Chapter 166 A Heart Flutter

"Then I'll take you back now!" Hou Wenjie said.

"Mmm!" Chanel answered softly, feeling a bit confused.

Then, she felt a large hand gently grasp her left hand.

Chanel looked up along the hand and saw Hou Wenjie looking to the side with an indifferent expression. She lowered her head again, struggled slightly with her hand, but couldn't break free, so she let him hold it.

The two of them walked forward in silence.

Just as he was about to go downstairs, Hou Wenjie suddenly felt that he should say something, so he stopped and asked directly:

"Shannai, will you be my girlfriend?"

Hou Wenjie's question was so abrupt that Xiang Nai lost her balance for a moment and almost tripped in her haste. However, Hou Wenjie reacted quickly and pulled her back, but one of her feet landed on Hou Wenjie's foot.

Xiangna quickly moved her foot away, her face already flushed. She hurriedly said, "I'm sorry, Wenjie, I accidentally stepped on you."

"It doesn't matter."

Hou Wenjie didn't mind and laughed, "So, Xiang Nai, would you like to be my girlfriend?"

Xiang Nai looked at Hou Wenjie with her watery eyes, her face flushed, and said softly, "But, Wenjie-kun, we've only known each other for a few days?"

Hou Wenjie looked at her seriously and said:

"I saw a movie that said that timing is crucial when it comes to love. Meeting too early or too late is no good."

I think that statement is very true.

Chanel, to me, you are the right time and the right person.

The length of time spent knowing someone is meaningless in the context of love. A thousand years is too long; I'll seize the day.

As Chanel listened to the man before her speaking such poetic words of love, she felt as if her whole body was being burned by a small fire.

In that instant, she forgot her original reason for going to the Magic Bean Bookstore; she only felt a heart-stirring power.

She didn't answer the man directly, but the fingers of the hand she was holding slipped through his palm, and their hands became clasped together.

The two held hands and walked downstairs to their car.

After closing the car door, Hou Wenjie asked, "Xiang Nai, where do you live?"

Kana replied, "I live in the Nippori apartment next to the corner park."

Hou Wenjie nodded and said to Pu Shangzhi, who was sitting in the driver's seat:

"Let's go to Nippori!"

"Yes, President!" Naoto Kamishiro started the car.

The car drove smoothly on the roads of Kyoto. Hou Wenjie held Xiang Nai's hand and looked at her slightly flushed face. A ripple of emotion stirred in his heart. It felt very comfortable, like a gentle breeze.

Is this what people call love?

Xiang Nai blushed even more, probably because she was a little shy from Hou Wenjie's gaze. She smoothed her hair and asked, "Wenjie, where are you from?"

Hou Wenjie said, "I grew up and studied in mainland China, and later settled in Kyoto, where I opened the Magic Bean Bookstore. What about you, Chanel?"

"Wenjie, you are amazing. You managed to open such a big bookstore all by yourself in Kyoto."

Xiang Nai looked at Hou Wenjie with eyes full of admiration, then puffed out her cheeks in a slightly dejected manner and said, "Well, I lived in Kyushu when I was little, and later I went to the mainland to study at a drama academy. I thought I could become a good actress."

As Chanel spoke, she couldn't help but feel a little disappointed.

Hou Wenjie reached out and pulled her into his arms, saying, "Don't worry, I'll take care of you from now on!"

"Mmm!" Xiang Nai rested her head against Hou Wenjie's chest, her eyes slightly narrowed.

"Are you sleepy?" Hou Wenjie asked.

"A little." Chanel felt as if the weight of the past year or so had been lifted from her chest as she leaned against this man's chest.

Hou Wenjie said softly, "Then take a nap. I'll wake you when we get there."

"Thank you, Wenjie-kun," Xiangna said, still a little confused.

"Hmm!" Hou Wenjie looked at the woman's charming face and relaxed eyebrows, and suddenly understood why there is love.

The poet says, [The pearl lock stirred stealthily, startling me from my dream on the silver screen. A slow, gentle smile graced her face; we gazed at each other with boundless affection.]

As the poem says, Hou Wenjie looked at that pretty face and was already imagining what she would look like when she woke up.

The car drove smoothly and soon arrived at the Nippori apartment building.

Hou Wenjie didn't call out; it was the car stopping that made Xiang Nai sense something was different. She groggily opened her eyes and asked, "Have we arrived?"

"Yes, we've arrived!" Hou Wenjie replied.

With Hou Wenjie's reply, Xiang Nai seemed to finally wake up. She opened her eyes wide, staring intently to fully regain her senses, her expression indescribably adorable.

It seemed that only then did Xiang Nai realize that Hou Wenjie was also beside her. When she looked up, she saw Hou Wenjie's gaze, and her face turned red again, with a shy smile in her eyes.

She quickly apologized, "I'm sorry, Wenjie, I was a bit rude."

Hou Wenjie laughed and said, "No, you're very cute, I like you just the way you are."

"Um... Wenjie, I'll get off the bus then!" Xiangnai didn't dare to look him in the eye.

"Um."

With that, Hou Wenjie and Xiang Nai got out of the car together.

Hou Wenjie looked at the apartment building and asked, "Are you living with friends, or alone?"

Chanel said, "I'm with my best friend; she should be at work right now."

Hou Wenjie laughed and said, "So you're saying you're all alone now? Aren't you going to invite me up to take a look?"

Kana then realized she had misspoke and quickly said, "Wenjie-kun, that's not what I meant, and besides, it's really... really..."

Chanel blushed with anxiety and looked nervously at Hou Wenjie.

Hou Wenjie smiled and put his arm around her:

"Okay, Chanel, I understand. I'll come pick you up later, okay?"

"Hmm..." Xiang Nai nodded, then looked up at herself, "Wenjie-kun, aren't you angry with me?"

Hou Wenjie laughed and said, "In your heart, am I such a petty person?"

Chanel quickly replied, "Of course not!"

"That's settled then!" Hou Wenjie smiled. "You go ahead, I'll be going now!"

"Um... goodbye Wenjie-kun!" Xiangna said, taking several steps to the stairs. She turned around and saw Hou Wenjie still watching her. Her heart warmed, and she smiled at the man before stepping onto the stairs.

As she climbed the stairs, Chanel felt as if she were stepping on piano keys, a melodious tune echoing in her heart, her heart pounding rhythmically.

She happily made her way to her floor, inserted the key into the lock and turned it, only to find that the door wasn't locked at all.

When I opened the door, I found that it was Shan Xia at home.

Kana asked curiously, "Shinshita, why are you leaving get off work so early today?"
