Chapter 17: The first day of setting up a stall, support

After leaving the community, Zhang Wanwan didn't care what others said about her. She was excited at the thought of making money. It was almost half past nine when she arrived at Century Square. She rode her tricycle to the location she had chosen before. Zhang Wanwan hurriedly prepared everything. In fact, there was nothing to prepare. It was nothing more than hanging up the sign and putting the things on the stall.

Because this location is right at the corner of the pedestrian street, there are only three or four shops behind it, and there is a dead end at the end. There is a big banyan tree on the side and it is close to the ditch. No one has set up a stall here yet. If you want people to see you setting up a stall in such a place, you can only use a loudspeaker. The reason she chose this place is not only because she doesn't have to compete with others for the stall, but more importantly, there is a shop selling bottled mineral water next to her. She needs a lot of mineral water to sell milk tea, and this location is most suitable for her.

Zhang Wanwan turned up the volume of the loudspeaker to the maximum and played the song over and over again: A cup of milk tea, a kind of longing, welcome to taste Xiao Zhang's milk tea, authentic ingredients, which will make you linger.

This time is definitely early for the pedestrian street, and many stores have just opened. Hearing the unfamiliar voice, many people came out of the stores, surprised at the source of the voice. Upon closer inspection, they found that it was a little girl. Although she was wearing a mask, you could tell from her temperament that the girl was not very old.

A young and pretty salesperson in her twenties walked out of the store closest to Zhang Wanwan's stall and asked Zhang Wanwan curiously, "Little sister, are you an adult and you're setting up a stall?"

In their opinion, if there are still people setting up stalls at such a young age these days, they must be from a poor family and need help.

Facing the enthusiastic older sister, Zhang Wanwan smiled and shook her head, saying, "I'm not yet an adult, so I'm working part-time during the summer vacation. Do you want to buy some milk tea? I can give you a 20% discount."

The salesperson then looked at Zhang Wanwan's stall seriously. Seeing that there was no price list posted under the stall, he asked with a smile, "How much is the little girl's milk tea?"

"One cup is five yuan, and with a 20% discount it's four yuan. I'm going to raise the price in ten days, and then one cup will be seven yuan. But my milk tea is really delicious. Would you like to try it, sister?" Milk tea at that time was priced at this level, but the milk tea in the store was brewed with powder, which had a low cost. Zhang Wanwan's milk tea was made with real ingredients, and the cost of a cup of milk tea was almost two yuan. Fortunately, she didn't have to pay rent for her stall, so the profit was still good.

The salesperson hesitated for a moment and then agreed. It happened that she hadn't had breakfast yet on her way to work, so drinking a cup of milk tea could be considered supporting a young girl's career and doing a good deed every day.

Zhang Wanwan was overjoyed. Her confidence soared after selling her first cup of milk tea. After all, this was a good start, wasn’t it?

Besides, the salesperson who bought the milk tea returned to the store with the milk tea. When the other salespersons saw what she brought, they all shook their heads in disapproval, "Eating such a useless thing so early in the morning!"

After being criticized by everyone, the saleswoman felt a little regretful. She only spent four dollars on it, so she couldn't throw it away, could she? She had no choice but to put in the straw and take a sip with a depressed look on her face.

Her eyes suddenly lit up, and she looked at the milk tea in surprise and said, "It's delicious! The girl didn't lie, the taste is really different! You guys try it."

The female salesperson handed the milk tea to a female colleague she was on good terms with.

The man took a sip out of respect, then his eyes widened, nodded vigorously, and said exaggeratedly: "It's really delicious! Especially the pearls, the taste is so good. Where did you buy them? I want some too!"

The saleswoman immediately felt extremely happy and said proudly, "It's outside the store! Listen, that loud speaker is shouting! I just saw that it's not easy for a little girl, so I wanted to support her, but I didn't expect to get such an unexpected reward! The milk tea I drank before is simply poison compared to this! No matter what, I declare that Xiao Zhang's milk tea will be my exclusive milk tea from now on!"

Seeing their reaction, others were also moved. At almost noon, when someone went out to order food, those people asked that person to bring back milk tea.

After Zhang Wanwan sold the first cup of milk tea, no one was interested in it until after eleven o'clock when more people came to the pedestrian street and business started to pick up. Every extra cup she sold was a profit. Zhang Wanwan did not ask for too much. Unexpectedly, a big customer came around twelve o'clock and ordered six cups. He paid thirty yuan very happily.

When others saw this man buying so much at one time, they also followed suit. Zhang Wanwan was immediately happy and started to get really busy. Although there were not many customers, there were always a constant stream of customers.

It was a hot day, and even though she was standing in the shade, her whole body was still soaked with sweat as if she had taken a shower. She didn't know when a pair of hands suddenly appeared beside her.

Zhang Wanwan turned her head in surprise and exclaimed, "Dad! Why are you here?"

Father Zhang didn't even look at Zhang Wanwan before he started helping her. He casually replied, "I've brought you food. It's already late and you haven't eaten yet, right?"

Zhang Wanwan nodded. She was really busy and dizzy, and the weather was hot, so she didn't feel hungry at all.

"Dad, what time is it now?"

Father Zhang then realized that Zhang Wanwan didn't even have a watch or a mobile phone. He pondered and said, "I'll buy you a watch tonight so you can wear it to tell time. Dad is busy over here. Go eat first."

After teaching Zhang's father how to operate it, Zhang Wanwan immediately ran to the side of the motorcycle to eat. The familiar thermos bucket and the familiar taste.

Father Zhang looked back at her, and seeing that she was eating with relish, he smiled too.

Ten minutes later, Zhang Wanwan returned to her seat and persuaded Zhang's father to go back and rest, but Zhang's father refused. Before, he only regarded the stall as Zhang Wanwan's game and didn't take it seriously at all. He didn't expect the business to be so good. How could he go back and rest and let his daughter work here?

Seeing that she couldn't persuade Zhang's father any more, Zhang Wanwan had to make him a cup of milk tea to help him cool down.

Mr. Zhang did not refuse. He took it and drank it in big gulps. The customers felt more at ease when they saw that the boss was drinking their own milk tea.

At around two o'clock in the afternoon, Zhang's father had to go to work. Before leaving, he advised Zhang Wanwan to go home early.

Zhang Wanwan looked at the materials she brought and nodded, "Dad, today is the first day, I didn't prepare too many materials. If business continues to be this good, I can get home first without waiting for you to get off work."

Father Zhang was relieved now. He stepped on the accelerator and the motorcycle sped away in a cloud of dust.

Without Zhang's father around, Zhang Wanwan devoted herself to selling milk tea. Business was even better at three or four o'clock. Before four o'clock, all her pearls were sold out. You know, she didn't prepare many pearls, but also not a few. The box was bigger than the plastic bucket for five kilograms of vegetable oil. There were two boxes in total, and now all of them were gone, not a single pearl was left. There was still some boiled black tea left, but that was because the black tea was specially boiled to be a little stronger, and very little was used during the mixing. However, the mineral water used for dilution was consumed extremely, and almost eight barrels were used in a day, which made the boss who sold mineral water very happy. He also offered to help Zhang Wanwan watch the stall to prevent other stall owners from occupying it.

Zhang Wanwan was so grateful that she had to give the boss a cup of milk tea without pearls as a thank you because she had no pearls left.
