Chapter 16 Take His Life

Zhong Yan followed his gaze and saw a blurry figure there. When it saw her come in, it shrank back in a panic, trying to curl up into a ball so that she couldn't see it.

It turned out to be a fox.

She thought for a moment and immediately understood!

"Teacher, I think Qin Huai needs to be discharged from the hospital."

"This..." Xiang Rong hesitated. How could he be discharged from the hospital in his current condition? If he couldn't get proper treatment after leaving, it would probably cause even more trouble.

"He must be discharged." Zhong Yan sighed softly. If things continue like this, Qin Huai's condition will only get worse. He'll even have trouble closing his eyes, let alone anything else.

Xiang Rong thought for a moment, then gripped his phone tightly and went outside to make a call.

Zhong Yan let him leave, then tried to walk up to Qin Huai and waved her hand: "Qin Huai, are you alright? If you can hear me, give me a response."

Qin Huai slowly turned his head and looked in her direction, but before he could do anything, the white figure suddenly exploded and rushed down.

"Don't meddle in other people's business!"

"Am I being nosy, or did you bring this on yourself?" Zhong Yan made a hand seal, tightly wrapping the shadow around it, preventing it from making any movement.

The little fox was furious, and her eyes held a hint of resentment as she looked at her: "He took the lives of my people, so I will take his life. It's fair."

Fairness my ass.

Zhong Yan knew very well that the Qin Huai family was in the fur business, and now that they were entangled with them, it was practically a death sentence for them. But that didn't mean the little fox would take a life for a life!

If we let her do as she pleases, who knows what might happen.

"Little fox, leave now and I may spare your life."

"Spare me? You hypocritical humans! My people deserve to be humiliated by you? Let me tell you, I'm going to take his life."

"Qin Huai is innocent," Zhong Yan said, emphasizing each word. "Why are you making such a fuss? Even if you take this to the underworld, you won't gain anything."

"The Underworld?" The little fox's eyes grew even colder. This ghost hunter in front of her probably didn't know that the Underworld could no longer control them! The gates of hell were wide open, and countless ghosts poured into the human world, seeking revenge for their grudges. Did she think that a few mere mortals could do anything to them?

Seeing her strange expression, Zhong Yan couldn't figure out what was going on. To be more precise, she didn't know what the little fox wanted to do.

The barrier they set up is getting weaker and weaker.

Her brows furrowed slightly, adding another layer of intensity.

Freed from the little fox's restraints, Qin Huai slowly woke up and, seeing her appear before him, a huge look of surprise flashed across his eyes.

"Zhong Yan, you've arrived."

"How are you feeling?" Zhong Yan's eyes couldn't hide her worry. "Is there anything wrong? I left in a hurry and didn't bring any warding-off-evil pills. I'll go ask Grandma for some later..."

"I'm fine, Zhong Yan. It's so good to see you." Qin Huai gave a warm smile, as if having her by his side was enough.

Zhong Yan was speechless. He was one of the few people who had been kind to her. Now that she had been given a second chance, she was determined to protect them. As for that little fox, she had no choice but to offend it.

Thinking this way, her expression became even more resolute.

Qin Huai suddenly realized something, a look of vigilance appearing in his eyes. He glanced around and quickly said, "Zhong Yan, run! There are monsters here that eat people."

Zhong Yan's heart softened even more. She took a few steps forward and took his hand in her own: "No, those aren't monsters, just some little guys..."
