two people approached you and asked for your phone number, right?"
Tang Xiaoxiao understood and asked, "What, you know them?"
"Um," the voice on the other end hesitated a bit, "didn't I add you to a group? They're both in there, one named Li Mu and the other named Xiang Qifeng, they're both my childhood friends."
Tang Xiaoxiao has an almost photographic memory. Although she has never spoken in that group and doesn't usually check the group messages, there are only a few people in the group. When she first joined the group, she scanned the group member list and heard He Haisheng mention the two people's names, and she immediately remembered them.
They thought they were two complete strangers who would never cross paths, but it turned out they were friends in He Haisheng's circle.
"They investigated me?"
Tang Xiaoxiao's voice was somewhat cold.
The fact that He Haisheng called so quickly suggests that the other party has taken significant steps and has likely already ascertained her identity.
“Those two guys were asking about the owner behind ‘Red Dust.’ As soon as I heard it was your shop, I asked them what was going on.”
Tang Xiaoxiao snorted and said, "Let them investigate. My identity isn't a secret. What can they do even if they find out? As for what they might do... hehe."
"Boss, don't be impulsive." Sensing the unfriendly tone in her voice, He Haisheng quickly said, "They're not bad people, it's just that, you know, they're a bit...you know, they can't resist pretty girls, aren't all men like that...But as much as they're womanizers, I guarantee they've never done anything to bully others, please go easy on them!"
Tang Xiaoxiao understood. It turned out that this person had called in such a hurry not to warn her, but because he was afraid that the two of them might do something further that would anger her, and he was pleading for them.
How terrifying am I in He Haisheng's eyes?
She wasn't really angry, after all, she'd been hit on so many times, and although the two men during the day were glib and irresponsible, their eyes were honest and they didn't have that annoying feeling of spoiled brats. She believed what He Haisheng said.
However, she didn't like being bothered, so she said, "Then let's see what they do. I don't like them, so I'll tell them to leave me alone."
He Haisheng said cautiously, "If I could persuade them, I wouldn't have called you. Boss, how about... how about you come out tomorrow? I'll organize a meeting so we can get to know each other. Li Mu isn't the type to be stubborn. If you make your stance clear, he won't keep pestering you. If we make things clear once and for all, we'll avoid a lot of trouble. Don't you think so? We're all friends. Boss, it won't hurt for you to get to know more people when you develop your career in City A."
He Haisheng was also exhausted. After learning that Li Mu had been rejected when he asked for her phone number, he knew that Tang Xiaoxiao had absolutely no feelings for him. Based on his understanding, even if Tang Xiaoxiao had the slightest possibility of accepting him, she wouldn't play any hard-play games. So, Li Mu was probably doomed. But when he saw the look on Li Mu's face when he mentioned that girl, it was completely different from when he was playing around with women. The more fickle a person is, the more terrifying they are when they get serious. Although he was a straight man, he could see things very clearly when it didn't concern him. This brother was definitely in love. On one side was his childhood friend, and on the other side was his boss whom he admired and was somewhat afraid of (?). He was really in a dilemma.
The boss doesn't like Li Mu, and if Li Mu continues his investigation, it will inevitably arouse the boss's resentment. However, he can't bear to see his childhood friend get so caught up in this and suffer a blow.
The one who tied the knot must untie it; their advice is useless. Let him face reality as soon as possible, before he gets too deeply involved.
Tang Xiaoxiao hesitated for a moment, then nodded in agreement.
It wasn't just because of that Li Mu. She had repeatedly refused He Haisheng's invitations to their parties, thinking that she didn't want to have too much contact with these rich second-generation heirs. She was just a small-town girl with no connections. Although she had managed to build up some wealth on her own, it was nothing in the eyes of these truly rich people. She didn't want to be seen as a woman with ulterior motives who was trying to climb the social ladder.
But after today's incident, she thought about it carefully. Her hometown was here, and no matter how things developed in the future, City A would still be her base of operations. Sooner or later, she would be noticed, and constantly running away would only bring unnecessary trouble. Like today's phone call, if she had accepted He Haisheng's invitation to meet them earlier and treated them as ordinary friends, then what happened a few days ago wouldn't have happened. Relying solely on the He family's protection was clearly not enough; she needed to step into the limelight herself.
