【013】 College Entrance Examination

【013】 College Entrance Examination

Thinking that Gu Haojie also had to take the college entrance examination, his father, mother and grandmother would definitely focus all their energy on him. In order to avoid being affected by them, Gu Yinyin simply moved into Gu's home on June 6, and gave her parents the excuse that she was staying at a classmate's house.

Gu Xiangfu, Liu Guofang and Grandma Gu didn't care and just told her not to trouble her classmates too much.

On June 7th, Gu Juan and Gu Yinyin got up at 7 o'clock and put their admission tickets, ID cards and stationery in a transparent file bag with a hidden buckle.

Worried about getting upset from eating out, the siblings made over a hundred dumplings yesterday as their main meal for the two days leading up to the college entrance exam. The vegetables and eggs in the dumplings were all from space, making them both clean and delicious.

At 7:40, the two checked their briefcases to make sure they hadn't left anything behind and then went out together.

The Gaokao (National College Entrance Examination) is a significant event, and the Congzhou Municipal Government and Education Bureau have specially arranged several buses to transport students to the exam venue. Gu Juan and Gu Yinyin's exam venues are located in different locations, but both can catch the bus from the entrance to their residential complex. Before boarding, each of them exchanged encouraging glances, a gesture that spoke volumes.

Over twenty minutes later, Gu Juan arrived at his exam venue, Congzhou No. 1 Middle School. The school gates hadn't yet opened, but they were packed with students and their parents. Some students were accompanied not only by their parents but also by their grandparents. Standing in the scorching sun, they didn't seem to mind the sweat pouring down their foreheads.

On June 7th, the Chinese test will be held from 9:00 to 11:30 in the morning, and the mathematics test will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 in the afternoon; on June 8th, the liberal arts/science comprehensive test will be held from 9:00 to 11:30 in the morning, and the English test will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 in the afternoon.

At 8:20, the school gates opened and the public announcement called for students to enter and prepare to enter the examination room. At 9:00, the exam began on time.

Gu Juan filled in the personal information at the beginning of the exam, then glanced over it. After reading the essay topic, his heart was set. In Chinese, the essay was the most likely to lose points. Fortunately, he was right; the essay was the same as in his previous life's college entrance exam. He and Gu Yinyin had both prepared. Of course, to avoid Gu Yinyin's suspicion, he had mentioned a few more possible topics. As for the other topics, he didn't remember them. But that didn't matter. After several months of study, he had mastered all the necessary knowledge.

After letting out a light breath, Gu Juan began answering the questions, writing with impetuous energy. After finishing, he checked the time: 10:31. After carefully reviewing his personal information and all the questions, he still had a little over twenty minutes left to finish the exam.

When the bell rang at 11:30 to signal the end of the exam, the parents who accompanied their children to the exam were startled. They faced the campus, eagerly waiting, and kept wiping the sweat from their faces and necks with handkerchiefs, tissues or towels.

When the students came out of the examination room, their parents immediately surrounded them. They didn't ask how they did on the exam, but just asked them softly if they were hungry or thirsty.

Gu Juan took the bus home and boiled a pot of water just as Gu Yinyin arrived home.

The two did not talk about the exam. They cooked a pot of dumplings, shared them, took a nap, and set off for the exam venue at two o'clock.

The tense atmosphere persisted until five o'clock the next afternoon. As the bell rang, signaling the end of the exam, students streamed out of their classrooms and converged on the boulevard, finding familiar classmates and asking each other how they fared. The entire campus was abuzz with activity. Some beamed with joy, others dejected and discouraged; it was truly a mix of joy and sorrow.

The parents could no longer hold back and surrounded their children to ask questions.

The school gate was blocked and Gu Juan couldn't squeeze out for a while, so he simply went to the shade of a tree and waited.

His neatly trimmed bangs were lifted up, revealing his handsome face completely. His deep eyes looked ahead calmly. He wore a black V-neck short-sleeved T-shirt with light blue jeans and white canvas shoes. His right hand was casually placed in his trouser pocket. He just stood there silently, but he had a unique temperament that attracted many people's attention.

"Uncle!"

A tall, thin boy ran past Gu Juan, accidentally brushing his shoulder. Gu Juan glanced over casually. The boy, smiling, stopped in front of a young man, standing oddly at a distance. Gu Juan was no stranger to that young man: Xi Lang.

Xi Lang also saw Gu Juan and was a little surprised.

"How did you do in the exam?" Xi Lang asked the young man in front of him.

"It feels good, there shouldn't be any problem!" The boy smiled confidently.

Gu Xiangfu, Liu Guofang, and Gu Haojie also joined them. One of the couple handed Gu Haojie some water, while the other fanned him with a folding fan.

"Son, how did you do in the exam?" Gu Xiangfu patted Gu Haojie's shoulder and asked with concern.

Gu Haojie raised his head and took a big sip of water, full of confidence. "Math and comprehensive science should be fine. Only the reading comprehension and composition in Chinese and English might lose some points."

As he spoke, he glanced at Gu Juan.

Liu Guofang's face lit up with pride. "Great, great! Maybe my son can get into Imperial Capital University or Huaqing University!" Imperial Capital University and Huaqing University are among China's ten most prestigious universities, and they're the top of the list, standing like twin lotus flowers in the imperial capital. When ordinary people think of prestigious universities in China, Imperial Capital University and Huaqing University are the first to come to mind.

The parents around looked at them enviously. If they dared to say that, their sons must have done well in the exam, right?

"Gu Juan, how did you do on the test?" Gu Haojie walked up to Gu Juan with a look of false concern on his face. "Would you like to compare your answers with mine? I wouldn't say my answers are the standard ones, but they're good enough for you to use as a reference."

The candidates at this examination center were basically all science students. Upon hearing this, they all gathered around and looked at Gu Juan with curiosity, contempt, and mockery in their eyes.
