Zhong Yan nodded in agreement. Even if she didn't say anything, she wouldn't let her guard down.
Money is a powerful motivator; she will definitely be careful.
However, in case they were coming, she had to make some preparations. Zhong Yan had a sudden idea and ran to the courtyard to set up some things.
Zhong Qin looked at her and chuckled inwardly. Her granddaughter was really clever; she had plenty of little tricks up her sleeve.
Sure enough, night fell.
A scream came from the courtyard. Zhong Yan immediately jumped out of the house, grabbed a broom and rushed over, whipping the girl around. Her attitude was arrogant, just like any other ordinary girl.
only……
This commotion is a bit frightening.
She paused, and saw a shadow flash by and dart over the wall.
Damn it!
"Don't pursue a cornered enemy; it's a weasel." Zhong Qin said, standing by the door, "Zhong Yan, go check if anything is missing from the house."
"No." Zhong Yan shook her head. She had been listening to the sounds the whole time. If something was missing, she would have known! Besides, there weren't any chickens in their yard.
Zhong Qin pursed her lips, looking in the direction he left. They had no past grudges or recent feuds, so why would the weasel come here?
"Grandma..."
"Rest tonight and we'll see tomorrow."
"Okay." Zhong Yan shrugged, agreeing with her reasoning. The main issue was that it was late at night, and even if she wanted to go out, her grandmother wouldn't feel comfortable with it.
Perhaps she still needs to find a way to deal with those people before her grandmother takes action.
Clearly, Zhong Qin had the same thought as her. For her, the safety of her granddaughter was the most important thing, so after confirming that Zhong Yan was asleep, she went after her.
The weasel hadn't gone far. Being caught in the animal trap was the greatest humiliation of his life, and once he came to his senses, he wanted to find them for revenge! Unexpectedly, the two women were so quiet, showing no intention of showing themselves.
"Weasel".
"Old woman, you've finally come!"
"Old woman?" Zhong Qin's face twisted for a moment. Without saying a word, she pounced on her. She had already dealt with most of the mountain spirits and monsters in the vicinity. This weasel, however, dared to provoke her.
The weasel took the challenge, shook off its severed limbs, and charged forward: "Hmph! At your age, instead of enjoying your retirement at home, you're out here causing trouble. What else are you but an old woman!"
Zhong Qin's lips twitched slightly. She vowed to teach him a lesson today. No matter what, she couldn't let him cause trouble for her granddaughter. As she punched and kicked him, she grabbed the weasel's tail and pulled it back forcefully.
The weasel let out a startled cry and, without saying a word, farted! The Zhong family had made enemies for a long time, and they had been bullied terribly over the years, forced to hide quietly in some place. Now that they had the chance, they had to take revenge.
"Ah! Zhong Qin, you shameless bastard! You actually kicked me..."
"Shameless? I have far more dignity than someone like you who farts everywhere." Zhong Qin sneered and said rudely, "Tell me, who sent you!"
"I don't like the look of you," the weasel said through gritted teeth. "I just want to kill you, is that not allowed?"
"Sure! Why not? But do you have that kind of guts? Or do your descendants have that kind of guts?" Zhong Qin looked at him coldly, her eyes full of contempt.
