【008】 Goodbye Xi Lang

【008】 Goodbye Xi Lang

Life in his third year of high school was a repetitive routine: classroom, cafeteria, and dorm. During the day, Gu Juan no longer sat through any of his classes. Evening, after lights out, he would lie in bed and practice his exercises several times. His life had become remarkably regular.

When the head teacher assigned the dormitories, he might have used the students' academic performance as a criterion, but none of the boys in Gu Juan's dormitory liked to study. After the lights were turned off at night, as soon as the teacher who checked the dormitories left, they would secretly "chat". This was a new word invented by the students themselves, meaning to talk nonsense, and the topics were nothing more than popular games and beautiful women.

In the past, even if Gu Juan did not participate in their conversation, he would still listen silently. But now, he found it difficult to adapt to such an environment. He could only close his ears, block out their voices, and secretly make a plan to go to school as a commuter.

A week of study ended uneventfully. On Saturday morning, Gu Juan stuffed his dirty clothes and textbooks to read when he got home into his bag, walked to the school gate, and met Gu Yinyin and Gu Haojie.

I don’t know what the two were talking about. Gu Haojie looked impatient and pushed Gu Yinyin hard, causing her to almost fall down.

"Yin Yin."

Gu Haojie glanced at Gu Juan with an arrogant and disdainful look, put on his schoolbag and left first.

"What happened?" Gu Juan lowered his head and asked Gu Yinyin.

Gu Yinyin's eyes dimmed. "He asked me for money, and I told him I'd save it for reference books and give it to him when I saved enough. He got angry. During the National Day holiday, my parents each gave him 500 yuan, and my grandmother gave him 200 yuan. He still asked me for..." She cheered up and smiled. "It's okay. Let him be. I'm going home, and you should go back soon."

"Only by becoming stronger can you make decisions for yourself." Gu Juan said, turned and left.

Gu Yinyin stood there in a daze for a long time, and her confused eyes gradually became firm.

Returning home, Gu Juan tossed his dirty clothes into the old washing machine, drew the curtains, and slipped into the space. The space was filled with abundant spiritual energy, and the vegetables and fruits grew at a different rate than outside. The vegetables he had planted had already grown about 15 centimeters; the mature fruit trees were lush and vigorous, not withering in the new environment.

Because most of the fruit trees he bought were mature, they cost him a lot of money. Gu Juan calculated his current balance and realized he only had about 20,000 yuan left on his card, which wouldn't last long. After some thought, he decided to sell a piece of jade.

The jades in the treasure room ranged in size, shape, and color. There was Hetian jade, white with a hint of light blue, Lantian jade, a vibrant green, and Gobi jade, a yellow like a yellow peach... Although Gu Juan didn't know much about jade, he could tell these jades were not ordinary. After a long search, he chose a piece the size of a ping-pong ball, which contained less spiritual energy and would not attract too much attention.

After breakfast, he went out. To be cautious, he entered a shopping mall when it was most crowded, disguised himself in the mall's bathroom to ensure that no one could recognize him, and then hired a black car to go to the neighboring city.

Unaware of jade prices, he first went to a medium-sized jade shop and randomly offered five million. The manager looked at him as if he were mad, calling the price ridiculously high. Unconvinced, Gu Juan left and went to a second jade shop, again offering five million. The owner of that shop hesitated and offered three million.

Gu Juan went to a third, larger jade shop and again offered five million. The owner explained that the jade was a rare, old-pit glass-type jade and readily agreed to a maximum of four million. Gu Juan agreed and asked the owner to transfer the four million to two accounts: one with two hundred thousand and the other with three million.

With this money, Gu Juan felt confident enough. Without any further delay, he took a black car back to Congzhou, got off at the train station, walked around in the crowd twice, and went to the bathroom to change back into his original appearance.

It was already past two in the afternoon when he got home. After having a late lunch at a restaurant outside the community, he took out a business card from his pocket and dialed the number on it.

The call was connected quickly.

"Who is this?" The male voice on the phone was low and deep, and his slow speaking speed revealed a sense of calmness.

Gu Juan said calmly, "My notebook."

The person on the other end paused. "What's your account number? I'll transfer the money to you."

Gu Juan hadn't forgotten the embarrassing incident at the mall last time, and he had to take revenge to calm down. "No."

"...Meet at the entrance of Shengming Shopping Mall at four o'clock."

The other party's tone was as if it was a matter of course. It was obvious that he had been in a high position for a long time and was accustomed to making decisions. Gu Juan was even more disgusted with him.

"Can."

After hanging up the phone, Gu Juan checked the time and saw it was still early, so he lingered for a while before heading to Shengming Shopping Mall. He had made a fool of himself there before, and he didn't want to go back, but Shengming Shopping Mall was the shopping place he was most familiar with, and he was too lazy to look for other places to buy computers.

From a distance, I spotted the man I'd seen last time standing next to a silver-gray Wonderful luxury car. Women entering and exiting the mall couldn't help but glance at him. The man, seemingly oblivious, remained calm. He raised his wrist to check his watch, then spotted Gu Juan crossing the street.

When he approached, Xi Lang said calmly, "Since we're meeting at four o'clock, you should be punctual."

"Sorry, there's a traffic jam."

Xi Lang raised his eyebrows.

Gu Juan said: "A bus is also a car."

"No matter what, since you have an appointment with someone, you shouldn't be late. You should consider the possibility of traffic jams before leaving," said Xi Lang.

Was he being lectured? This was the first time anyone had spoken these words to him since his mother's death. Although it was criticism, and felt new and unfamiliar, it couldn't mask his displeasure.

"I won't apologize. You're the one who should apologize."

Xi Lang thought about what happened last time. The kid was still quite angry. He turned and walked into the mall.

Gu Juan followed and after a few steps, he was surprised to find that Xi Lang always kept a fixed distance from him - not far nor close, which was more or less strange, but he didn't think much about it.

There was an elevator, and the two quickly reached the electronics area on the fourth floor.

Xi Lang stopped and turned to ask Gu Juan, "Which store did you buy it from? Just buy an identical one."

Xi Cong came out of the watch shop and accidentally saw a familiar figure standing in front of the counter of the shop diagonally opposite, which was a bit strange.

Gu Juan didn't think about picking and choosing anymore. He took out the receipt for the last notebook he bought from his pocket and handed it to the salesperson.

"Get an identical one."

"Okay, please wait." The salesperson quickly brought a new laptop.

Gu Juan turned on the computer and found no problems. He checked the configuration and found that it was exactly the same as the previous one. He nodded to Xi Lang.

Xi Cong clearly saw Xi Lang take out a card and hand it to the salesperson. A smile appeared on his lips and he walked over quickly.

"Xi Lang."

"Brother?" Xi Lang asked, "Why are you here too?"

Gu Juan looked at Xi Cong curiously. He was about 40% similar to Xi Lang, about thirty years old, with a handsome face and tall stature. He was wearing a well-cut silver-gray suit made of exquisite fabric. He had a strong aura and was the epitome of an industry elite.

Xi Cong nodded towards Gu Juan and said to Xi Lang with a smile, "Boyfriend? Can you introduce him?"

Gu Juan was stunned. Boyfriend?
