Chapter Forty-Eight: Horrifying Moments

Ignoring the two men, she turned to look at the victim. He was a young man, not particularly handsome, with a somewhat frail demeanor, like an ordinary male student on a university campus. He had already stood up from the ground, a conspicuous red mark around his neck, and a motorcycle lying beside him. Clearly, he had been riding past when the assailant suddenly jumped out from the roadside, grabbed him by the neck, and dragged him off the motorcycle.

Tang Xiaoxiao looked at this road and felt that the scene in front of her was somewhat familiar.

In a flash of inspiration, she remembered a sensational case that had occurred in her past life.

Yuquan Town is rich in mineral resources, and a family surnamed Li made their fortune by relying on these natural resources. After decades of accumulation, they became well-known farmer-entrepreneurs in the area. The head of the family, Li Shengli, was even successfully elected as a representative to the National People's Congress last year. In City A and the surrounding towns and cities, almost everyone knows the name Li Shengli.

Most of the families in Yuquan Town make a living under his care.

However, Tang Xiaoxiao didn't pay much attention to these things. At that time, she was still young and only knew how to study. She didn't care at all about the important people in her hometown.

She noticed this family because of a tragedy that had happened there. Li Shengli's only son, Li Hao, went missing on his way home one day. After the police reported him missing, they searched extensively and finally found Li Hao's body in the bushes by this mountain road. However, it was a headless body, and his head was missing.

In her previous life, even when Tang Xiaoxiao was reborn, the head was nowhere to be found, and there was not a single clue about the murderer.

The murder shocked the entire city of A, a place known for its peace and tranquility, where such a serious crime hadn't occurred in years, especially since the victim was the only son of a well-known entrepreneur. Because the case made no progress, all the police officers involved, including the then-police chief, were significantly implicated.

The loss of his only son drained Lee Seung-ri of all his energy and spirit, causing him to age rapidly. He lost all interest in managing the company, and the "Seung-ri Group" declared bankruptcy three years later.

After the police cordon was lifted, many local residents, out of curiosity, came to the site where the body was found to watch and discuss it. Tang Xiaoxiao was out of town at the time and, although she hadn't been to the scene, her parents had told her about it more than once when she returned home. Every time they mentioned it, they were filled with sorrow.

Looking at this familiar place, the young man being strangled, and the two thugs bound hand and foot on the ground, Tang Xiaoxiao was both amused and exasperated. What kind of luck was this?

The young man staggered to Tang Xiaoxiao's side, his pale face still showing lingering fear and dread. He bowed deeply to Tang Xiaoxiao and said, "Thank you, young lady. If it weren't for you, I'm afraid I would have lost my life here tonight."

He may have injured his throat, as his voice was very hoarse, and he had great difficulty speaking.

Tang Xiaoxiao turned around and went to the car to take out a bottle of mineral water and handed it to him. The young man took it and carefully drank two sips. Then he said gratefully to Tang Xiaoxiao, "My name is Li Hao, and I live in Yuquan Town. What is your surname, young lady? Are you just passing through or do you live here? Please leave your contact information. I will definitely repay you in the future."

It really was him.

They spoke in such a refined and literary way, which was nothing like the bold and unrestrained manner of the locals.

But that's understandable; he looks like a frail scholar.

"No need for thanks. I just happened to be there. No one would stand idly by in such a situation."

Li Hao gave her a deep look and said with a wry smile, "You're too modest, young lady. Let alone a girl like you, even a grown man would probably choose to protect himself in this situation."

Tang Xiaoxiao couldn't refute this.

In the dead of night, in the middle of nowhere, if a murder were to occur, I doubt anyone would dare to intervene.

One wrong move and you could lose your life.

Judging from the way those two thugs pounced on her, if it had been an ordinary person who hadn't learned kung fu, they probably would have both died here.

If Tang Xiaoxiao hadn't been so skilled, she wouldn't have dared to step forward so easily.

But you can't blame others for being indifferent. After all, they're complete strangers, and who would be willing to risk their life and fortune for a complete stranger? Simply calling the police after passing by is already more than enough.
