Wood was dragged back to the office at the agricultural machinery exhibition.
Although reluctant, I still felt uncertain after what the island nation staff said.
Was I really scammed?
If you get scammed, that's your island nation's responsibility!
Why are they letting just any Tom, Dick, or Harry participate in the exhibition?
Wood was furious, unable to believe that his years of experience had been fooled, and heartbroken about the dollars he had just spent.
Damn it, we're about to go into the cave.

The young woman was overjoyed; earning this money was even more satisfying than paying the bill on the first, second, and third of the month.
Back in the office.
Wood was invited in, and the organizers brought out fruit and snacks, asking Wood to wait a moment.
"Mr. Wood, we are very sorry to have invited you here and made you miss the exhibition!" The organizer took the lead, and the others bowed to Wood in unison to apologize.
Wood still found it difficult to adapt to the islanders' behavior; a large group of people bowing to him made him feel like he was attending a funeral.
It felt like my own funeral!
Wood, suppressing his nausea, asked, "What exactly happened?"
"Wait a moment, we'll call someone right away."
Another bow!
Wood thought that since people in this island nation generally have herniated discs, he might be able to make a lot of money by selling back pain medication.
A short while later.
Manufacturers such as Nakamura, Honda, and Mitsubishi entered the office.
Wu Changfeng followed behind, along with Director Wang and others.
Wood spotted Wu Changfeng immediately, put down his coffee, and greeted him, "The coffee here is quite good."
Wu Changfeng responded with a smile: "If you have time, you can go to the mainland to try snake grass water, it's very delicious."
Director Wang's eyes widened. "You're such a swindler!"
After the group arrived at their destination.
The organizer asked, "Mr. Wood, did you place an order with Morning Star for lawnmowers?"
Wood replied, "Of course, is there a problem?"
"During the procurement process, were you misled by Mr. Wu Changfeng, or did he use any methods that violated business ethics? Did you have any misunderstandings or misperceptions about his products?"
Wood replied expressionlessly, "What do you mean by that? Can't I place an order with my own money?"
The organizers also felt that asking like this wouldn't yield any results, so they changed their approach:
"Mr. Wood, let me put it this way, did you make this purchase voluntarily? Were you under any threat?"
Wood looked bewildered: "Isn't that obvious? They didn't point a gun at me, are they trying to force me?"
Wood was truly impressed.
He thought to himself: "We American dads can't be threatened at our sons' houses, can we? Which son would dare threaten his dad!"
Do you guys even have brains?!
The organizer remained relentless, as if he had already condemned Wu Changfeng, and continued to ask, "Please recall whether you were subjected to any abnormal inducements during the procurement process?"
Inducement?
Wood fell into deep thought.
If there is any inducement involved, then that calculation method is a major driving force behind my purchasing decisions.
But there shouldn't be any problem with that, right?
Wu Changfeng suddenly said, "There are some inducements during the sales process, which is simply a matter of business logic, not a reason for fraud."
"Don't you guys praise your own products when you sell them?"
Wood nodded. "Yes, isn't that normal?"
On one side, Nakamura questioned Wu Changfeng: "Did you make any unusual promises to Mr. Wood?"
Before Wu Changfeng could even offer an explanation...
Wood jumped up, pointed his finger at them, and yelled, "You guys seem to be sick! Are you saying I took kickbacks? This is slander! It's an insult to my character!"
"If these words get back to my trading company, they will have an irreparable impact on me! You will be held responsible!"
"No, no, no, that's absolutely not what I meant!" the organizer quickly said.
Commercial bribery is a hornet's nest problem to begin with, especially when the other party is the American "daddy." Even if they really did accept commercial bribes, who would dare to investigate?
The organizers had no choice but to say, "Actually, we felt that this order was a bit unusual, and we were worried that you might have been scammed."
Wood chuckled and said, "I don't understand why you would have such a strange idea! I've been working in international trade for many years and have a lot of experience. How could I be so easily fooled?"
"Then why do you choose to buy the worst products out of all these excellent ones? I can't help but worry that you're being scammed."
The organizers spoke with deep regret.

Wood snorted: "I do need a better lawnmower, but I need a lawnmower with better value for money!"
"Value for money?"
The other manufacturers all looked puzzled.
In the past, lawnmowers from our island nation offered the best value for money!
How come when manufacturers from mainland China come out, they become the ones with the best price-performance ratio?
Are you kidding me?
We use only the best craftsmanship and materials, and the prices are also competitive.
Is it comparable to a garbage-cleaning weeding machine?
Nakamura laughed and said, "Isn't it just because the price is cheap?"
Honda's representative displayed a confident expression.
Mitsubishi responded, "It's just a price reduction; I can do that too."
The three manufacturers all thought the same thing: although lowering prices would reduce profits, as long as they could get the orders back, earning less was acceptable.
