Chapter 256: The Overgrown Pomegranate Garden

Li Cheng knew that Boss Hu had three shops, and this shop was just one of them. The other two were in Shunda Seafood Market.

When Li Cheng came in, he saw that the water tanks and fish ponds used to raise abalone in the store had been emptied, and the shop assistants were busy packing up.

Yang Hong asked one of the guys if their boss was there.

The guy said, "The boss is not here," and was about to leave.

Yang Hong stopped him, handed him a business card, and said, "Be sure to give it to your boss."

The guy took the business card, looked at Yang Hong and Li Cheng, nodded and left.

After the two came out, Li Cheng said, "He didn't clear out his inventory here. It looks like the items have already been moved. Maybe he has another store."

Yang Hong turned his head and took a look, then said, "Yes, a cunning rabbit has three burrows. It seems that Boss Hu not only has a store here, but must have stores in other markets as well."

Li Cheng nodded and said, "No matter where he has a store, as long as he contacts you, tell him that the contract is void."

Yang Hong smiled and said, "This way we can force him out."

Li Cheng stopped and looked at the people busy in the market. He said, "It's not that I'm forcing him, but those sixty contracts are indeed invalid."

Yang Hong was shocked and quickly asked Li Cheng what was going on.

Li Cheng told him that on the day Shunda Seafood Market opened, the sixty shops did not open for business, which violated the principle stated in the contract that they must abide by market management regulations and work together to prosper the market.

"Since they don't take the contract seriously, we can't indulge them. When Boss Hu contacts you, you should just say this."

Yang Hong laughed. He didn't expect that Li Cheng had this trick up his sleeve for Boss Hu.

"You can also tell him that the rent he paid will be withheld in full according to the contract because it violates the principle of truth."

Yang Hong thought that if this happened, Boss Hu would definitely get furious.

However, a contract is a contract. Since you violated it first, don't blame Li Cheng for being cruel.

The shops at Shunda Seafood Market are all spacious and equipped with cold storage and fish tanks. Compared to this seafood market, they are really a world apart.

With such good conditions and very low rent, Boss Hu and others can move there and continue their seafood business.

But when Boss Hu saw that the rents of the sixty shops that Yang Hong and his team offered were very low when they were soliciting investment, he actually manipulated things behind the scenes and asked people from the market to come forward and rent all those low-rent shops.

Actually, this is nothing. If they rent the shop and operate it normally, Li Cheng will not say much.

But Boss Hu actually had two purposes in letting people rent the shops. One was that he wanted to continue to control the merchants in the original market. So, although the contracts were signed by these merchants, the rent was actually paid by Boss Hu alone.

In this way, those merchants who want to do business at Shunda Seafood Market actually have to rent shops from Boss Hu.

In other words, Boss Hu wants to use those shops to become the dominant force in the seafood market again.

In the eyes of Boss Hu and those merchants, the contract doesn't mean much; what matters is who pays the money.

Another reason why Boss Hu paid to rent those shops was that he had a fancy for that place.

The road on the Shibaqu Lane side is narrow, making it inconvenient for cars and people to enter and exit. Boss Hu is a smart man. He knows that the business will grow bigger and bigger in the future, but the space on the Shibaqu Lane side is limited and can no longer be developed.

So, he set his sights on Shunda Seafood Market.

He was the one who actually paid the rent for the sixty shops. In other words, he had easily become a second-hand landlord.

Boss Hu was able to attack and defend, and he thought he had done a great job. If he hadn't met Li Cheng, he would have succeeded.

But the person he met was Li Cheng, who knew all of Boss Hu's petty tricks very well and was just waiting for Boss Hu to come find him.

But three days passed and Yang Hong did not receive a call from Boss Hu.

Upon learning that Boss Hu did not look for Yang Hong, Li Cheng asked Yang Hong to send someone to Shibaqu Lane to tell the merchants who had almost finished processing the goods in their hands that they could go to Shunda Seafood Market to do business.

The people Yang Hong sent went door to door to inform them. To their surprise, they were given copies of the contracts they had signed.

Seeing the contract, these people felt like they had found a lifeline, because the contract in their hands had already been handed over to Boss Hu.

Moreover, they had already signed a new lease contract with Boss Hu. In the new contract, the rent for Shunda Seafood Market had doubled.

At this time, Yang Hong sent someone to invite them to settle in Shunda Seafood Market, and also said that the contract they signed with the market was valid. These people immediately burst into tears of gratitude.

Without much ado, in just half a day, these merchants moved to Shunda Seafood Market.

As soon as these merchants moved out, the engineering team sent by Weng Xiaozhu immediately entered the area and began digging trenches on the ground...

Since then, the seafood market in Shibaqu Lane has completely ceased to exist.

This became a major event, with city officials and TV station personnel attending the groundbreaking ceremony. Both Yang Hong, the investor, and Weng Xiaozhu, the contractor, made television appearances.

While the groundbreaking ceremony was being held over there, Li Cheng was sitting in the dilapidated courtyard he had just bought, staring at the pomegranate tree branch sticking out from the weeds in the corner of the wall.
