After the doctor left, Yanling lay on the hospital bed in despair, as if his soul had been ripped out. He shut down his senses, refused to communicate with the outside world, and let the darkness engulf him.
Jiang Xin didn't dare to breathe loudly, but Yan Ling's utterly despondent appearance terrified her.
She sat quietly to one side, looking like a lifeless statue from a distance.
As night fell, Jiang Xin said softly, "I'm going home to get my daily necessities."
Yanling did not respond. Jiang Xin's footsteps were very light, the door closed, and the room returned to silence.
Jiang Xin was preoccupied with her thoughts the whole way home, and only realized something was wrong when she arrived at her doorstep.
The courtyard was shrouded in darkness and was very quiet, without a sound.
Jiang Xin panicked. Where were her family members? Where was her aunt? Where was An'an? Where was the nanny? Where had they all gone?
She quickly took out her phone from her bag and called her aunt. The call went through, but no one answered. She then dialed the nanny's number, but there was no answer there either.
She pounded on the door: "Open the door! Is anyone home?"
Jiang Xin rushed out and forgot her keys, so now she can only stand in front of the gate pacing back and forth.
When her uncle saw Jiang Xin lingering at the front door, he said irritably, "Where have you been? An'an is sick! Your aunt has been calling all afternoon but you haven't answered!"
My aunt and the nanny didn't know how An'an was doing, so they left without taking many things with them. Just after they finished the hospital admission procedures for the baby, my uncle was sent back to get formula and diapers.
He couldn't control his anger the moment he saw Jiang Xin. What an irresponsible mother! All she does all day is dump the baby on the nanny and doesn't care about anything else!
What will happen to her after three months when the nanny leaves?
An'an is sick? Jiang Xin's heart clenched instantly.
"What's wrong with An'an? I was here this afternoon, this afternoon..."
Seeing that she was blaming herself, her uncle didn't want to scold her anymore.
Having spent half a day at the hospital without a drop of water, his uncle's voice was a little hoarse as he asked, "What happened to you this afternoon? Why did you only say half a sentence? Where's Yanling? Why isn't he home?"
When her uncle asked about Yanling, Jiang Xin burst into tears. She choked out, "Yanling was in a car accident, and the doctor said he might have to have his leg amputated."
The uncle staggered a few steps, then asked in shock, "What did you say? Amputation?!"
"Yes, he was hit by a motorcycle. I came back to get some daily necessities to stay with him at the hospital."
The uncle weakly pushed open the door and silently went into the room to pack An'an's belongings.
Jiang Xin felt terrible seeing her uncle and aunt running around for her and Yanling.
She quickly packed a few changes of clothes, grabbed a towel and toothbrush, told her uncle Yanling's room number, and left in a hurry.
"I'm sorry, An'an, Daddy is sick and he needs Mommy. Mommy will come to see you when I have time."
Jiang Xin apologized to her daughter in her heart.
Yanling is currently in a period where she cannot be separated from others, and I am too busy to be in two places at once, so I can only temporarily entrust my daughter to my aunt and uncle for care.
Soon, the uncle finished packing his things, and before leaving, he inexplicably looked back at the yard.
The once brightly lit courtyard is now eerily silent; those days of laughter and joy are gone forever.
As soon as Jiang Xin entered the hospital's main gate, she saw many people running towards the back of the hospital.
The inpatient department was right behind the outpatient building. Jiang Xin followed these people in a daze, heading towards the inpatient department.
She overheard people around her saying, "Someone is going to jump off a building in the inpatient ward. Firefighters and police have arrived."
"I heard it's a young man who's contemplating suicide. Hospital leaders have gone there and are trying to persuade him."
"Yes, I heard that too. It seems they just moved in today. So young, how can they be so stubborn! Sigh..."
"Let's hurry, the whole hospital is downstairs in the inpatient building watching the commotion!"
Jiang Xin immediately thought of Yan Ling, a young man who had just been admitted to the hospital today. Who else could it be but Yan Ling!
She rushed to the bottom of the inpatient building, looked up at the rooftop, and screamed at the top of her lungs, "No!!!"
Goodnight, my little cuties! (?ˇε ˇ?)
