Hou Wenjie's mind flashed through countless scenes from TV dramas and novels. He wanted to write a unique way to break the ice and help the protagonist win back the relationship.
He imagined one strange and wonderful method after another, but he quickly rejected them all.
In the end, he decided to use the most basic method: relentless pestering!
Even the most virtuous woman can be swayed by persistent men, let alone the first man to enter her heart!
So Hou Wenjie began to write.
The protagonist boards a plane, travels across most of the country, and arrives at Chanel's doorstep, knocking on her door.
Chanel hadn't left the house these past few days, ordering rice balls for delivery. When she heard the knock on the door, she assumed it was the delivery guy bringing the food.
But when she opened the door, she saw a face that she both loved and hated.
The protagonist stands outside the door, holding a necklace box in his hands, with countless roses arranged behind him to form a vow of love.
The protagonist looked at Chanel and said, "I told you, I would take responsibility for you, love you for life. Roses will witness my vow, and this Heart of the Ocean necklace represents my eternal love!"
Chanel wasn't particularly moved. She gave the protagonist a cold glance and then closed the door.
The protagonist shouts outside the door, saying that if she ignores him, he will stand outside the door forever.
Chanel heard the noise outside the door but ignored it, though her heart was filled with turmoil.
Love and hate are intertwined; how could a small woman like her possibly sort it out?
The poet said, "The flowers fade easily, just like my lover's heart; the flowing water is endless, just like my sorrow."
Chanel had no idea whether the person outside the door loved her for who she was, or was simply after her youthful body. She felt a pang of anxiety and a deep sorrow welling up inside her.
After a while, Chanel tiptoed toward the door. When her eyes met the cat on the door, she both hoped that the person had left, but for some reason, she also hoped to see him.
Sure enough, Chanel saw him still standing outside the door.
So, Chanel went back to the living room and curled up on the sofa.
Perhaps due to recent exhaustion, she actually drifted off to sleep.
When she woke up, it was already afternoon, and it had started raining heavily outside the window at some point.
This startled her. She ran barefoot to the door, opened it, and sure enough, the person was gone.
Chanel breathed a sigh of relief, but for some reason, she felt a sense of loss and a sharp, inexplicable pain in her heart. Then, she closed the door.
Before Chanel could sit back down on the sofa, she heard another knock on the door.
As soon as Chanel opened the door, she saw the protagonist, who was soaking wet, carrying a plastic bag filled with food.
Chanel stared at him blankly, not knowing what to say for a moment.
Despite his soaked clothes and the rain streaming down his head, the protagonist still smiled at Xiang Nai: "I heard you haven't been eating properly these past few days, so I had someone make your favorite dishes!"
Seeing him soaked to the bone, Chanel felt a pang of sympathy and sighed. "Come in and dry yourself off."
Since there were no men's clothes at home, Kana had no choice but to find one of her own clothes for the protagonist to wear.
Chanel looked at the man wearing her clothes and spat, "Ugly! Come and eat!"
The protagonist saw that Kana had actually set out a bowl and chopsticks for him, and knew that he had succeeded halfway.
During the meal, Chanel remained silent, while the main character chatted about some embarrassing things he had done in the past.
After dinner and everything was tidied up, the protagonist said that he would bring her breakfast again tomorrow, but for dinner, he would go out to a restaurant with her.
Seeing Kana's conflicted expression, the protagonist quickly said, "If you don't say anything, I'll take that as a yes."
The next day, the protagonist brought Kana her favorite rice porridge and fruit early in the morning.
The protagonist watched her finish eating, and then told him that he had already made a reservation at the restaurant.
As dusk fell, the protagonist returned to Chanel's house.
He saw a Chanel who was dressed up beautifully.
Then, he naturally took her hand. She struggled slightly, but then let the man hold it.
Hou Wenjie looked at the text and saw that it already contained 2,000 words, so he considered his work for the day complete.
He can be considered to have jumped from a thousand-word writer to a super typing machine with two thousand words.
Hou Wenjie suddenly realized that rain wasn't entirely a bad thing. Wasn't it because of a rainstorm that the female protagonist in his book changed her mind about him?
At that moment, it was drizzling outside the shop.
Hou Wenjie has noticed that Magic Bean Bookstore is losing customers.
He needs to consider a career change.
Just then, he suddenly heard footsteps. When he looked up, he felt like he had gone mad.
Because he saw the prototype of the heroine in his book, Chanel!
Could it be such a coincidence? Could it be that, like the elegant woman in the shirt, she also knows I wrote a fantasy novel and is planning to make me delete its chapters?
Hou Wenjie felt uneasy; these few chapters represented many days of his hard work.
Then he realized that Chanel didn't seem to know him; she seemed to have simply come in to take shelter from the rain.
Hou Wenjie watched her stand there for a while, then casually opened a book called "The Stunning Bodyguard," but after reading only two pages, her face flushed slightly, and she quickly put it back on the shelf.
Next, she opened a book called "I Loaded an Emotional Game," read a few pages, and then, as if electrocuted, put the book back.
She looked around and seemed to realize then that all the customers sitting in the bookstore were men, which made her feel a little awkward.
Then, her eyes met Hou Wenjie's.
Hou Wenjie could clearly sense the shyness in her eyes.
So he walked over, smiled, and said:
"Hello, miss, we only sell romance novels for young adults."
"Ah... I'm sorry! I didn't know that." Kana quickly apologized.
Hou Wenjie laughed and said, "It's alright, you can rest in the shop for a while and leave after the rain stops!"
"Really?" Kana blinked her watery eyes.
"Of course!" Hou Wenjie whispered, "As long as it doesn't disturb others."
Chanel looked around and saw four old men sitting in several corners of the bookstore.
At this moment, the old men were so engrossed in reading that they didn't even glance in her direction.
Chanel turned her gaze to Hou Wenjie, "Thank you, shop owner. You're such a kind person. I still don't know your name."
"My name is Hou Wenjie!" Hou Wenjie stated his name directly.
Xiang Nai smiled sweetly: "So it's Wenjie-jun. My name is Xiang Nai, and I'm a new actress."
Hou Wenjie nodded and asked, "The tea here is free, would you like some?"
Chanel paused, blinking her beautiful eyes. "Is it okay if I don't buy the book here?"
Hou Wenjie smiled and said, "Of course! What kind of tea do you like?"
"Black tea," Chanel replied reservedly.
Hou Wenjie said, "There's some black tea here, it's in that box over there. You can make some yourself if you get thirsty later!"
What?! Xiang Nai was a little confused as she watched Hou Wenjie sit back down in his seat.
She thought Hou Wenjie was asking her what kind of tea she wanted to drink because he wanted to brew her a cup himself, but it turned out he was asking her to brew it herself.
Is this the womanizer, the seasoned player in the game of love, that Shanxia was talking about? That doesn't seem right.
Did her acting skills go to waste? Or is she just not pretty enough?
