Chapter 20

Chapter 20

Bi Chunliu stood in front of the textile factory gate, looking at everything in front of her, and tightened the strap of her backpack. Although she hadn't been here for a long time, based on her memory, she felt that she could definitely do it!

"Chunliu, Bi Chunliu!"

Bi Chunliu turned her head and smiled. She still remembered this colleague and replied, "Xiaojun."

Wang Xiaojun trotted to catch up with Bi Chunliu and asked in a low voice, "You're back? How is your grandma?" Working in the same room, she naturally knew the reason why Bi Chunliu asked for leave. At that time, Bi Chunliu's face didn't look very good, and she thought that Bi's grandma was dying.

Bi Chunliu: "It's nothing, I'm just old and a little weak."

"Hey, that's good. Now that you're here, I'll have someone to eat with, go to the bathroom with, and chat with." Wang Xiaojun said happily, holding Bi Chunliu's arm. "By the way, my sister-in-law said their grocery store will be delivering two large pigs tomorrow. Do you want to buy any?"

Two pigs?! Bi Chunliu nodded excitedly: "I want it, I want it! It's not the end of the year yet, and it's not time to slaughter pigs yet, how come two pigs suddenly appeared?"

Wang Xiaojun: "They are not domestic pigs, but wild boars. My sister-in-law said last night that she heard their director talking to a man when she got off work. The man said that they saw three wild boars in total in their village! They planned to keep one in the village and send the other two wild boars here. They are both very big, and I estimate that each one weighs more than 200 pounds. Tsk, I don’t know what the wild boars eat, why are they so fat. But it’s good that they are fat, so that we can eat more meat, hehe..." Wang Xiaojun gestured as he spoke, with a smile on his round face.

"Okay, by the way, can I tell the aunties in our compound? I'm afraid I won't have time to buy it, so this way they can bring it to me." Bi Chunliu felt that she would definitely not be able to buy meat in time, and by the time she got off work, there would probably not even be any meat scraps left.

Wang Xiaojun: "Why not? You can talk about it tonight when you get home. The meat won't arrive until tomorrow anyway. My sister-in-law said the pig won't be delivered until tomorrow morning."

Bi Chunliu: "Okay! Thank you, Xiaojun."

"Well, we are friends. Next time you make chili sauce, just give me some. I think your chili sauce tastes great with steamed buns!" Wang Xiaojun gave a thumbs up.

"Okay, if you like it, I'll make more next time. Make some with meat, it's even more fragrant!" Bi Chunliu does know how to make chili sauce; she learned it from her grandmother. Bi Chunliu's grandmother, Old Lady Xu, is Korean and a master at making chili sauce. Not just the traditional kind, but also a delicious one. Bi Chunliu's mother and her two aunts make mediocre chili sauce, but Bi Chunliu's is much more delicious, on par with Old Lady Xu's. Old Lady Xu once said that her family's craftsmanship wasn't wasted.

"Hehe, okay, I knew you were the best..." Wang Xiaojun smiled and shook Bi Chunliu's hand.

The two chatted until they soon arrived at the office. Bi Chunliu immediately recognized her desk among the four, simply because it was the most plain. The union office wasn't large, just one room, divided into two halves. One half was occupied by the union chairman, while the other half held four desks, which served as workstations for Bi Chunliu and the other four staff members.

"Sister Zhao and my cousin haven't arrived yet. Let's go get some water first?" Wang Xiaojun said, putting down his backpack.

"OK."

The cousin Wang Xiaojun mentioned was Wang Hongxia, the vice chairwoman of the labor union. It was Wang Hongxia who signed Wang Xiaojun up for the union. The other Zhao sister was Zhao Mei. Both were veteran workers at the textile factory, and they were always the first to know about any developments.

While fetching water, Bi Chunliu also reacquainted himself with the factory. The water room and the canteen were adjacent, and along the way, they ran into Wang Xiaojun's sister, Wang Xiaoman. Wang Xiaojun's mother had originally worked in the textile factory canteen, and Wang Xiaoman had later taken over her mother's shift.

Watching his sister hurrying off to work, Wang Xiaojun sighed, "Oh, Chunliu, why do we have to get married? My sister and mom are arguing about this again."

Bi Chunliu didn't know what to say, because she had never been married in her previous life. "Maybe you're afraid no one will take care of you when you get old. How old is your sister?"

Wang Xiaojun: "My sister is only 20 years old. My mother said that if she doesn't find a partner soon, she will be too old and all the good ones will be picked up."

Bi Chunliu, also twenty years old, felt like he had been shot in the back. "So what did your sister say?"

Wang Xiaojun glanced around and whispered, "My sister doesn't agree. She said she's not in a hurry. But I think my sister already has a partner."

"Huh? How did you know?"

"My sister writes to me every month. She says it's from one of her female classmates, but I know all of her classmates, and none of them are in the army!" Wang Xiaojun was furious. "I don't know who is secretly seducing my sister, huh!"

Bi Chunliu couldn't help laughing. Although she herself didn't have a crush on soldiers, the soldiers nowadays were still very reliable! "I think no matter what, you can't make the decision."

Wang Xiaojun was dejected. "I know. I'm just afraid my sister has been deceived. If she really gets together with a soldier who lives far away, it will be difficult for us to meet in the future."

"That's true. I think if you really want to know, you should ask your sister and see what she thinks and what she says. What if it's just a female classmate?" Bi Chunliu comforted.

"Yeah, that's right."

The kettle was full and the two men returned to the office.
